Please be patient

Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.

Pro tip: you can rename the thread title with `.tr <thread name>`

Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

"will" is not a verb

#

It indicates the future tense

#

There are two base future "tenses" in french, futur simple and futur proche
Futur simple => I will [verb]
Futur proche => I am going to [verb]

#

Futur simple is an actual tense and requires conjugating the verb, same stem as conditional but with avoir present tense as the ending (e.g. manger => je mangerai, il mangera, vous mangerez)

#

Futur proche is just aller + verb infinitive just like in English

#

(they don't always line up 100% with English, as always but they're pretty close in most contexts)

When someone says "Je vais". How do i know it's
I will or I go?

"I am going to"

#

They're virtually synonymous anyways

I get that.

I will understand if I understand the context?

You don't even really need context unless you're confused between "I am going" and "I am going to [verb]"

#

Difference just being whether there's a verb after or not

I see.

Thank you.

It might help to stay within the lanes of present tense, and then move into the future tense. Being able to separate tenses will help you in your studies, knowing which group the verb conjugation falls into.

If a word ends with a t,x, or s that last letter is silent so you don’t say it
