Please be patient

Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.

Pro tip: you can rename the thread title with `.tr <thread name>`

Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

What do you mean?

Cuba does not have an article (or gender for that matter)

#

you can't say Le Cuba or La Cuba

No, just Cuba.

right. and if i use an adjective for it, should i use a masculine adjective?

When would you use an adjective with Cuba?

teal minnow
#

"Cuba est un pays isolé(e)"

gloomy yoke
#

The adjective qualifies the word pays here, not Cuba. If you want it to qualify Cuba, it's going to have a feminine form.

#

Cuba est isolée des autres pays par la mer.

hmmmmmm. ok. thank you.

I checked its gender online, and the websites I saw gave the country the feminine gender.

Cuba est féminin car il s'agit de "(l'île de) Cuba". on dit ainsi "Cuba est un pays isolé" (c'est le pays qui est isolé), mais aussi "Cuba est allongée" (ce qui est vrai en plus) puisqu'on dit réellement "l'île de Cuba est allongée" et que l'on qualifie l'île plutôt que le mot "Cuba"

Comme l'a dit @oak sparrow , c'est de même pour (la ville de) Paris
