To @viscid nacelle ,

The Farewell Fund operates a marketplace of resources where we make sure almost every resource is stocked in one convenient location, with dynamic pricing that adjusts automatically to supply and demand.
Our entire business operates on merchanting. We do not produce anything. We are a 0 star company. We provide convenience, centralization, and dynamic pricing as our selling point.
Our margins are razor thin. We rely on bulk sales. If we were forced to raise margins by 5% it will kill the entire business model. People will accuse us of pricegouging and scalping. We would be forced to shut down the marketplace.

5% of zero is still zero.

We humbly request that an exemption be made for 0 star sellers at their own stores in Unica, and that this be considered with high priority. We are racking up a tax bill as we speak.

this sounds like a boon for all Unica citizens and businesses.
as i understand it a resource/product enters the depot and leaves the depot without having been manipulated. meaning appropriate taxes have been accounted for at the source whether they are inside or outside the state.

as Unica gov i see a bonus in it for the people and will support this by excluding the tax under the condition the margin stays razor thin as you say.

Correct. All resources enter and leave without being manipulated. We do no processing of bought/sold goods.

I can confirm that so far the exchange has been extremely popular with Unica citizens as soon as we built a road. We have been unable to handle the traffic at times, even.

#

Multiple cooks in particular have been frequent customers. Having all crops in one location is a godsend for their productivity

viscid nacelle
#

ok. we'll consider this a contract and the exception will be made.
a refund will be made for the taxes spent once the change has been made active

verbal vault
#

Thank you. We appreciate it.
As for the paid taxes, we can leave it be. It's only 30ish euros so far and the law was active at the time so we're okay with just letting it go.

Unica Tax Free zone is created and drawn over what i can see are your stores for now.
i assume this will need to be expanded in the future?

verbal vault
#

Yes, a little bit, but we'll let you know when that happens. Thank you for your help

#

So if I start stripping the world of plants and sell them for absurd high prices do I get a tax exemption too?

viscid nacelle
#

i promise you will not get taxed for your time spent in jail

dark shard
#

Do you realize that is exactly what the Farewell did/is doing?

viscid nacelle
#

i suggest you provide evidence of this in a separate thread

viscid nacelle
#

upon receiving complaints from the public i had a look at a store.
this is not according to the contract

#

@verbal vault the razor thin margins aren't as thin as they were agreed to. this far exceeds the 5%

#

until an explanation is given the exemption is removed from the tax free district

#

if the explanation will not suffice the State of Unica will see this as an intentional breach of contract

The dynamic pricing works such that depending on reserves/limits it opens/closes orders automatically

#

It looks like the carcass store was set up incorrectly with the reserve amounts wrong. Some of our employees are still learning how the system works

#

I've closed the carcass store for now

#

While I fix it

#

I know the UI may be confusing in the tooltip, but the way the dynamic pricing works is such that crops sold to a buy order on the right correspond to a sell order on the left.

viscid nacelle
#

the agreement is that you operate as a 0 star company.
from 12 pound to 32 pound for any product is far beyond what is expected to be transport and storage cost. this is resale with the intent of creating a profit beyond the scope of a 0 star company

verbal vault
#

I understand that the concept is new to White Tiger, here is how it works:
The sell orders on the left are limited by reserves. The buy orders on the right are limited by limits.
A carcass sold to a buy order at 12 becomes available at 14, etc

#

The fact that they weren't was because the carcass shop was set up incorrectly by an employee. The crop stores work fine.

#

The only reason someone would buy a bison for 32 is because the reserve is low enough that it's the only sell order. If that is the case, the buy order at 30 is open

#

We can't exactly automatically close the higher sell orders or we would

viscid nacelle
#

this is not acting as a 0 star company but as a reseller based on localized stock independant from the market.
a 0 star company as defined by law only gets an exemption when actively selling to stores. that means they transport goods from point A to point B.

working with a local dynamic stock is equal to manipulating the product as you manipulate the price based on own stock instead of market stock. market stock is what a 0 star player and or company works with.

verbal vault
#

We are by definition acting as a 0 star company as we are a 0 star company.

#

We do not produce anything

#

We are not 'manipulating' the product, people are buying and selling at our store based on prices that adjust automatically

#

Furthermore, we fully informed you how the store works

#

Some evidence of both buying and selling happening at our store

viscid nacelle
#

by definition of a 0 star company isn't simply having 0 stars.
by not investing into skills you put yourself into a position by transporting items from point A to point B without added cost in taxes. instead your cost goes into the act of transportation. point A and point B are both being seen as stores not owned by the transporter, ie 0 star player.

"as i understand it a resource/product enters the depot and leaves the depot without having been manipulated. meaning appropriate taxes have been accounted for at the source whether they are inside or outside the state."

the manipulation is in the price that are separate from the Federation market but solely based on own stock. that people will sell to your store when a higher price is being offered than what the Federation market might have at any point in time just because you're out of stock is only normal. a 0 star transporter wouldn't passively wait for stock to fill up again but travel the Federation market looking for deals.

you have created a micro market that does not account for the Federation market but arbitrarily set values and stock amounts. that is not how a 0 star player or company can work by default. that is to protect the Federation market.
at this point a mega store is created where the act of transporting might possibly be a side business.

the intent of the 0 star law is being breached

verbal vault
#

We requested an exemption based on the facts of the case

#

That exemption was officially granted.

#

As stated by a government official, this was a binding contract.

#

The terms of that contract are now retroactively being altered

viscid nacelle
#

"as i understand it a resource/product enters the depot and leaves the depot without having been manipulated"

these are the terms of the contract you have agreed to.

verbal vault
#

And this is correct

#

The resources are not manipulated

#

If you believe the contract to be violated, I suggest you file a court case

viscid nacelle
#

"the manipulation is in the price that are separate from the Federation market but solely based on own stock. that people will sell to your store when a higher price is being offered than what the Federation market might have at any point in time just because you're out of stock is only normal. a 0 star transporter wouldn't passively wait for stock to fill up again but travel the Federation market looking for deals."

that is manipulation of product

verbal vault
#

As you stated, the resource is not manipulated.

#

If you believe that buying something for 80 cents and selling it for 85 cents is 'manipulating the resource' then all 0 star companies manipulate the product

#

I should add we do in fact go out and buy items and bring them to our marketplace

#

We do not ONLY passively buy
