Please be patient

Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.

Pro tip: you can rename the thread title with `.tr <thread name>`

Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

"une aura" on its own makes no sense

#

oh, unless you mean "an aura"

#

in my brain I want to read it as "you will have one" -> "tu en auras une"

#

but as far as "t'ai" is concerned, it doesn't exist

#

not with out "je" in front

#

"je t'ai contacté" -> I contacted you

#

but there the t' is the direct object pronoun "te" which elides with "ai" the 1st person singular conjugation of "avoir"

#

you also have "que tu aies" which is a different conjugation of avoir that natives sometimes mistakenly write as "ai" (because it sounds the same)

Curious, why is it auras une and not une aura?

I believed: une/un = a
J'ai un cheval, je veux une voiture.

#

Etc.

it was just my brain misparsing "une aura"

#

"une aura" = "an aura"

#

"tu en auras une" = "you will have one (of them)"

Ah, I see.

Merci beaucoup

Sorry to be asking such deep-end questions, it is my second week of duolingo and french média.

How does meaning change between trying to ask "What are you doing right now?"

Que tu-fais en ce moment?
VS
Que tu-fais, maintenant?

(Or is maintenant for exclusive sayings-)

#

I've been using maintenant for "now".

Copine / petite amie

J'étais à Paris avec mon ex copine.

J'étais à Paris avec mon ex petite amie.

Petite amie sounds a bit more... Kiddish to me
