I think people prefer gamepass or PSN way more than Nintendo online because it’s a heap of bs dependent on inconsistencies like wether they’ll even keep certain games like available, wether they’ll make online a paywall, wether a game will just randomly be a limited time purchase, what their future retro output will even be

They're different in a lot of ways, but the comparisons are definitely warranted

In general I think that's the biggest difference in vibe. In Cowboy Bebop everyone takes themselves more seriously and seem more...introspective, whereas in Trigun most of the characters are more...I don't know how to describe it

They wear their hearts on their sleeve more? There's a lot less mystery. Like, you feel like you know them and who they are and what they're about much faster. But not in a one-dimensional way because they've got plenty of depth. It's not immediately apparent, but it's slowly introduced as those aspects of their personalities become relevant. They come across more...confident in who they are? Equally shit world, but less pessimistic? Not afraid to show their flaws?

I'm still very early in Cowboy Bebop but it's slowly coming back to me

Trigun is definitely...goofier, where Cowboy Bebop takes itself more seriously, and Cowboy Bebop's animation is much cleaner. But there's definitely similarities. I think these are the main reasons that Bebop is usually considered the "better" show. Much more palatable for non-anime fans too.

Episode 12 is where it introduces an actual plot arc that lasts for most of the rest of the series. Then episode 13 is a recap episode.

These are really the only episodes you HAAAAVE to watch to really get the overall plot. Not to say the other episodes aren't good or are filler...Quick Draw and Escape From Pain are both fantastic

The show starts REALLY getting good at episode 5: Hard Puncher, so if you didn't make it that far, I highly recommend continuing.

Weirdly I watched it completely out of order my first time because I watched whatever VHS I could get my hands on haha. I ended up seeing a lot of the latter episodes before the earlier ones and tbh I'm a little glad I did.

Now I'm rereading the Trigun manga...starts at essentially episode 5 and just throws you RIGHT in. Similar vibe but feels extremely rushed, and I feel like the voice acting and animation of the show add so much more emotion. Trigun Maximum is supposed to be better, and I didn't get very far into that, so I'm looking forward to reading it.

Manga Vash is clever and a bit of a sad sack, but not nearly as wild or chaotic

I will say that even though the manga feels very rushed in comparison to the show, I do like that things are explained much more clearly. In the show sometimes if you don't pick up on a single line's implication, you miss important info, and because there's more filler/a slower pace, you never know when important info is coming.

I also find it interesting how they rearranged the chronology...technically I guess episode 4 was the manga pilot, but it's kind of a standalone bonus chapter. Then it starts at episode 5, jumps to 7 and 8, 14, back to 12...

I'll also say that I really appreciate the filler they added in the show. I think it really helps to set the tone of the show. There's one minor spoiler that happens like REAAAAAALLY early on in the manga that doesn't happen until halfway through the show: ||Vash's bounty is removed and he's designated a localized disaster and instead of trying to capture him, they're officially just supposed to stay the fuck away from him||. I think this was done better in the show because ||it really shows you what Vash's life has been like up until this point, and what he's been dealing with, and how he's earned his reputation. His bounty only drew more trouble to him and caused more destruction.||

Although after that happens, ||you'd think life would improve, except that's when Knives sends a team of assassins after him, but at least he's no longer dealing with bounty hunters I guess?||

I also hate how on streaming services the opening credits are the same every time. They originally had clips unique to every episode, and halfway through the show the shot with ||his wanted poster|| changes to reflect what I mentioned above.

Okay I just checked and it updates on the subbed version on Hulu but they made it so the same for the dub. That's fucking annoying.

It wasn't like that in the original release because I watched the dub and it had that.

Sorry I'll stop ranting now.
