#Saviors Discussion

YES‼️
Did anyone get the cassette?
Yeah
Was kinda shocked they had it at the store ngl
I saw a reviewer take every song on the album and say “this sounds like x, this sounds like y” and then proceed to play those songs
Like Bobby Sox sounding like Teenage Dirtbag lmao
yeah
That is not a good way to review music
i prefer graffitia
Was it Brad?
Because that shit was so damn annoying
There are billions of songs, one of them is gonna sound vaguely similar. It's not even that the songs sounded the same, only the same tempo
To be fair, I think I can name a soundalike for almost every song on the album
Regardless, it's really weak criticism for modern pop rock music
"It sounds like a truck commercial"
That's what Fever sounds like to me
Tbf
Most songs are going to sound like other songs
You cant truly make something original
Anyhow
Fellas
The tape sounds like absolute dog shit
There’s no leader tape for some reasob
Leader tape is the clear tape that comes before the actual contents
What is this shit
I paid 21 bucks for this
As for the booklet they're all like that
I think it's on purpose kind of like how chaotic the insomniac lyrics page is
Man I have seen my history teachers printed packets
This is not intentional
Their printers were probably low on ink
inshallah 🙏
im prolly gonna get flamed and lynched for this but i think corvette summer is the worst on the album
i just dont vibe with it
Can't hear you over the cowbell
fuck
haters speak to the cowbell
It’s def in the bottom for me but I still really like the song
Just not as good as the rest
I promise that it is
Bro is playing too much corvette summer
Josh promises
I swear
I don’t know why this image was attached to this document, but it made my day when I had to e-sign a legal doc that had this on it
congratulations, your middle name has been officially changed to “Bastard”!
one bastard eyed
Thats Mr. One Bastard Eyed
hello zere
This is the document of all time
Any news on expected sales?
CD arrived yesterday and I listened to it while driving on the highway with nothing to do but listen to the music distraction-free
Pretty safely sitting at fourth favorite
All I know is that it’s tremendously topping in the UK, idk how it’s doing in the US
I just found out the Linda Linda's were in the Bobby sox video , lmao
I think we will know sales on Saturday when the billboard 200 is updated
Or maybe it’s the following Tuesday after Saturday
I don’t remember ope I just know it will be the one dated the 27th
I gotta learn to read charts better Jesus Christ disregard all that
The one dated February 3rd lol
my shit been pending acceptance for a minute
Only in Ohio
Just realized the verses for 1981 is similar to that of Church on Sunday
Which makes sense given their respective chord progression are practically the same
I’m certain it’s just never coming at this point
Mine did that shit
Kept saying it was coming then ext day and then moving it over a day
My record got delivered but it got delivered to my parents house and im at college rn Sadge
Yeah same
Ive been surfin youtube looking at reviews and album rankings. Its interesting to see the different responses to the album
To me Saviors is pretty top notch considering that music quality is getting worse each year.
Fuck this tape
I re recorded the album onto a blank and transplanted the re recorded version
WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU IN CINCINNATI
Mine went from Cleveland to Buffalo to Rochester and then back to Buffalo
Question
Do y’all think the setlist from the tour will be mixed or is it Dookie, AI, then Saviors?
The albums will be in order of the tracklist. I think there will be a few non saviors AI or dookie songs. (good riddance will def be one)
Not sure if they start the set with Dookie because burnout is sorta a deepcut.
Question
I got one of the numbered baby pinks from 1234 go and I'm super new to vinyl, I thought the record sleeve was going to have the # not the plastic wrap on the outside. Is it worth it to leave this vinyl unopened and go buy a standard store one or am I putting too much value on the "limited edition" factor?
I think it’s all but confirmed that they’ll be doing Dookie, then like 45 minutes of other songs, then American idiot
I think all the variants are “limited edition”… I don’t collect vinyls like that necessarily as in, if I still wanna play them and open them, but if you’re not looking to resell it should be fine to open
Ah I see. Thought it’d be cool to go like dookie song > ai song > saviors song > repeat
kind of just a personal thing, if you want to open rare/limited ones then go for it
The VIP for Atlanta is like $600+ when I looked last
Thanks for the feedback! I was kinda thinking on the same lines, but I always think about how much it would suck to have owned something that became rare or valuable and you either ruined it or got rid of it before knowing its worth. I think I'll slit the plastic and try to keep the numbered sticker
Yes
For my venue it would be
You get the Green Day backstage experience AND Wembley backstage experience out of mind
What do you think? Is $600+ worth it for Truist Park in Atlanta?
