Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
En should work.
euh
Aaaah, the d' isn't included in the underline, so you aren't supposed to replace the entire object of the verb moquer.
aah oui...
Instead, you just transform the clause that comes after d'.
Je me moque de ca ?
nope 🧍‍♂️
we have this nightmare to work with, + y and en
genuinely hate this area of french. extremely confusing
It was Je m'en moque but with a point at the end lmao
...
me/te/lui/nous/vous/leur -> Ă (person)
y -> Ă (not a person)
en -> de/des/de la/du
better, thank you
this was honest-to-god an immiserating disaster to get through lol
basically just brute force trialled and errored most of them
je donne Ă Melody -> je lui donne
je donne Ă Melody et Harmony -> je leur donne
je vais Ă Paris -> j'y vais
je pense Ă visiter Paris -> j'y pense
je veux des bonbons -> j'en veux
tu as des voitures -> j'en ai trois (i have three of em)
Can either of you explain why tf 2) is J'ai parlé de lui à tes amis and not smth like "Je lui ai parlé à tes amis" or "Je l'ai parlé à tes amis" ?
I know in Dali's poem Oiseau he says "Je lui ai donné un peu de pain" lol
J'ai parlé de lui à tes amis
I spoke about him to your friends
(J'ai parle) (de lui) (Ă tes amis)
yes in passé composé the avoir comes after the lui
j'ai donné un peu de pain à lui
je lui ai donné un peu de pain
je lui en ai donné un peu
Je lui en ai donné un peu.
my brain is also starting to glitch
it is dreadful but c'est la vie
what can we do
bon courage fellow french learner
« lui » can't replace « de », that's the issue.
Tu parles Ă Julie ? Oui, je lui parle.
Tu parles de Julie ? Oui, je parle d'elle.
With « à + person » you can replace both the preposition and the object with the indirect object pronouns lui/leur but with « de + person » you can only replace the object with a tonic pronoun
