Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
before telling you your mistakes, you should know about pronoun order when you have two pronouns in your sentences, since many of your mistakes are related to that:
exercise 2
[1] incorrect pronoun order, and the past participle « apporté » does not correctly agree with the direct object
[2] incorrect pronoun order, and make sure to use the correct verb and agree it to the direct object
[3] see n°2
[4] incorrect pronoun order, and the past participle « confirmé » does not agree with the direct object
[5] missing pronoun; you forgot to replace « au théâtre » in the question
[6] missing pronoun; you forgot to replace « un message »
[7] missing pronoun; you forgot to replace « un bonbon »
–
exercise 3
[3] incorrect pronoun placement (object pronouns always follow the negative adverb « ne »)
[4] see n°3
[5] see n°3
[6] see n°3
[7] incorrect pronoun used; the verb in the question is « vous », not « tu »
[8] see n°3
[9] see n°7
–
exercice 4
[2] the past participle does not agree with the direct object
[3] missing pronoun; you forgot to replace « de Daniel » in the question
[4] incorrect pronoun order, and incorrect pronoun used to replace « un message »
[5] incorrect elision of « me » in the question
[7] inversed pronouns « me » and « te » between question and response, and missing pronoun; you forgot to replace « la réponse »
[8] missing pronoun; you forgot to replace « l'adresse »
[9] incorrect placement of the negative adverb « pas » (in compound tenses, « pas » always follows the auxiliary)
that's everything
you royally messed up
jkjkjk
if you have any further questions, feel free
by the way, what book is that? my friend has been asking me about grammar books for learning french
guide is good, note as well that the "ne" for a negation comes before all the pronouns
sorry for late answer, i fell asleep
i think it's grammaire progressive du français but i'm not sure since i get photos from my prof
And big thanks for detailed answer
Time to get to work now 🗿
Also where am I supposed to put the avoir/être for passé composé?
you put it after the object pronoun
so diagram would be like that?
mdr
listen
the "conjugated verb" means the être/avoir auxiliary and the past participle together
i am sorry this topic makes my iq decrease
it's fine
what i mean here is that all of the object pronouns are placed before the verb
no matter the tense
for example...
- Est-ce que tu __m'__as apporté des bonbons ?
- Oui, je t'en ai apporté.
as you can see, both « te » and « en » are written before the entire verb
do you get it? 👀
for exercise 2, n°5 is wrong, remember pronoun order
you wrote « y » in the wrong place
a a
je t'y ?
and n°7 is almost correct
since « un » in « un bonbon » is a number, you need to keep it at the end of the verb
so... « Je t'en ai déjà donné un. »
do you get it? 👀
a yes i forgot about this
prof in fact mentioned it b4
for exercise 3, you forgot « pas » in n°5
ne nous a pas?
and you wrote « pas » in the wrong place in n°8
and is there supposed to be -es at the end tho? parles?
for which one?
elle vous a parle
no
if the object pronoun is direct, then we agree the past participle
however, in this case, it's indirect (since we say parler à (quelqu'un); there's a preposition), so we don't agree the past participle
also, i missed something
for n°4, you forgot to replace « son voyage »
but there's no à tho 🫠
weII, you see
mmm... how do i explain this in a not confusing way... 🤔
think of it like this:
- Il a parlé à sa mère. → Il lui a parlé.
even though « sa mère » is feminine, we don't agree the past participle
since here, it's an indirect object, not a direct one
you do know the difference between direct and indirect objects, right?
well, i know the difference betwen them but difficulty?
oh sorry, i meant difference
not difficulty
autocorrect
lol
okay, so yeah
you get it, right?
😅
for this one, « son vogage » is masculine singular
which pronoun do you think we should use?
to replace it?
le
because it's raconter qqch?
il ne me l'a pas raconte?
YESSSSSSSS
YESSSS
lastly, you forgot to replace « un message » in n°10 💀
yes ofc but i'm on pc now so i dont have them:C
bruh where are my brain cells
lol
but
less mistakes than before
there's progress
💀
that's something
are you a teacher or smth man 🧍♂️
no
i just happen to know a lot about the French language
and know how to explain properly
so yeah
bro, every time i help someone in French, they ask me a question like this 💀
no problem
so, what's the answer for n°10?
because we still have exercise 4 💀
yyyy
je peux te le laisser?
not quite
remember, you're replacing « un message »
not « le message »
there's a difference
aaaa
je peux te laisser un?
almost 😅
je peux t'en laisser un
remember that when we have a noun that's accompied by the indefinite article « un/une », we replace the noun with « en », and we keep « un/une » right after the verb since they're considered to be numbers
par exemple...
- J'ai regardé un film hier. → J'en ai regardé un hier.
- J'ai acheté une chemise hier. → J'en ai acheté une hier.
I hope it'll be sooner than later
me too
for the benefit of the coming people who might teach you in the future 💀
kidding
anyways, onto exercise 4
there's a small something in n°2
look at the past participle in the question
and then look at the past participle you wrote in the response
you see it?
Did I forget an "e"
yesss
it should be « invitée »
for n°3, did you mean to write « ne m'as pas lui parlé » ?
Yes
that's wrong

imma' just tell you why since it's a bit advanced
Just like my sclerosis
☠️☠️☠️
okay, dark humor aside
when we use an indirect object pronoun, it's always because the verb uses the preposition « à » or « pour »
for example...
- Elle a téléphoné à Marc. → Elle lui a téléphoné.
- J'ai acheté le jeu pour les enfants. → Je leur ai acheté le jeu.
here, it's a bit different; we have the preposition « de »
you might be tempted to say that "oh, here we'll just use « en » because it replaces nouns that have the preposition « de »)
BUT NO-
that only applies if the indirect object is an inanimate object or abstract concept
like, for example...
- Marc est sorti de la piscine. → Marc en est sorti.
in the sentence in n°3, we have a person after « de »
in this case, we'll use a stressed pronoun
which are... moi, toi, lui, elle, nous, vous, eux, and elles
since « Daniel » is masculine singular, we need to use « lui »
and so the correct answer is...
« Non, tu m'as pas parlé de lui. »
yes, a bit confusing i know
it's not that important that you get it right now, but you should at least know the reason behind it
anyways, shall we move on?
that's what you were most interested in? 💀
you just do
# your text here
And the stressed pronouns are always after conjugated verb?
yes
rather, they're always after the preposition
since the preposition never disappears when you use a stressed pronoun

Preposition is which thing exactly? Sorry my english vocab for grammar terms is limited
I'm sorry 💀
in n°3, it's « de »
Je m'en ai laissé un?
the pronoun used is « elle », not « je »
so it would be « Elle m'en a laissé un. »
but in terms of object pronouns, you did good 👍
Ah yes got bit lost there
anyways, just one more thing
in n°9, using « là » is acceptable i guess, but i'm pretty sure you're supposed to replace « dans la rue » with « y »
so... what would that look like?
I've used là on purpose so I don't have to scuffle with this 💀
Je ne t'y ai pas vue..?
Or je ne t'ai pas y vue?
lmaoooo
yes
that's correct
and that concludes our session
bye 👋
