Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
il est utilisé à la place de oui lorsque la question est négative et que la réponse est oui. Exemple: Tu n'as pas de viande?
Si, j'en ai.
it can also be indicative of a condition, just like "if" in English, or put emphasis on an adjective, similar to "so" in English
It can also be used as an adverb modifying an adjective just like 'so' in English:
« Elle est si grande ! »
'She is so tall!'
oh yup thank you
there seems to be like 4 different ways to say 'so', probably more. any differences between alors, donc and si?
Well in the sense of 'so' meaning 'therefore' there's only alors and donc
alors is more 'then' whereas donc is more 'so' but I think the difference is slight