Considering going broke 🤣
Shit, they went up to like $700+
Nvm, should have grabbed them the other day
I'm just waiting till I have enough money to buy 3 regular pit tickets
The things we do for these 3 ragtag musicians from the Bay area
I'm even flying to London instead of going down to Dublin
I have vip just so I can be in a shorter line for the pit
I was thinking of just getting there extra early
I don’t think the VIP actually gets you early entry if I’m being real
It doesn’t but it gets you in a shorter line which could get you in earlier I guess
If you’re not one of the first people in the regular line
Some events have where you get into the venue early and see the bands setup and equipment before everyone else can get in
I didn’t pay for that though
Because too expensive also you forfeit your spot at the front of your pit basically if you do that
Would be worth if you were in seats though
No this would be a limited amount of people and than they will most likely bring you back to a holding area before you go back they did that when I went to a Gorillaz concert
Idk I read stuff from other people who did it for Green Day concerts and they said they had to forfeit their front row pit spot basically
were any of the citi ticket master seats vip?
None better than FOAM
But at this day and age idk if numbers are good or bad for a rock band?
I really don’t care about charts and numbers but a number one would’ve been cool
I’m not surprised but I don’t care.
Green Day isn’t particularly mainstream anymore. 🤷🏻♂️
Its almost like we need a new band to do what GD did in the 90’s and make pop-punk mainstream again haha
#4
it’s over
we lost
we've got Machine Gun Kelly 🤓
(jk)
its mainstream its just a different pop punk... its artists like mgk and olivia rodrigo. I wouldnt use the word artist for mgk though. Theres alot of less mainstream pop punk thats great.
Lets see how long it stays in the charts tho..
The Making of Coma City just dropped
We really need a documentary on the making of this album at this point
I feel like they have the footage too
With what we've gotten to see so far I'm sure they do
Number 4 at the US ?? But number 1 in the UK ..
The problem here is Billie. I don't care about his political views but he should stop protesting during their live performances.
Americans hates him now and it's affecting his band.
But who care cares about sales when you're a millionaire right? Not Billie for sure
Yeah. Just play the guitar mate lmao
L
L take, as they say
Acting like he hasn’t been doing that forever
If Americans hate him for saying shit like not a part of the MAGA agenda then that’s just filtering out the shit anyway, oh no gee wiz racist idiots aren’t buying the album
Anyway Bobby Sox is still so damn good every listen and I'm never getting over this one
Total bomb they gotta stop being political /s
#4 is pretty cool though
#4 overall in the country and #1 on all the rock and alternative charts is awesome for a band that's been putting out major label albums for 30 years
Also Dilemma is finally charting now
In the US
In the top 30 for mainstream rock at least I mean
Debuted at #25 while american dream is still charting at #9 on that one
Only band with two songs in the top 30 right now
Charting on alternative too, late bloomer
Well deserved though
That’s amazing
This is such an L take
Your take: “stop speaking about things you believe in so you can make more money”
"Stop speaking the same things you've been saying since 2004 when it could have actually been career suicide to protest the Iraq War"
Just my take.
What do I know about America since I don't live there anyways
Just hoping the boys don't attract haters more than they already have now.
Great publicity, getting haters for spreading the right message
they’ve been political for 20+ years I don’t think that’s what’s hurting sales
their audience has never been comprised of mostly those who get mad at their politics
the people fuming about green day’s politics and saying they’re “never going to listen to green day AGAIN” after new year’s eve are a very loud but very, very small minority
their sales being “bad” is a combination of rock music not being mainstream, modern streaming sales rules and Green Day being like 20 years past their prime
but even then 50k first week sales is pretty damn good
the band itself has been on a downward spiral critically for the last 10 years
and after Father of All it’s just popular to hate on Green Day
Funny that being one of the top 5 records in the country is bad sales
that’s the thing too lol it’s not even close to bad
sure when you compare it to their previous sales it looks bad
but the sale rules are so different now than 20 years ago
Cringe take. L.
