Y replaces à + noun

Je vais au (à+le) supermarché => j'yvais
En replaces de + noun
Je parle du (de+le) supermarché => j'en parle

Though for people, we usually use tonic or indirect pronouns to refer to them.

se is reflective, not y.

y is a regular pronoun mostly anaphoric to prepositional phrases, and adverbial phrases, or a locative complement
