Me review of SRC after a couple hours:

• the game is manic
• the game is FUN
• it looks FINE
• items are a lil confusing but probably due to lack of tutorials
• tracks are fun, 3 so far
• there is a “gadget system” (you can choose things to enhance, like “air tricks faster” or “this item is better than usual” and other things, this system is really cool and I like it a lot.
• there is customisation! It’s small, but it’s good enough.
• the animations, are very good! Sonic and co are lively in their cars, best they’ve been in kart racers I think since all stars racing 1 tbh
• worth playing! Remains to be seen how the story adds up.

All in all:

1. Feels better than TSR
2. Has POTENTIAL to beat ASRT, but only that. As it stands, it’ll rival the first game.
3. It’s FUN.

1. Sonic & All Stars Racing: Transformed
2. Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds
3. Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing
4. Team Sonic Racing

And then all of the sonic drift and sonic riders games at the bottom because I haven't played them yet

I'd say crossworlds is pretty neck and neck with transformed
then the original sonic and sega is pretty close to them, then team sonic racing is just so far behind because i just found its gameplay to be so bland

It’s all too easy to keep transformed at the top with rose tinted glasses but frankly I can only see the character selection being minutely better if you like less sonic

Everything else in crossworlds did it better to some degree

As you play as well it gets more understandable

Hello everybody it’s sonic leak season here is my dump of “idk maybe” knowledge from the internet

So apparently the name Sonic Eclipse is being passed around, really a “we have Sonic Adventure 2 at home” type of thing.

A lot of leaks are chatting about a sonic and shadow duo game, mentioning other characters possible? And the removal of boost, in place of a spin dash. (Very SA2 at home). Combat is drawn back but still present and less flashy, cyloop and frontiers style moves are back but more wind based than electric/cyber?

Leaks chat about islands, unlocking as the game goes on, and specifically a main city, likely on island one. Additionally the return of sage, but I haven’t seen to what degree.

Now these are leaks but it’s being passed around quite extensively, so much like when frontiers was being leaked as “rangers” i am inclined to believe there’s some traction

There has ALSO been reports of Sonic Unleashed: Definitive edition with this same person chatting about Eclipse.

This suggests, in short:

• shadow as a rival in day stages
• knuckles as a rival in night stages (think metal sonic in colours ultimate)
• DLC involved
• medals continue but lessened requirements, incorporating some DLC levels and moving around the order you do a handful of things
• visuals, remixed tracks, the usual

Now if I see this I’m falling out of my chair and screaming, but genuinely what else is left for sega to remaster from that era of sonic? Unleashed is the last game outside of 06 that would actually be able to be remastered, everything after would need to be remade

• boost removal would be strange, but expected. It’s been lessened ever since generations to a decent degree and Kishimoto has spoken on record about experimenting. To be honest I don’t like spinning rather than running, I find running to be more visually interesting, and the fastest thing alive should have a go fast button
• the premise is very SA2 and sure, that’s great. I fully expect writing to be decent at worst because anything with shadow as a main role brings opportunities for more interesting stories.
• combat being a little different may be odd, sonic regularly can flatten cunts with ease and I enjoy that to a degree, but I expect the game to still be very fast paced so I’m not fussed

As for Unleashed: Definitive Edition

if you ask me, games like colours and especially ultimate are way more worth your time if you go for the 100%

games like 06 and unleashed do give you a lot from just beating them, mainly because 100% does nothing

yeah honestly i still think it isnt quite worth it to play the remaster if its a 4 hour game (to beat the core levels) especially when i have the original

what do like about sonic forces

oh cool

• graphically it's pretty nice,
• the boosting levels albeit primitive are still good fun to blast through, and i like the environments like sunset heights and eggman fortress
• it (for a while) was the only 3d sonic game i could play portably, on switch
• it is very rewarding to 100%, with constant unlockables and things to do
• I like customisation, even if the avatar kinda sucks, the costumes are cool
• i like the music quite a bit actually

plus, being such a fan of the 3d games i have a base "i like to play them" factor to add on too

but i really do appreciate a sonic game that rewards you for pushing it to 100%, generations did it massively and colours did a decent amount

unleashed doesnt do this at all and its my biggest gripe, i got nothing for that

i watched the completionist 100% sonic forces and i quite liked his take actually

it was more enjoyable to 100% than it was to casually finish

if you have it already, it's worth a try - it's not a bad game
but it also depends on your opinion on the other boost titles, and what you liked about those