Poor guy is getting destroyed in here
Critically their most acclaimed work in years.
They’re all over headlines.
Tons of press and media attention.
Josh is right, “album sales” is a totally different beast than it was even in 2016
Sales and marketing are different, it’s all different
American Idiot sold 267k first week. Those numbers are barely achievable by mainstream artists. Kendrick Lamar’s HEAVILY anticipated album in 2022 sold a little less than that I think.
Nah I'm not a poor guy and I'm not getting destroyed
Not a horrible take
it’s pretty atrocious
Just speaking reality
“this political pop punk band needs to stop being political!”
Well i never said they should being political
my bad. “This political pop punk band needs to stop protesting during their live performances!”
"I know nothing about this band"
eh. I'm a fan of the music. Idc about Billie's views tbh
I don't agree with everything he says
but I if the track sounds good. I listen
Pretty much
If you stop listening to something because you don't agree with the creator, then you're going to run out of things to listen to
That’s an incredible rare opinion these days I feel.
idk reminds me of the conservatives who listen to RATM tbh lol
i wouldn’t say that’s true
i mean if you’re a conservative maybe because i feel conservative music is pretty hard to come by unless you’re actively looking for it
yeah this is what i think of too
My issue with Billie these days is that he seems to be so extremely far left that anyone who’s either normally left or even kind in the middle on the political scale gets viewed as a right-winger lol
Also I can’t tell if he’s anti-america or not. The rants aren’t entirelyyyyyy consistent these days haha
I wonder how much shit he’ll talk when he comes to Aus. He always slags off USA at aussie concerts. 3/3 times for me anyway haha
billie is not extremely far left in any sense of the word
i’ll cut it off there
but uh
yeah that’s way off base
lol
who cares
Well not me. Im a fan of the music. Not the guy
I’m like the Adeline song I’ll tell ya what. Its grown on me!
im saying who cares if billie is far left politically he can say what he wants
Eh. Just feels alienating sometimes. 🤷🏻♂️
Doesn’t stop me being a fan of the music
No one knows what left means anymore ffs
billie isn’t even like far left he’s not saying he’s a communist he’s like a democratic socialist lol
probably not even that
actually definitely not that
obviously billie is pretty socially left, i can assume he’s not anti-capitalist though
Anything Billie Joe says is barely left of center at best besides social issues
yeah
he voted for biden right
i think he had supported bernie at some point
but i don’t remember
I don't even understand what there is to dislike about what he says, it's all incredibly vague anyway
yeah i was gonna say how are you feeling alienated by what green day says
that’s kinda sus in my opinion
"no war" "protect human rights"
Yep
You can criticise America without hating America
If you feel alienated by the stuff he says, look inward because damn. He's not very nuanced
Alienated because music man said let women and lgbt people and brown people live their lives
I still find it funny how the maga crowd is mad over the live show, what were they expecting
Grumpy snowflakes
if billie joe armstrong is “extremely far left” that must mean democratic socialists are off the political compass entirely
christ lol
He really says the tamest shit ever that is either 1. angry because fucked up stuff is happening or 2. expressing support for people who need it
Billie can think and say whatever he wants. That's why it's called an opinion. I don't see why it's a problem for some people. Boo hoo.
The person above was saying they don't have a problem with the music over it they just dislike him for saying it
I find disliking him for saying it pretty odd
also “middle of the political scale” is not a thing
just to add
everyone who claims to be a “centrist” is just a right winger that’s too afraid to admit it for some reason
not really related but that always rubs me the wrong way
I doubt anybody is TRULY a centrist. Residing around the middle is one thing, but being truly center is near impossible imo
Can't stand people who claim they're a centrist when it's damn clear they aren't
I wasn’t really a fan of the whole renouncing citizenship thing.
I’m not american. But just seemed a bit OTT lol. And empty
The renouncing citizenship thing was pretty dumb to say. I chalk it up to him being angry and saying something dumb off the cuff. Not really on par with his usual comments
Wrong thing to say while angry for the right reason
Its just those type of comments that make me go “oh”. Is probably a better way of articulating it than what I said earlier
lol
Yeah I see it as an impulsive thing, happens to the best of us
Gotta be careful when you have a platform I guess.
