#ça va et toi

Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
ça va et toi
(I'm probably overthinking lol)
Thank you! I appreciate your help. Would it sound bizarre to you otherwise? If so, I'd be worried about getting it wrong in other sentences too
Or maybe intonation is just part of having an accent and I don't need to worry about it much
the only way to tell if it's natural is to make a voice message for us hehe
but I think you do are overthinking
idk if you heard it but french is not a language where intonations are important
Just send a vocal of how you'd pronounce it !
Just wanna make clear that I'm not a pro of pronunciation, I don't know the phonetic system. Just a random french tryna help
It is, but we have a general intonation, even with different accents
Idk why people are OBSESSED with pronunciation in french 😭😭😭😭😭 just listen to french ppl to get how it's the most natural, but we don't care at all
It's just to make it more natural and smoother
lmaooo dw i believe you, ||i ain't gonna go repeat this question 3x in multiple channels now||
because in some languages like english it's important and can change the meaning of the sentence
Ahahaha it's fine, it's just that people are used to ask and learn the intonation
But in french only the pronunciation is important
That's true though. For asking questions, we can sometimes use intonation alone in English, but (it seems like) intonation is the most common way to turn indicatif into a question in French
That's why french people sound so monotone in foreign languages and it's SO HARD to learn a "singing" language (I'm learning Chinese and it's horrible)
Intonation is important mostly for questions and sarcasm, I don't think of any other really important use
so going up on the word "et" in ça va et toi is surprising to me
The second one sounds like you just ask it to be polite, you don't rly ask for any further informations on if they are doing alright ahhahaha
Yeah that's good !
ah the obligatory pleasantries in small talk 😔
I completely understand btw, from my experience helping people in the English learning server for a while. pretty sure there are non-native English speakers in there that know more about English than I do
Ahahaha np
en tant qu’americain je veux pas que les francais le sachent! je prefere qu’ils pensent que je suis quebecois ou peut etre d’une montagne suisse
