Often times I like to have a good conversation with people to get involved with the server, know a bit about other people, and just have a good time within the VC. While I understand that WT has a lot of gameplay elements, the VC has become fairly focused on politics, and it's usually 2 or 3 people speaking for long periods of time without others being able to get involved or speak themselves. I've noticed personally people cutting me off while I'm trying to speak, multiple times, and the chat feels too heavily focused on the political aspect of the game. I'd personally like to see politics being discussed in a designated VC so that the VC isn't dominated by 2/3 people discussing things that doesn't really concern others. That way, when people want to be involved more so with the political side or have a question around the politics, it doesn't overwhelm the VC where we have new players who may not be able to have the break in conversation to ask a question. Personally I've been opting to leave the VC in the past few days because the conversations often lead to politics and become lengthy ones at that. I feel like I can't contribute to what's being discussed because I'm still fairly new to the game myself and would like some break in the conversations or free moments to ask some questions without having to wait 30/45 minutes in the respect of not wanting to talk over someone else.

This isn't directed at anyone specifically, it's just an observation I've made recently and would love to hear others' opinions on it too. 🙂

I agree with the topic idea.

I've been trying to ptu the channel status to "politics" for example, but it gets deleted over time. having a dedicated channel would be useful

#

I noticed that Torne, and I've been trying to pause the discussion to make sure other people don't have questions, but it is indeed a lot of talking with little pauses.

#

Naturally in discussions there might be 2 or 3 people that go on a tirade, and I'd prefer if there was a pre-designated 3-person chat or a culture of peopl eleaving to discuss it

#

Maybe people aren't aware that anyone can create a new channel?

#

Or maybe it should be more clear who the owner/creator was.

At that point I also want to note that there is actually a Government Voice Channel that should be used for any talks that are government internal. I've seen such chats handled in the public voice chats too often. And here also the problem that in some cycles too much government stuff is only handled via voice chat, while gov people that dont use it get excluded. But that is a different topic.

#

But yes, the general idea is that you open voice channels on demand for what you need them and use the status feature to indicate what the topic in that channel is about - and if people want to discuss something else they make just any number of channels they need. So always create your channel with a status and then adjust flexibly from there.

#

One goal of the channels on demand was precisely to help with cutting off and people taking control of the channel topic. But it's ultimately the responsibility of everyone to make use of the feature to create new channels. If a GM is online in such situation, can always let them know privately, so they can make a hint towards maybe a new channel would be suitable. In the end us not able to moderate these channels where tons of people sat on each other was the reason for this measure.

#

In the end in a channel with 10 people it will always be a mess, which is why I wanted to limit it to 5 first, but that was also met with concerns.

Yeh, possible for that case, just a general remark given someone went to the length to make a VC feedback thread.

#

Most stuff I only ever get sent privately, so commendable to just post here for everyone to see.

I suuuper appreciate @fading pollen for publicly bringing it up.
Especially since it's a new setup with it, and there are more options for it.
We all get to learn together, and we can't improve it without feedback.