“This song isn’t anti American it’s anti war” is the usual Holiday intro after all
True. Its on the AaF album haha
plus it shouldn’t be controversial to denounce MAGA
like if that’s where it’s getting to
that’s pretty fucked
every rational person should be against that shit
Man I ain’t no conspiracy theorist but I reckon that was on purpose and probably paid for lmao
The articles
And shit
He says shit like that every single time they play live
Cos he has said worse on more public stages
Yeah
Manufactured Promotion for Saviors
The label probably hyped it up tbh
I don’t imagine billie being a sellout
Also:
#2 in Aus
None of the singles charted here tho
Really hope they keep this energy up for album 15
To break the cycle of good album, bad album, good album, bad album streak
True
Maybe in 2029 we’ll get a banger
started with 21cb really
Surprised to see so much 21CB hate lately
Followed by garbage two years later
21cb good, trilogy bad, revrad good, foam bad, saviors good
trilogy isn’t even that bad in my opinion but just to make the point
like in comparison it’s pretty bad
Trilogy is too much of a mess
Well its definitely not like they won't have stuff to work with for album 15 lmao, world is fucked still
Couple bangers hidden under a load of shitty overproduced songs
I wonder if billies voice will hold up another 5-6 years tho
That seems to be their schedule
2028 more likely, ever since 2000 they've been on a 4 year ish cycle, except for 21CB-Trilogy
trilogy (2012), revrad (2016), foam (2020), saviors (2024)
well yeah it did
but
in the more “modern” era
Maybe earlier though now that they have a better contract seemingly
Cos then we’d have 2020, 2024, 2029 surely haha.
Foam = 2020’s warning, Saviours = 2020’s AI
It did
😂
21CB was the outlier
But 21CB was also a massive album so it probably just needed more time to cook up
I read that Billie was superstitious about people stealing his shit and didnt reveal the lyrics to anyone including tre n mike for AGES
green day was one of the biggest acts in the mainstream after american idiot’s release, it would make sense if most of those 4/5 years in between albums were mostly touring
Also alot of pressure to follow up AI with a banger
not that i was old enough to remember the era after american idiot
but that’s what i would assume
Green Day were huge back then
Like huge
Absolutely everywhere
Especially Billie
Ofc
to be honest i always thought mike was cooler than billie
but tre was funnier than all of them
Kinda sad with all the 21CB hate lately
It's insane to see people talk about 21CB like it was some disappointment
masterpiece start to finish
That shit was so big
My top 5 is

It was everywhere
except 21 guns but other than that yk
nearly perfect
I love 21 guns idc if the other songs are better, 21 guns still bangs
Like regardless of whether you like it, it's so weird to see people who clearly either weren't paying attention or just weren't there talk about 21CB like it was a failure
I wasn't even really a rock fan at 6 years old but damn did I love 21 Guns
by the time i was actually able to start remembering what came on the radio i think green day had kinda fallen out of favor with the popular stations up here
i don’t remember hearing any green day on the radio
at any point
of course my mom didn’t listen to rock or alt stations
which is why
but yeah
GD had always been around in the background my entire life, but I truly became a hardcore fan back in 2015, and with RevRad coming out the following year it was a great time
Didn't find out Trilogy existed until after RevRad dropped though, never heard about it. I was confused on where that song in NFS came from and then it made sense
Stop When The Red Lights Flash being in a NFS game is so funny to me
vibes in here were great for saviors release though
I wasn't in the community in 2016 but I was definitely keeping track of RevRad during its cycle
i was the only green day fan i knew at the time father of all came out so i had no one else to talk about it with
I was painting my kitchen when FOA single dropped, completely out of nowhere
kinda fits i guess?
Yeah
Have a very similar story with GD that I have with Muse, they were always on in the background and became a big fan around the same time
i didn’t get into music until i was 13
before then i never went out of my way to listen to music
my mom wouldn’t play music in the house
she’s not really the type of person to get invested in particular artists
her music taste consists of whatever comes on the top 40 stations at any given time
not saying that’s a bad thing but because of that i never really heard more than a couple songs from artists
then when i was in eighth grade i got the music video for clint eastwood by gorillaz randomly recommended to me, was in a big “cartoon” phase at the time so i watched it because it looked cool and i was hooked
immediately went out and listened to all of their albums
then my music taste just kinda went out from there and i found green day in ninth grade
No dookie? Wow! Interesting
mine is probably
nimrod -> 21cb -> american idiot -> revrad -> insomniac
It's no 6 for me
Mine changes too much
As I’ve said a million times.
