Please be patient

Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.

Pro tip: you can rename the thread title with `.tr <thread name>`

Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

Croire à qqch means believe something to be real or likely.

i was under the impression that croire à qqch means to believe in something like santa or the tooth fairy or some concept maybe

#

should u not use croire que here?

#

pour faire croire que c'était un simple accident

latent portal
#

how do u distinguish "croire à" and "croire que" cause honestly i dont know anymore

sand halo
#

Croire que is just a mere belief in the thing represented by the clause.

#

Je crois que c'est un simple accident = I only believe that it's a simple accident.

#

Croire à makes the thing more real, more likely.

You can have both. You know how negation turns des into de but in oral speech, des is also used.
