Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
honte = shame as in the emotion
dommage = shame specifically in the phrase "what a shame!"
what a shame like what bad luck! right? not like what a disgrace!
Yeah more like "what bad luck!" or "that's unfortunate!"
"what a disgrace!" would be "quelle honte !", incidentally
can they be used as nouns?\
and "do you have no shame?" would be "n'as-tu pas la honte?"
"dommage" rarely appears as a noun other than in the expressions "Dommage !" or "Quel dommage !"
In other contexts it usually means "damage"
But "honte" is the default word for "shame", yes. N'as-tu pas honte ? Aren't you ashamed?
N'as-tu aucune honte ? Do you have no shame?
d'accord merci de m'avoir aidé
De rien !
By the way, "pour l'aider" = "for helping him/her"
"pour l'aide" = for the help
i thougt it was "for helping"
i will just say m'aider
