Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
Stylistic inversion.
It's optional and somewhat more formal.
The same can be done in English.
Correct:
Where the world rejects us.
Poetic:
Where rejects us the world.
That doesn't sound right to me, though I know we have stylistic inversion too at times
I think the "us" makes it weird
Ah that's a shame 😅 I tried. But maybe it helps get the point across ☺️
Which "version" would be the "stylistic/poetic" choice, in OP original question?
The quote i assume
Specifically this is stylistic inversion after a relative pronoun
Le restaurant où mangent les ouvriers
Le suspect qu'ont arrêté les policiers
etc.
iirc this is common in romance languages
Ah ok
(but doesn't happen in English in the same way)
Is it like "by the river, sing do the bees"?
uhhh that doesn't work for me in English
and it wouldn't work in French either
here's a bunch of examples of stylistic inversion:
"by the river sing the bees" could work
Or "and then returns the prince after decades"
love this! thanks everyone
Just found an example from a poe.
In thhe evening appeared one cloud
Is this exhaustive?