Awesome as fuck sums up my favourites
Lol
I do love dookie, but I don't have any nostalgia for it because I didn't even exist in the 90s. I get why people love it so much, but in my eyes I see it as a bit overrated. I have no special memories connecting me to it
And despite dookie being one of their most popular, I wasn't exposed to its hits anywhere near as much as I heard good riddance.
dookie sounds very “same-y” to me
i know insomniac is the same thing but i also like the direction they went in with insomniac more than with dookie
i can connect with insomniac’s songs a lot more
Warning and all the albums before it I wasn't even born lmao
Yeah they blend together a bit too much, at least with AI and 21CB having a clear theme, I can differentiate which songs are which. With dookie and insomniac the only ones that don't sound "same-y" are their biggest hits
To me at least
green day’s most popular songs sound like they were specifically written to be radio hits
in a way they sound inauthentic
to me
like boulevard of broken dreams doesn’t sound like green day at all in my opinion
now that we have Saviors TADIKM sounds like it's a clear standout and I can't seem to come back to it
Not saying it's a bad song but it's clear that they intended it to be the main single
They wrote it last
Yeah
No, that's actually stupid. So sick of this "Overton window" scapegoat that leftists have used to demonize everyone who doesn't agree with them
Wrong
If you call yourself a centrist you’re most likely center right / right on a lot of issues
There's just too many people claiming to be centrists when they aren't
i've never seen an example of a centrist that actually supports any stances held by the democratic party (or any other equivalent)
but they sure do seem to love the republicans (and similar parties in other countries)
"the far left and the far right are equally bad" is another statement that makes me wanna rip my hair out
hmm yes one side is actively calling for genocide of minorities and the other side wants everyone to have a good standard of living
i wonder which side is in the wrong here
universal healthcare? oh the humanity! we can't have that now can we
My god, this is actually unbearable
No I'm a leftist
Egalitarian, open to socialism, believes in free healthcare, education, taxing the 1% more, whatever
According to what exactly?
the best description of centrism i've seen is with queer people standing on one side of a field, nazis on the other, and a liberal in the middle going "wait guys why don't you COMPROMISE??" when the nazis obviously want to eradicate queer people without remorse
That's literal chronically online brainrot
that or the person in the middle being like "i think both sides are equally bad"
it makes no sense
that's what most people mean when they call themselves centrists 🤷
They are definitely not the same, but if there were a goal they did share, it's keeping people divided clearly
do you think anarchists support people being divided
or that communists hold that view
A centrist is someone who, for example, believes in LGBTQ rights but also guns or believe in the death penalty but are against the large incarceration of minorities
Personally I don't like either of the parties themselves, but when it comes to ideology itself I find myself to be more liberal, and only conservative with unimportant things (like wanting preservation of physical media over just streaming or dumb stuff like that)
This idea that centrists are "trying to compromise with activist groups and Nazis simultaneously" is insanely dull
The only reason people say shit like this is because they exist in a perpetual feedback chamber that teaches them that anyone who disagrees with them, even slightly, is some terrible fascist
clearly we're talking about different definitions of centrist
i think there was just a misunderstanding
i don't really care about this
like more or less this is fine
Likely yeah
Not sure if this should be in the Saviors discussion channel though tbh
but i know a lot of self-proclaimed "centrists" who think that the left and right are equally bad
which yk
not the case
you're right
i'm really bad at looking at what channel i'm in
I think Americans are more easily propagandized by Republican media because our politics are largely center right and bought out by lobbyists like Koch, Shell, the pricks on Wall Street, etc
but yeah my point was it's not really possible to be (quite literally) in the middle for a lot of things
if one side supports the death penalty and the other opposes it what's the middle stance
Most Muricans are grifters
also it's interesting looking at gun control in particular
because it's really only the moderate left that is in favor of strict gun control
or rather, wants to get rid of guns
and moderate left is being used in the loosest possible sense here
but you would be hard pressed to find an anarchist/communist that opposes gun ownership
Getting rid of guns won't work, did the "War On Drugs" pan out?
