its conjugation
in english we have
i/you/we/they eat
BUT
he/she/it eatS
in french the same concept applies but more strictly
PARLER- to speak
Je parle
Tu parles
Il/Elle parle
Nous parlons
Vous parlez
Ils/Elles parlent
they have to follow the subjecr (je/tu etc)
you cannot je parlons
Manger - to eat
je mange
tu manges
il/elle mange
nous mangeons
vous mangez
ils/elles mangent
clear? :)
Oui, merci.
de rien
I have one last question
I've noticed whenever a line is "je" some words (like mange, parle, habite) does not have the s. But whenever a line is "tu" some words have that extra s. Does it stay this way and should it be something I should be looking out for or will this change depending on different words.
for example
Not in standard French. You can see it in hillbilly dialects. It means "we talk".
Tu habites
Tu parles
Tu manges
Je habite
Je parle
Je mange
J'habite*
general jist is tu ends in -s
some verbs conjugate to -s for je as well
but its a matter of practice makes perfect
and remembering
ah alright thank you
Just started 2 days ago, happy on what I have learned in short time. I do often forget some words meanings though which is completely normal
1 to 4 hours on duolingo daily, using a bit of google translate to correct some errors (aware it's inaccurate often but I make sure it's correct by checking in with french people) and using what I know in french to read sentences which can help me fill in a new word or two if I know the other words
you got this
merci beaucoup (unsure if thats correct)
what does de rien mean? Haven't got that far into yet
de rien is you're welcome
French is very odd to me in some cases like that
Like if you are greeting someone be saying welcome it's Bienvenue but in the way you are using it's completely different
my advice is to look at french as a different language
its not english
it is not like english either
you're welcome is not ton bienvenue because it is not literally translated
because french and english are two seperate things
potato is pomme de terre
apple of the ground
so remember to look at french not like englihs
and not everythng directly translates
you got this
no worires
@timber lion thank you again
de rien
I literally improved my accurate rate on those words a ton
congrats
Do hate how duolingo "life" system works though
Also it wants me to fill in the blanks to a story that has like a billion words I haven't even started on and if I fail once I have to like 30 practice questions and watch an ad for 2 more chances
yeah :/
not long
You were right but it was still annoying
