« Wesh » is indeed a word with multiple meanings.

The two main senses are :

• a salutation (compare « yo », « salut ») : « Wesh bien ou quoi ? » → « Yo what's up ? » (this is extremely colloquial and slangy)
• an expression of surprise or an exclamation (compare some curse words, or the word 'what') : « Wesh t'es sérieux là ? » → « Are you [intensifier] serious ? » ; « Mais wesh ?? » → « Wtf ?? » ; « Weeeeesh ?! » → « Oh my god ?! »

But it can be used to emphasize in pretty much every way, it depends on the context and the intonation.
Anyway it's an extremely slangy word that you won't encounter everywhere, and not really in long sentences since it's mainly an exclamation :)