So I totally agree with that
yeah exactly
i know a lot of people like to broadly state that the left is opposed to gun ownership
but that's not true
so i think a lot of people have a very warped idea of what leftists actually stand for
which is by design
I think we have a very warped sense of politics
Y'all are gonna hate this but at least keep it Green Day adjacent with the politics talk in this channel
i was typing a message in #975445187998388376 but decided i didn't wanna keep talking anyway so
i'm done i think lol
sorry about that
I'm just glad there are still people who are willing to talk about these things without being at each others throats, that's rare to see these days. But yeah I agree. This ain't the channel for it lol.
I get how it happened since the conversation started out as green day related, just saying once it stops being green day related then it's not the place
Sorry about that
No apologies necessary
it just slips my mind as to what channel i'm in
idk why
i just gotta remember to move
It happens
Surprised the Making of Coma City video didnt start with them listening to the Static Age
I have listened to Fancy Sauce over 1000 times
Saviors is the first new album I’ve been obsessed with in decades, probably since Dookie. I can’t get the songs out of my head, I listen to it at least once a day.
I'm really happy to see so many people who like it, I wish I would feel the same. But I'm glad for everyone else
I feel that.
I think it’s alright but not in my top 5
saviors is very refreshing after father of all
but pitting it against the rest of green day's discography it just doesn't really stack up
i was a lot higher on the album at release than i am now
I don’t think it’s top 5 for me either
I love it don’t get me wrong
but it’s probably like
7th
lemme think here

probably something like this
insomniac that low is criminal
I love Insomniac but it’s about tied with Warning
nimrod
21cb
american idiot
revrad
insomniac
warning
kerplunk
dookie
saviors
uno
tre
39/smooth
dos
father of all
Take back that dos placement
I like dos but easily the worst of the trilogy

I'm gonna listen to Dos right now and think of you, Josh
mmmphpmmmphhhff
Excuse me

Saviors over 21st… bold pick
Indeed bold
It’s so over
Really? 21st over Dookie and Saviors? Kerplunk i guess i can live with. Nimrod is too low. Insomniac too low. W otherwise
i have 21cb above dookie and saviors in my list too
what about Nimrod?

nimrod is my #1 green day album
i have the little american idiot logo flair but that’s just because i think it’s better than the nimrod one
nimrod is my favorite album of all time though
fair enough
Imagine accidentally using
as a saviors emoji instead of
wrong Tre is worse
cool take, never seen this one before
Yes 21st century over dookie, saviors & Kerplunk and nimrod is lucky to get that high insomniac probably wont be any higher besides being above uno and thats it
I’m curious about how old y’all are & what album/age you discovered favorite idiots. I’m also born in ‘72 like them, Dookie was my intro at 22, which is why Saviors just hits the sweet spot for me. Mostly I prefer their work through AI, & just like stuff here & there until UDT (I like em better when they’re less serious). But FOA is definitely last for me too.
I’ve pretty much grown up with them and their lyrics have stayed consistently relevant and often hit home in a very timely manner (especially the more personal songs). I relate to almost every single song on Dookie, which is what sustained me during some of the shittiest years of my life. Then songs like X-Kid come along right when I’m start to feel the passage of time and how I used to be, like, more alive.
2009 when I went to go watch Transformers Revenge of the Fallen I was around 3 or 4 heading to the movies to get ready to watch it with my dad we got there I was so excited when we go into the movie and started watching their was scene that started playing 21 Guns and I fell in love with the song when I went home searched up transformers movie 2 songs and got 21 guns when 21st century breakdown was a brand new album I slowly started liking it but it would take me another 4 years when I turned 8 years old and in the car with my mom and Wake Me Up When September started to play at first I wasn’t all that interested since I was only 8 and didn’t care for slow songs now it’s my favorite Green Day song ever because I can relate with it on a whole deep feeling fast forward to 2023 summer heard Green Day was releasing a album so decided to re listen to some of their albums joined this server in December listened to their whole discography and that how I was introduced into the band so I’ve been a somewhat fan since 21st Century Breakdown
Gd does that make me feel old 😆. Kudos for your google-fu at the tender age of 4, I couldn’t even tie my shoelaces at that age.
