#

ok so i was tryna give another chance to st. anger's snare sound

#

ik this is normie but i just can't

gray pecan
#

there's some songs in st anger that work with that snare but for the most part it just gets annoying

gloomy rock

me in 2019 not knowing anything about music

youtube convinced me from st anger hate that

lmao

glad sigil
#

in st. anger (the song) it doesn't work

gray pecan

i think it does in the part after the riff

the only songs i like are st.anger, frantic, some kind of monster and dirty window

@livid notch It's nice to see a big artist covering and supporting an indie band

livid notch

ay thats nice

atomic urchin
#

do u guys think this album is good

#

i saw it on a list for albums that wouldnt exist without dookie

lofty crystal
#

very much defined the late 90s pop punk tone and songwriting style

kindred pier
#

and then dookie was influnced by loads of other ideas that were forming up

lofty crystal
#

way more than the other big punk rock bands of the mid 90s, although rancid heavily influenced the popularity of ska punk (unfortunately), and the offspring influenced some pop punk songwriting and such

#

but pop punk can pretty much all be traced back to descendents

kindred pier
#

blink 182 was a very big thing for how pop punk evolved

#

true

lofty crystal
#

first punk band to write punk songs not about politics and social stuff, but “i like girl but girl not like me”

and essentially make punk relatable for suburban kids

sublime??

worthy nova

Why sublime is on there confuses me

livid notch

best sublime album is robbin the hood prove me wrong

worthy nova

Robbin the hood is good but it's lack luster imo

#

It's odd and it's low production

#

I would honestly say 40z to freedom is the best

#

I love greatest hits and pool shark and quite a few others on robbin the hood it just doesn't hit very well

livid notch
#

self titled is good but songs like santeria dont feel right and i cant tell if its because theyre overplayed or not

Self titled is very good but the last half of the album doesn't do it for me

one thing i like is when songs modulate from vi to I (for example olivia rodrigo's good 4 u, which modulates fron F#m in the verses to A in the choruses)

kindred pier
#

I like the verse riff from Condition Oakland by Jawbreaker, it goes F#m to Ab to A

#

a very smooth sound but it's not that used a lot, that vi-I resolution

#

you need something else for it to crutch on to help it stand up

#

@prisma mist Ima reply here. They only have a couple short EPs and two short albums, so honestly any of it? Panic Vertigo is a little more straightforward pop punk, Infinitely Ordinary has a bit more indie rock influence and is a bit more unique, but also maybe polarizing if you're not a fan of the kind of talk-singing he does on a couple tracks. Static is more indie pop, and Sonder is more pop-rock/indie-pop...still rocky, but definitely more pop influence than they'd had previously

random topaz

also they feel scarier for some reason
