Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
how can we help
hi
i have 2 chapters to do
please teach me
its imperative verbs
and some other stuff
Hey there.
So first off, please don't use all caps; it's aggressive and makes it seem like you're yelling.
As far as helping you on an exam is concerned, you'll need to ask specific questions, we can't just "teach you"
And lastly, if your exam's tomorrow, there's very little we can do, the time to study was over the past few weeks. The best thing you can do now is make sure you get a good night's sleep.
oh sorry
noo
not a good nights sleep
this is like saying, you're gonna die! sleep well
i need to learn
please!
how do i learn
imperatives
tenses
it is easy
we drop the subject (tu/nous/vous)
and for tu we drop the S
it is commanding
no only tu
so lets say manger
its like saying "eat up!!"
mange!!
mangez!!
mangeons!!
?
whats a direct object pronoun
what does
that do
for like
dirject object
oh so
le la les
is for a direct thing
like i directly ate chocolate
i ate it
yes
wait thats it?
(Those are indirect object pronouns, because the verb doesn't take the object directly)
but like i talk TO him
so like i talk to him
oo
how do i do the vocabulary quick
you cant force that shit
same thing, you can't force it
Man just wants some cheat codes like learning a language is gtaV
This server isn't for people who need emergency help for exams, this is your problem
yo i passed the exam TYSM
emergency help? its salle de classe my boy what you think its for?
it isnt a cheatcode either
just your imagination
its not rude to ask someoen to teach
even if it were a server for just teaching French, it would still be impolite to do so
I can't go up to my professor and go, 'Teach me!'
they did say 'please teach me'
but in some extent this server works in a way that its voluntarily.
It still doesn't change the fact that this is not a teaching server
like if u wanna teach them after their plead, we can 'help'
rather than teach yk
I'm here on a voluntary basis; I am not paid nor in any way compensated for my troubles in this server. None of us are obligated to answer so to go in saying, 'Please teach me X' well that depends on the kindheartedness of people in this server
exactly
all of us are too
if you deem they are being rude, or you dont wanna help, just ignore them :P, its voluntary anyways
Right so OP coming in with all caps saying that they have an exam tomorrow and that they need help especially with such a general question (teach me imperative verbs please), it just seems impolite like what aspect of the imperative? its conjugation, how to use it, like what?
i know study/learning servers, i guess users who use 'teach' are more like 'help me', 'explain'. Yes, they did all caps, but afterwards they were quite calm.
at the end of the day, if you a voluntary helper deem this help request rude, just ignore it. if you want to help, do help. its all up to you anyways
Given that OP continued to be impolite when a native – as in someone who could really help them to learn – came in to say that it was their problem for not learning for an exam due the next day (a point illustrated well by Andy), I don't know if that makes it justifiable. Ultimately, it was Nired's problem and the exam was resolved with high marks anyway. I'm just looking at it as someone who's spent time contributing in this space with people who think that they can just come in and expect to be handed everything on a silver platter.
itsnot rude or impolite to ask
i mean it is for helping isnt it
it doesnt take that long
im not gonna be polite si much, if they wanna help me they can 💀
It isn't rude, no, but it is rude to go, 'PLEASE HELP ME I HAVE AN EXAM TOMORROW' and 'please teach me'.
We aren't obligated to help you here, so formulating your questions clearly like, 'Hey, how do you conjugate and use the imperative tense?' is the best way to let people browsing this channel know the topic and the exact thing you're concerned about. Typing in all caps that you need help will just pull people away since we don't know what problem you're having. If someone comes in, willing to help, and as it turns out what you ask isn't something they know the solution to, it'd be both disappointing for you and for the helper.
mais enfin, si tu veux l'aider bon vas-y.
si tu n'en veux pas bon
it isnt rude, if you arent obligated then dont do it 🤷
n'aidez lui pas alors
its just asking and i use caps to show the urgency
je l'ai aidé, n'importe quoi
and i did say thankyou
i agree the caps lock was rude
Its for the urgency
but at the end, yes this is not emergency
but who can actually help him
then help
if they want
and i wanted so i helped
ur all sensitive if u dont like the caps 🤔
it does give the impression of shouting tbh but hey.
you could;'ve asked urgency wihtout caps
"please help me with the imparative tense, i'm struggling, and i have an exam tomorrow"
would have been ideal
but honestly, i saw, i helped, alors quoi
hmm yes but wheres the sense of urgency if its no capital letters
thankyou so much though it helped
now thats your problem.
it was literally perfect
enfin, you are not obliged to answer rude questions
if you think its rude, don't answer, ignore, the mods will do the work if they think its ludicrous.
if you want to answer 'rude' questions, or 'urgent pleads' go ahead
there are people who WANT and CAN do so
like me.
i know it is their expectation for someone to respond, but at the end of the day, if no one responds its not our fault
and if someone does answer in time, well lucky them
Right well I'm just saying that a bit of politeness and clarity will go a long way
Bon, le problème est réglé donc il y a aucune raison d'en parler plus
bon
a long way isnt needed for a few minutes of teaching 🤷
if yall are this sensitive you can just not answer
but tysm for the help
thiss helped
