#Steam Summer Sale
530 messages Β· Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Oh it's that time of year again?

I've been spending way too much money lately π
yeah! i wasnt sure about pinging you cuz im aware you guys are pretty busy lately but yeah
so far ive just wanted to use it to get some retro-style FPS games
I would like to check the Steam Sale out if one of the batteries in my keyboard didnβt break
The Stanley Parable is very tempting rn
My whole wishlist
which is Portal (1 & 2), CSS, People Playground, and I'm going to gift a friend Half Life 1&2
Oh, and maybe Kill la Kill IF
Do it
SPIRITFARER IS ONLY $6?!?!?!
HOLY SHIT
Definitely get that
fallout 3 complete with dlc is also 6 dollars
Already got it
ya reckon maybe thats why i pinged you lol
i would assume you have a decent playtime on that
Because I already own it?
ok maybe 11 hours isnt that impressive but you are a fallout fan
I actually don't have much time in 3
I started 3 and 4 at the same time and continued with 4, also nowhere near finishing 4 either though
do you have more time in new vegas?
despite it being from essentially a different developer
Yeah I played a decent amount of 4 but I'm still nowhere near close to completing it
There's this too lol
I should play more 3 tbh, the controls are just so clunky compared to the newer games
It's hard to go back to them, even with New Vegas
If the New Vegas mod for 4 ever gets released, I will be ALL OVER THAT
i mean honestly most modern fallout fans completely forget about the existence of the first two anyways
iirc you said you didnt play those before FO3 came out?
I was so confused
π
Could not figure out how to play it at all
I didn't even leave the vault
Just saw this before pinging you in general thread
nothing
I haven't played it in eons but it's so good

I do have Animal Crossing... and a limited amount of money
This emote is unsettling π
Delete this
Stardew is very different than Animal Crossing
I'm sure it is
There's a somewhat similar vibe and chill-ness, but there's so much more to it and more to do than there is in Animal Crossing
π€
Yeah I kind of figured
I would but I want to own these games on a disc
For Stardew Valley
I might have more on Animal Crossing too but idk
Animal Crossing is far more open though
I technically beat Stardew Valley
There is late game content but there's not really additional story
Granted, Eric has added a TON since I last really played so I should probably replay it
Yeah it looks really fun but idk if I want to drag myself down a rabbit hole of playing just one game tbh
Fair
I have many games I haven't touched yet :(
Same
Most of the late game content is just trying to finish the achievements, like...catch every fish, ship every item, find every stardrop, beat the minigames, complete all the Adventure Guild Monster Slayer goals, craft every item, cook every recipe, complete the museum collection...stuff like that, and THAT does kinda feel like Animal Crossing at that point
Right now my list consists of (in order of importance)
- Cuphead DLC (coming out in 4 days)
- Celeste
- Papers Please
- Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe
- Spiritfarer
- Getting Over It (if I'm willing to drop that extra $2)
Yeah that seems familiar lol
I actually did fill the fossil museum in Animal Crossing
But nothing else
I think I did too
i got The Long Drive since it was on sale
Bruuhhh Doom 2016 $5
I did collect all the fish in the OG Animal Crossing
I would love to own all the Animal Crossing games
Eh, they're all pretty much the same with minor differennces
Thank fuck these are all older titles that Ive played bc I have zeroooo money for this one
Slight change in setting, remove some characters, add some characters, add some gameplay, remove some gameplay, etc
they're good as hell but Ive always been indie fan
The OG was the best IMO although there were some REALLY annoying gameplay aspects, like having to write a letter to send a fossil every time. Making Blathers able to identify them for you was the best thing the franchise changed.
The OG characters had so much more life
They would yell at you
And insult you
Now they don't do that
And it felt so worth it when you did
Fr
When I say I want all the Animal Crossing games I really mean just to like... have them. Not to play them all. Might give others a try but yk like you said they're all quite similar with some differences
I never got that into Wild World...probably my least favorite of the games. Although I never played City Folk much...my friend had it but it just felt like a rehash of the original with a few minor differences.
New Leaf had a lot of great gameplay improvements, but holy fuck the villagers felt like they had all been lobotomized
Kind of my mission with media like games, movies, comics etc is to have a big ass library
New Horizons gave them some life back but they still totally pale in comparison to the personalities they had in the first game, and there were a lot more gameplay improvements
To be an amateur historian basically
I like the crafting system though it can be kinda repetitive
I think I might've lent it to my friend, then his condo burned down
YOU HAD ONE???
Yeah
OHHH MANNNN
He swears he didn't have it though but idk where the fuck it could be if he didn't
True...
Lol I'm never lending a copy of Earthbound to anyone
That shit is staying in a case
This was in like...2005
Then again I thought we lost our Sega Master System too but my mom pulled that out of nowhere and was like "Oh we still have that!"
Then I immediately dropped the gun and broke it π
My friend definitely did have my Gameboy Advance when their condo burnt down though
I still have my Genesis
When I thought we didn't have the Master System, my friend bought me an adapter for the Genesis so I could still play the games
Although we only had like 3 Master System games π

