@fair apex i listened to good kdid and u were right its wya better than tpab
even though they are both amazing albums good kid better
i went back on that actually
but theres so much thats different between them i can understand either pov
good kid has more typical beats and deliveries, tpab is more based on more traditional (i think thats the right term) african music with more or less no reliance on beats with atypical lyrical style and delivery
yes i think the right opinion is that kensrick lamar is an amazing rapper and we are lucky to breathe the same air as him
nah
cos you gotta be in a special state to fully listen and appriciate it
good kid mad city is where i started
It's more of an art piece than a rap album you can jam to
exactly
which is why i dont listen it very much lol
Pretty sure ive listened to the whole thing once
and thats it
I still prefer it over damn though
Like as a whole
Damn has like 4 songs I really like
humble, dna, element, xxx feat. U2
pride?
damn is half amazing half ???
really? imo it's all amazing. it's such a solid record its insane
I love pride so much 🥲
god I can understand tho
my fav song from that record is LOVE., which is also in my top 3 fav Kendrick songs
damn is a 7/10 at best
imo
that’s fair
I got it at an 8.5
my personal kdot ranking is
GKMC
MMATBS
DAMN
TPAB
SEC80
is gk the top?
i mean for me sec80 is better than damn
ye
i know I don’t have a popular opinion ab his albums but GKMC and MM are insane to me
u good
i mean i agree with you on the placement of maad city
its my personal fav
Butterfly is more of an artpiece so if you're someone who prefers ear-catching beats its not really gonna hit that much
and that was kinda my takeaway from it
i dont think overrated is the right word for it
but its certainly not something i consider my favorite, based on personal taste
Morale certainly stood out to me more with its beats
I definitely agree. It’s a beautiful album and I love it to death but it’s not something I can listen to a lot with the exception of a handful of bangers
and so it’s lower on my list
thread was too dead to bring up the beef
Album ranking
#5 Section.80
#4 MMATBS
#3 DAMN.
#2 TPAB
#1 GKMC
I have the most basic K.dot ranking possible 😭
Damns really grown on me a lot
AAAAAAAAAAAA🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
Best album ever
- GKMC
MMATBS
DAMN
TPAB
SEC80
kendrick > drake
Obviously
How is that even an opinion
It's a widely accepted fact
Or should be
Kendrick is:
More skilled at rapping
More charismatic rapper
Better lyricist
Better songwriter
DOESN'T LIKE 14 YEAR OLDS
LOL
i like MMATBS and S.80 more than DAMN personally
Kendrick is fire and drake is fire on mute
Fr
Drake is only successful because he's still popular, but in reality, his last good album was in 2016
I’m personally still a pretty decent Drake fan. despite him as a person, dude has classics and still puts out pretty alright music
I really enjoyed Certified Lover Boy and parts of For All The Dogs
also Passionfruit is one of the greatest songs ever made
say that you a-
I'm not that big into Kendrick but I loved GKMC and TPAB
I haven't listened to rap in general in a while though, I should probably revisit him
i mean
no
theyre both on rotation
clb was good but everything after that other than maybe honestly never mind
was ass
real
I lowkey feel the opposite, bc I really liked CLB but I hated Honestly Nevermind 😭 and I enjoyed a good chunk of his last album and Her Loss was alright
fairs tbh, clb way too overhated its a vibe
hard agree, that album gets way too much hate. it has its duds but overall it’s pretty damn good
i love its ambience if yk what i mean
like in 2 deep
girls want girls
love all
like i can go on and on about all the songs that just make me feel like im lying on a cloud
then it has some harder songs that hit
I get exactly what you mean
IMY2 is the one that makes me feel like that the most
the songs on that album are so vibey even if the lyrics are weak at times
yeah cudis 2020-2021 run was crazy
yeah hard agree
lyrics are weak i think thats why its hated
but its not really one of those albums where it matters
say that you a lesbian girl me too
I always forget that Swimming Pools is on GKMC
I always think of it as Section 80 for some reason
It took all the way until i for me to realize "holy fuck, this album is good"
Good kid maad city is a 10/10
Relistening to mr morale rn
Make sure when you do you listen to the deluxe version
The minivan one yeah?
Some good shit on there
i love the song with mary j blige
Yes!
