Erm this translation sounds a bit too literal, « en face partie » doesn’t mean anything as far as I know, and searches online brought up nothing.

You can tell it’s a literal translation of the English because of that « alors »; French if clauses never start the consequence part with « alors (then) », that’s an English thing.

The meaning would change because the English says, ‘I want to be with that guy’ but then the French would be, ‘I would want this guy to be a part of it’

If you remove « alors » it’s okay, the construction si + imparfait + conditionnel is used to talk about a hypothetical situation
