Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
None or almost none
« dedans » might be a bit less formal, cause it's quicker to say people might be inclined to use it more
There are a few situations where people will also be more inclined to use one or the other, but I don't think you'll find rules about that online
Something to note is that « dedans » always implies the object, while « à l'intérieur » you can say « à l'intérieur de » and mention an object
« Je l'ai mis dedans » (implied)
« Je l'ai mis à l'intérieur » (implied)
« Je l'ai mis à l'intérieur de la boîte » (explicit)
« Je l'ai mis dedans la boîte » is technically grammatically incorrect, although you might still hear it
« Je l'ai mis dans la boîte » would be the grammatically correct alternative
thank you very much for your very elaborate answer. i saw a reddit post that says « dedans » is for objects or smaller places and « à l'intérieur » is for larger spaces or objects. I wasn't sure how true it is.
I actually prefer « à l'interieur » then, seems quite straight forward
