pretty much the only words that do this end in 'e' (with some exceptions)
and they only do it before vowel sounds

je mange
j'mange

je ai
j'ai

in informal language "tu" can also do this
and in very informal language sometimes you will see people doing the same with other words – this is to reflect the reality of how the words are pronounced, but it's not considered "proper"
