Generally no, it's much more common to correct yourself imo

Especially for the ones you mentioned, as those exist but mean something different (à le, de le, etc) - which exist for object pronouns

When do these cases happen? Do you mean the "le" here is the object pronoun of a later phrase, e.g. à le faire?

Otherwise the le should be moved forward to after the subject, right?

Essentially. I'm not French so don't quote me on this but when French people pause and think of another word, they'll often repeat the preposition too

No, « penser » doesn't take a direct object.

« penser » tends to not use indirect object pronouns and instead use à + object

Otherwise, it's not permissible to break contractions because articles always melt into prepositions unless it's not an article

so you can have « je pense beaucoup à la journ- aux jours qui m'attendent » but also « je pense à … le faire » but from what I remember, people will just repeat the preposition as well so « je pense à … à le faire »
