I got to see 'em in march (muse in march in montreal with my friend mythee... m-m-m-m-madn-) and for a band that puts out some of the best and coolest most layered music out there... they sure don't interact with their audience like most x'D

People think of it as the dubstep one when really just as much of it is more like orchestral rock

When I say this, I mean things like lyrics and such too

Half of the album is about the theme of insanity, then Matt lost the plot and started talking about 9/11 conspiracies, and then there's some songs that have nothing to do with either of the main themes it was supposed to be about

The lyrics themselves are also inconsistent in terms of quality imo

Some of the songs, like Ruled By Secrecy and Sing For Absolution, are really solid lyrically

Better than pretty much all of Matts lyrics on Origin and Showbiz

But then there's songs like Apocalypse Please and Time Is Running Out which have some of his worst lyrics up to that point

They're better than like Liberation and shit but they were worse than what we had already seen imo

And it's one of the only Muse albums that I feel has "filler"

Small Print and Thoughts of a Dying Atheist imo aren't up to the same standard as the other songs musically or lyrically, they feel way too basic and subdued compared to the other songs

Most of the album is super grandiose and epic, very intricately arranged

Even the heavier cuts like Stockholm Syndrome and Hysteria

Then Small Print comes out with nothing to really speak for in terms of interesting production other than a cat meowing sound before the bridge

And Thoughts of a Dying Atheist barely even feels like a Muse song to me

It just feels generic
