Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
Chances are you already sound like a foreigner, so roll with it.
Orally, « ne » is almost universally dropped, so you can absolutely leave it out unless you’re giving a speech or in a job interview.
Ok thanks, yes i often leave it out, i was just hesitating and self-conscious whether i would be judged for it
No need to worry about that for this one. In particularly formal contexts it might come off a little overly casual but you'll be given extra leeway with a non-native accent regardless :p
I've honestly had my girlfriend look at me funny for using "ne" on occasion, it's weirder to add it in most contexts
Yes when i came over i originally used it as i was taught in school, but i dropped it after some teasing (entirely from other foreigners, as oddly enough actual French people never made my accent or lack of vocab early on an issue).
But yeah thanks
Oh yeah foreigners can be brutal for no reason lol
