Please be patient

Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.

Pro tip: you can rename the thread title with `.tr <thread name>`

Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

tell him that "je vais essayer" doesn't mean the same thing as "je l'essayerai" in the way that "je vais essayer" means "i am going to try" and "je l'essayerai" is in the simple future, and it means "i will try it". If you wanted to say "i am going to try it" in the near future tense, you would say "je vais l'essayer"

sly hearth
#

je vais l'essayer - thank you

junior kiln
#

np they mean the same thing tho js saying

#

bye

#

👍

sly hearth
junior kiln
#

lol

sly hearth
#

but in English i wouldnt have said im going to try

#

i wanted to say "i'll try"

junior kiln
sly hearth
#

that's why i didnt think of using futur proche at first

graceful horizon
#

There is no error in "je l'essayerai"

#

in that it's grammatically correct

hearty finch
#

can i say “J’essayerai” ?

graceful horizon
#

however, depending on the meaning your'e going for or the context in which you're using it, it may not be appropriate

i think that if you’re referring to a specific thing that you’re gonna try (e.g. a clothing piece), you could say « Je vais l’essayer » or « Je l’essayerai ».
however, i think that because you’re referring to trying “to think and talk more French”, it’s not a specific thing, so you should say « Je vais essayer » or « J’essayerai » only

junior kiln
#

its probably "j'essayerai ca"?

hearty finch
#

i’m not sure though ;-;

#

"j'essayerai ça" sounds clunky, but isn't wrong per se

#

if you use essayer with a direct object pronoun, you're talking about something specific
I'll try it

Without a direct object it's more vague or about a suggestion
I'll try
