Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
And would it change if I negate the sentence using "ne... pas"?
when you're talking about liking the general concept of something you use the definite article
if you use a partitive article it sounds like you're refering only to specific instances of the thing
Hm okay, but once on Easy French on youtube I heard that you are supposed to say "J'adore du patinage"
Did I misunderstand something or is it a different case?
hmm, are you sure you didn't miss the verb "faire" between adore and patinage?
Maybe you're right, I don't remember which one I watched so I can't check
And can you say something about it?
It"s still "Le n'aime pas les enfants"?
no change if the sentence uses a definite article
but partitive articles become 'de' in most negative sentences
(except with être or for emphasis)
hm... maybe that one from easy french was "Je n'aime pas de patinage"? Does this sentence make sense?
no