I know Genesis Saturn and Dreamcast
Pull the trigger. It's not too much different from the original game but it's got enough lore in it that MatPat made a few new Game Theory videos on it
It's also got different side stories which are kind of cool
I feel like it's probably worth $10 especially considering the original was free
Not especially eventful and I don't think they have a whole lot of horror or any maybe but they're cool to play
I would have paid $20 for the OG game
Oooh It Takes Two is only $16 right now
Oh snap
Actually I would want that physically
On Steam I usually try to get digital only games
I'm just so annoyed because it seems really interesting and I'm sure I'd love it, but the tutorial is so goddamn long. I played through it a long time ago and don't remember SHIT about how to play. There's so much to remember.
I wish they taught you more of it as you go along because I really don't want to go through the tutorial again.
Lol it's that bad huh?
I have 53 minutes of playtime and I don't think I even finished the tutorial
Holy crap
And it's not like the tutorial in Breath Of The Wild. That's long as fuck but it doesn't FEEL like a tutorial nearly as much.
I wouldn't want to do that tutorial either
For real I thought like 20% of the game would be on the Great Plateau and I left it and never went back
Yeah The Witcher 3 tutorial is...ugh. It does cram story into it, but it's essentially just teaching you the controls for an hour, and I don't remember half of it
Like let me learn one thing, get used to it, then teach me the other stuff once its relevant
I like that kind of tutorial
I don't want to learn late game mechanics in the first 20 minutes
Yeah, that tutorial was long, but really well done
To be fair, I don't know if TW3 was teaching me late game mechanics...probably not...but the controls just seem very complex
I'm sure it's fine once you get used to it
I should give it a try
Fallout 4 is $8
The summer sale is always the best sale
Can't...play...Fallout?
Frankly I think my parents have a weird bias against video games. I can watch Breaking Bad so watching intense drug use is apparently okay. I've seen plenty of pretty damn violent movies too. Sex scenes and nudity are cool in movies and the fuck word can fly but my dad needs to do research on Life Is Strange
Maybe it's because they're in their mid-late 50s and they didn't grow up with games like me
π€
So yeah this on a video game makes them say no but on a movie it's aight (this is Fallout 4)
I guess I can kinda see it but Fallout is weird because it honestly depends how you play it
Get papers please
I will
IF my parents don't care about 8-bit nudity
Quite detailed if Iβm being honest
But not that bad
I might get Kindergarten 2 and Microsoft flight sim
Chocolatier not on sale
True with a lot of games
But idk they just don't care
I lied to them and got G-Mod lmfao
Like 3 years ago when I was 12
Kindergarten violent as shit and I want it lol
If I have leftover funds I might XD
Yes haha
There was a sale on it
Before the summer one
Oh shit guys Sex With Stalin is on sale
Game was 90% off
Must buy haha
There's another one called ||Sex With Hitler|| :/
Why does this exist
Heeeey
Raft
nice
15% off sounds too low for a summer sale yeah
Good game however
Oof
I own it, but no. I don't have a proper controller for it.
Yeah I bought it and then just didn't play it for some reason
Gamers are weird
We buy shit and never touch it
lmao yeah
My brother loves it
Technically he bought it for me
I think I've played most of the games I've bought myself
I...uhh.....
What
Where did these come from?
They said they're new to my library
I didn't buy them
I didn't accept a gift or get informed that I'd been gifted anything
I'm very confused
What
Well
Free games I guess?
Is there a way to look at your transaction history
Yeah I'm looking now; it's not there
Thats wierd
Damn I really didn't start using Steam much until 2015 lmao
My recent purchases lmao
I considered it
Damn
awesome
The graphics are great π₯Ί
Also my Spiritfarer playtime
Nice funny number

