Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
i think its either foreigner or strange
yeah as a noun i understand it. Even as an adjective
i mean as a verb tho
hmmm
apparently its a verb so that's why im tryna figure out how would u even use that
ina verb way
i speak portuguese as well
and in portuguese theres a verb "estranhar"
which is kinda like
"to find something weird"
or someone
ahhhh
but i might be wrong
wait how would you even say that? like
"eu não posso entranhar isso"?
my Portuguese new af so i needa work alot of shit out lol
more like: você não estranharia que ele faria isso
you'd expect him to do this
you wouldn't find it strange
ima ask more about this in dm to avoid speaking tm Portuguese here😭 but yeah any natives that can help me "étranger" as a verb please help
i'm in no way the best person here to be answering these questions 😭
it's not a common verb
ive seen it used to refer to foreigners (migrants, visitors), abroad, foreign countries etc - for example "vivre à l'étranger"
Alba told me its just to like to lose contact with someone, making yourself a stranger or becoming a stranger to em metaphorically
i mean as adjectives and nouns ik it quite well. Really was the verb form that messed me up
tho i definitely believe this. I've never seen it, even then i thought maybe it was just me
but apparently it isn't so thank you for the confirmation lol
lmaoooo
Yeah but it’s not used
the weird thing is that this same website doesn't mention it as a verb https://www.wordreference.com/fren/étranger
lol we already established that
i ain't wanna use that🤣🤣🤣
the most unorthodox verb I've seen
trying to understand its use and purpose was hard alone
"because who gives a merde Abou this word🧟♂️"
lol its probs because the word sees no usage so they just note its conjugation but can't give a word example for the use of the verb version of the word. Reasonable explanation tbh tho eh im glad i found out it isn't used
Yeah exactly
There are many websites that do that
You could type « malounier » (which a word I just invented) and they would give u the conjugation
@whole zephyr
sites really do that?
