you still have to explore but instead of walking back and forth you can just /tp 'waypoint name' or something

you should be able to ignore warnings as long as the datapack still works
sometimes people don't update datapacks if nothing in the game breaks them
you could in theory have datapacks from 2018 (when they were first added) that still work today