I should really go back and finish that
I was ABOUT to beat the game but they were releasing an update in about a week so I opted not to
But now I still haven't gone back
Is that what it means when they glow?
I think so yeah
How is this rare?!
I mean I guess if people don't reach late game, but still
That's not exactly a difficult achievement though
More people have cooked every recipe! Bruh
BASTARDS
Take better care of your passengers, people
smh
Thanks
Best rare achievement
I agree
STRONG recommend to anyone who doesn't have this
Ok where is my achievement
lotta fallout 76 purchases

Ouch
Right? π
Some games just do not need to exist
Sometimes I wonder who buys and plays that game enough for it to have so many sequels
Ngl
I got this game free on Epic
Then some games absolutely do
I'm sure it's fine; it says very positive. Just...does it need to exist? π
But if it's free it's kinda cool
Heck no
I'm sure you'll be glad to know a sequel is coming out
π
i love this game so much
im glad it went on sale
the multiplayer is so buggy and bad that its funny
"Lush environments and a world full of life"
OH MY GOD
lol
I think I might have to get this
The graphics are shit but the gameplay looks incredible
It's basically Goldeneye 007 but with penguins
It's early access though π€
It looks hilarious but is it worth $9.74?
I may just put it on my wishlist for now
It is on sale
I feel like maybe I should wait a couple days before I pull the trigger on any purchases
Don't wanna make any impulsive purchases
Yeah and I'm gonna wait until my birthday to buy anything
sounds like a direct upgrade from goldeneye
She's right it is
steam sommer sale
I just bought destroy all humans remake
and quake
I don't think I'll get much more
steam sale is sunk cost FOMO for me mentally
this game rocks honestly
i got it with a humble bundle and it was so chill and fun
I believe it
Don't get me wrong; I'm not making any sort of commentary on the quality of the game
Just the fact that it did not need to be made π
so far these three
Shadow Warrior and Rise of the Triad are cult classic FPS games fron the 90s, and Dustforce is an indie platformer with an excellent soundtrack
hey @slow perch you know anything about final fantasy 4?
It's called FF2 in usa
That's about it lol
I haven't played it
I've played 5, 6 and 7
Dabbled in 9 tried 10
oh, i was just wondering cuz this version of it is on sale
the DS remake, ported to pc
i'll just ask the ff server lol
Rise of the triad has possibly the best game ost
YOU HAVEN'T?!?!
ah fuck im sorry laura i guess i should've asked you
so yeah do you know anything about that
I mean...I haven't played it since I was a kid and don't remember much about it, but I enjoyed it
I literally own 8/7 for ps1 and havenβt played 8 & have not replayed 7
I wanna play OG 7 again to quell this remake propaganda
I feel like the remake is bad but Iβll only properly know for myself after replaying 7 on my playstation and immediately going into the new one
Well they've split the remake into two because the game was kinda split into two design wise already. Midgar, and then the open world. So they made the first remake, linear, cinematic and story based, they made intergrade.. because they're going to take time and make the second one decent hopefully. Literally Zack hadn't even been introduced
I'm a pretty big ff fanboy so I've got huge hopes that ff16 is everything ff15 should have been
I like 6/7
Gonna tell you right now cat has like a hundred hours on that game
Honestly I'm sure it's fun. That's just an awful deal.
She bought it full price, just a release like that I donβt know if it gets a big discount yet
I moved her into stardew valley just today though, so hopefully she gets more out of that lol
@native wave I bought Papers Please and Celeste! :D
I bought another king of fighters game from the summer sale
I really enjoy kof '98 so this'll be fun to try
Letβs goo
both classics
bought this game called dungeon siege 2 but for some reason the mouse input doesn't work at all
I need to look but idk if I'll get anything
i got Surgeon Simulator
thats a game i have heard about for a really long time but have somehow never played it
well that period of time is over
i watched smosh games play it way back in 2013
Surgeon simulator is fun
it certainly did look fun, and extremely hilarious
also AT LONG LAST
i bought cuphead
on switch tho
but im putting this here cuz seeing the price on the steam sale is what got me to consider whether i should get it on switch or pc
and its on sale for the same price on switch
@digital shore
@night epoch Let me know how hard it is for you hehe
i cant do it currently

