and any additional things that vary from game too game, like the contests in Hoen and Sinnoh

and I want to do it all on native hardware

8. Repeat steps 3-7

(In other words just play coloseum and xd they're great games)

It would be a really cool addition to the franchise if it weren’t for the performance issues

Basically in the same boat as legends arceus as being a really fuckin good game that’s a lot of fun if it ran better. Except arceus wasn’t as bad performance-wise

I haven’t run into a lot of the issues people have reported, mostly just poor frame rate. Not enough to make it unpleasant but still sucks

I don’t regret buying it though, probably not worth $60 but meh not enough to complain about

I can see why a super fan would be like man fuck this game worst ever but probably mostly out of frustration for the performance issues persisting despite other switch games handling it fine with better graphics

6/10 would be 8-9 without the glitches and frame rate problems. Wait for patches or a sale to buy

Still better than sword/shield but legends arceus is the best Pokémon game to come out this year for sure if not for the last decade

Disclaimer on all of this, I don’t really give a shit about graphics and performance as long as it’s fun and compelling and it very much satisfies those for me about as much as I imagine a core series Pokémon game could. I compare it to legends arceus because that’s probably the most I’ve enjoyed a game since platinum and is a 10/10 for me, but it’s not core series technically

I think they fell into the trap of modern game release dates/deadlines being way earlier than they actually should be. Scarlet/Violet is a goodass game that was released too early probably so they could sell a shitload on Black Friday and for Christmas. Unfinished is definitely the right word. Killer games that got released before they were done

It’s not gospel that it’s good or bad but it’s very unfinished, but it’s at least very positive that the games have a great core

Legends Arceus was one of the best Pokémon games to date and ScVio shouldn’t have come out this year, maybe a new island for PLA and gen 9 this time next year or so, there’s terrible cases of crunch and unfinished games as of late

I am a super fan and my issues with the game largely come from mechanics

I fundamentally disagree with the removal of the National dex

If the game was flawless I would begrudgingly give it a pass, but they said they cut it for SwSh to make the rest of the game better but that game also was unfished and poorly optimized

and my feelings are the same for this game

there are a few other issues with mechanics, such as going back on the manual evolution that Arceus introduced

I also am fine with worse graphics but I expect some level of competency

and performance issues are not okay.

and everyone realized it was a watered down DP

also iirc GF is supposedly severely understaffed

like purposely. they don't want to hire any more people

and they have terrible development times, having to push as many games out as quick as possible to make as much money as possible even if the end product is lackluster

I haven’t played cyberpunk but my understanding was that game lacked promised content not just having glitches

No one expects voice acting from Pokémon

Not that it wouldn’t be cool, but pokemon has never had that so it’s not like they failed by leaving it out

National dex is a need that definitely makes recent gens in general worse than previous

Scarlet/Violet feels like if cyberpunk had all the content people expected but was glitchy with shitty graphics

As someone who dgaf about graphics and isn’t bothered much by glitches, plus I haven’t really run into big ones, the lack of a national Pokédex and having to wait for dlc for any real postgame is the main thing that’s like, man what the fuck

But both aren’t really surprises though. Fun game

The thing about pokemon games is that they never really get finished

If they ship in an incomplete state, Game Freak rarely finishes it