Some people consider that the official cover for it
Which to be honest, I think it makes more sense for the themes of the album
Do yall prefer MMATBS or DAMN.
XXX is one of my favorite kendrick songs tho
but its still MM for me
Duckworth is peak
Everyone's coming in here every few days to ask which albums we prefer, but no one ever talks about the diss tracks
Not Like Us is the best song from Kendrick
Meet the Grahams is the best diss
Family Matters is the best song and diss for Drake
- Not Like Us
- Meet the Grahams
- Euphoria
- Family Matters
- 6:16 in LA
- Push Ups
- Taylor Made Freestyle
- The Heart Part 6
Not like us and euphoria are a tie for my favorites
Yeah
I would also say meet the grahams, but its like slightly lower for me due to sheer lack of replayability from it being such a demented and haunting track
I just love Meet the Grahams so much
yeah but you cant crip walk to it lmao
LMAO yeah
its crazy to me that not like us might actually be his biggest song
in terms of numbers and mainstream staying power
the diss track
not anything that was from his own unique artistic visions for his albums
for a diss track to be this huge is kinda unheard of
I mean, not even story of adidon was this big and thats the one that exposed drake having a son
best rapper

Mines duckworth
Kendrick is a band but I'll let this one slide bc he's goated
XXX easily
the beat switch is fuckin awesome and the U2/Bono feature goes so hard
W
DNA
father time is def one of the best songs from mr morale
Song: We Cry Together - Kendrick Lamar
Original video: https://youtu.be/npiLJLEpPhE
Twitter: https://twitter.com/AGuyOnThe_Net
that has nothing to do with the topic of this thread
dumbass
Just in case any of you guys are interested
oh i see what the problem is
it doesnt allow puncuation in titles
Rap
i'll start this off by saying i fuckin adore Kendrick Lamar's new album
like i could cry its so good
I've heard a few songs off the new album and they are quite good
its a masterpiece
I should also say I'm one of the people that didn't vibe with To Pimp a Butterfly as much as everyone else did
It's a great album but for some reason I just like MAAD city better
I don't know I guess I think the beats on that one aren't really my thing
i click with the intrumentals on Mr Morale alot more
did i do something wrong jason if so i am sorry
Kendrick Lamar
I’ve actually never listened to Kendrick before but I love Eminem and saw he was blown away by this album. Gonna check it out tomorrow. I’ve obviously heard a lot of great things about him before but I don’t know a single song lol
oh i read that article too! one legend looking out for another
and the album is actually phenomenal
Em is very correct
his praise is 110% founded
I’ll check it out or is there a better album to start with for a newbie?
Oh yeah, Section.80 is a good place to start
Sounds good, I’ll try that one first
its his first main album
Overly Dedicated you could start with too
but its considered to be a mixtape
hmm
id feel like to pimp a butterfly is the easiest to get into in terms of getting into his sound
and after that you get MAAD City, which is not only my favorite Kendrick album but one of my favorite albums of all time
yea great album
I don't know why I just can't get into Butterfly as much
Of course the lyrics are still great but i prefer Maad City's beats
yea i just think tpab is more consistent
I don't know his commentary on the experience of growing up in Compton is more interesting to me
yea i honestly find myself going back to tpab more
Maad city (the song) is one of my favorite songs ever
for me (ik no one agrees with me on this) but gkmc doesnt get good until the art of peer pressure
i dont find the first 3 tracks all that good
but art of peer pressure onwards is all great
shit that i understand
Backseat freestyle doesnt exactly fit much with the rest of the album's narrative
i think it does just i dont like it that much
Maybe I'm just biased because I love the mad city song so much
But I don't know I think I even like Mr. Morale more than to pimp a butterfly
idk
mr morale just isnt as appealing to me
like its a great album just i wouldve consider it as appealing as gkmc, tpab or damn
I'm gonna try to keep listening to it more but so far I think it's incredible
ive listened to just about the whole thing once
oh nice
good kid, m.A.Ad city turns 10 this year
its probably one if my favorite rap albums ever
yea def top 5
(out of the 2 and a half rap artists ive heard an album from)
might as well just put my top 5 rap albums
- to pimp a butterfly
- late registration
- my beautiful dark twisted fantasy
- good kid maad city
- rage against the machine
Rage doesn't count
