Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
No, it would be -> "Je devais étudier" (I had to study), or "Je devais faire mes devoirs" (I had to do my homework)

I think you're getting confused between faire and falloir, which are very different verbs
What you wrote is kinda like "he had made it that I made study"
Subjunctive would be "il a fallu que j'étudie"