i tried it earlier today
its a megaman type thing
that style of game has always been hell for me
They have run and gun levels and boss fights
enemies always come at you from both sides at once
Hehe
thats why i could never even get past the first level of NES contra
ive tried many times in my life
Get the chaser shot from Porkrind's and you'll do better I bet
It's got like homing targets
@native wave are there any easy to run indie games you'd recommend if they're on sale?
here's a list of all the indie games i do have, for reference
it was on sale for a really good price awhile ago
NIGHT IN THE WOODS
i played a little bit of it
i think its a tad clunky but i'd say its a bit underrated
i like it
is blackgate the spinoff one that got put on the 3DS? or like the PSP i can't remember
the handdrawn artstyle in the cutscenes is excellent
it was released for 3DS and vita originally
it was ported to 360 and ps3 first
i think only a little while after the game came out
which i think was the same year as the main Arkham Origins game
i think i got it for like 4 dollars
I always really liked origins and this 2D spinoff type game interested me
That's pretty cheap
Steam reviews are wacky
Those reviews are all 100% accurate
Blackgate converts the arkham gameplay to 2.5d style
it feels limited because of this at times but idk
the story was well written
i dont think i'd mind playing the whole thing through
Ah
ok maybe i will this time
but no other recs??
I'm surprised out of all games origins got a 2.5d spinoff
Nothing I can think of off the top of my head but if I think of anything else I'll let you know
yeah, considering its reputation
Night In The Woods is SO GOOD though
I wonder how something like city would've been in a 2.5D setting
I might pick it up, it sounds cool
it was so unfairly criticized at lauch that Rocksteady ended up refusing to ever remaster it
or even acknowledge it in their final game Arkham Knight
Origins is really fun
It's not as like, pushing the limits and evolving the series like in city or night but it still has a pretty decent story and a wicked cast of characters
Origins had a surprisingly amazing deep dive into the joker/batman relationship
Yeah true
like jesus fuck
I think Troy baker (iirc) as joker wasn't bad
it was so good you forget that the characters aren't played by Conroy and Hamill in the game
i enjoyed Deathstroke alot in it but wished he was in it more
Yeah the deathstroke boss fight was awesome
Too bad that's like all you see of him in the entire game
like no shit man, batman was played by sonic the hedgehog
and i still completely bought his portrayal
LOL Yeah
I wanted to get Knight on steam since its on sale but I heard the PC Port is Horrid
even tho any sonic actor's voice is always recognizable to me in their other roles lol
that is correct
Knight is actually the one ive played the most of
Lol
I tried playing Knight earlier this year
knight has so many intricate side quests
I gave up about 3 hours in because I hated the bat-mobile parts so much
with full voice acting
Yeah the side quests are really good
I like the art style too
I picked up Metal gear solid 5 on sale
The only other MGS game I've played was the Metal Gear Solid 3 demo for 3DS
i didnt
I definitely recommend it. It's also a game that needs to be played twice. And there's mini games. The art and music and story are all top notch. I'd consider it one of my favorite games.
they were fine
I'll definitely check it out thanks for the recommendation
i think the batmobile sections get too much hate
I just got really annoyed with how it was in the beginning, I spent half an hour trying to get past the beginning part of the batmobile section
I couldn't make some of the jumps and I just got really annoyed
like i'd understand the criticism if the batmobile wasnt used in cool and creative ways
but i think it was!
There's definitely some cool parts with it
the riddler race challenges
The drill boss fight was used well
prime example
But I think in parts like the Deathstroke tank battle it wasn't as cool
Knife fight

It just has so much heart and tackles some difficult subject matter in a very realistic way
I still gotta finish playing through Gregg's storyline but some of his minigames are a bit annoying
yes nitw is my favorite fucking game
i need to replay the bea storyline i havenβt done it in a while
honestly got so many games I bought and didnβt play
gotta go back and just replay a buncha stuff for like a year and then Iβll be back on my bullshit of going hoggg on steam sales
I know my name isn't Laura but here are a few
I wanna get Kindergarten 2 so bad but I already know what happens lol
I used to watch Jacksepticeye play it a while ago
Such weird but good games
just nabbed elder scrolls oblivion
either oblivion or one of the older ones
I played it before but never got to into it