I got introduced to Green Day through my mom's old Pandora account, and then their weird promo with Angry Birds Friends
My older brother covered Good Riddance a lot so that was probably the first song I heard from them, aside from maybe Basket Case and American Idiot??
Maybe not coincidentally, I had undiagnosed (until 2y ago) add & anxiety and I always wondered how come none of my other friends liked Basket Case as much. Like Billie I’ve had drinking issues too, until 8 years ago).
I even went through a ‘I drank so much I became a little plump’ phase like Billie right around age 30 as well.
I missed the Angry Birds promo, imma have to look it up.
It's a trip
I thought it was the coolest shit back when it first came out, but it's pretty laughable now
They also did something with Slash but I had no idea who he was at the time lol
Apparently, they did a crossover with Shakira?
Yeah I remember I searched it up on YouTube and wow is it a whole different site from when I searched up that song lmao making me feel old and only about to turn 19
I just found the angry birds trailer and I’m immediately curious about playing the game again 😆. I’m guessing their kids were into the game (all of mine were, plus me & my wife) so it was prolly a fun idea. And they prolly take the Rollins approach of saying ‘yes’ to opportunities.

I swear I remember the trailer having Troublemaker instead
Damn right below t swizzle
no
Booooooo Fuck Taylor Swift
boring take
She’s good wdym
She’s awful and annoying
yeah
She is extremely talented and successful
Fuck Taylor Swift, fuck Swifties, Green Day deserves to be number 1
I mean
I’m not gonna sit here and act like a rock band 20 years past their prime deserves number 1
you can dislike her but jesus you guys are acting like she killed your families
exactly
it’s not that serious
i was trying to find the way to say this, green day isn't extremely relevant to pop culture so i cant tell whether the hate is out of jealousy or not
there are valid reasons to dislike her but nobody is stating them lol
literally
I’m not gonna defend the swifties because yes they’re annoying and they suck
but it’s mainly just
“waaaaah pop star bad punk rock good 😡😡😡😡”
is there better pop music out there? YES! is Taylor the worst pop star out there? NO!
Some people say the same about Billie
But Billie says “IT’S GETTIN’ SERIOUS!!” 😉
She killed my dog terry I won’t forgive her
Every time I’ve heard her music it seems to almost be the same thing every time about heartbreak or relationships and stuff like that I know her audience is little girls and such but I can’t like her music cause it isn’t the right melody or rhythm I like and another thing it sounds stupid but I remember back in 2021 or 2022 I was reading that Damon Albarn said Taylor Swift Doesn’t write all her music herself that writing with another person is called co writing and it’s entirely different from writing your own material and Taylor swift took great offense to it which idk why but erk me like okay if you co write with someone than you didn’t write that song yourself but she wants to say she is a independent woman and can do it all on her own and takes credit as a solo writer which great for you but you sound like another entitled woman like independent woman rise up kinda BS and plus her fan base Swifties are mostly annoying girls who think she’s the holy grail of music and everyone has to respect her and if you don’t we cancel your entire life and you can just cry about it and think about what you thought was wrong and that just doesn’t give me a good impression about Taylor swift herself if most not all but most of her fans act like that
I like pop music and like punk I don’t like some pop and I don’t like some punk Taylor swift just happens to be one of the pop stars I just dislike
I can definitely see why I enjoy Billie only for his music and story’s he tells but sometimes wow does he need to chill with some things he says
Honestly Green Day fans are more annoying than Swifties
Swifties are mainly children.
Green Day fans are adults who act like children
On a stupidity level it’s probably equal tbh
I’m a Gorillaz fan I’m in the middle worst than Green Day fan but not as much as a swiftie
Lmao
Blur > Gorillaz 😈😂
I won’t disagree I love Blur so much as well they both have their own takes on music I Prefer Gorillaz but Blur is a legendary band Damon Albarn is just a Music legend wherever he takes his music same with Graham Coxon
it’s literally not this serious
chill out
Punctuation marks are marks indicating how a piece of written text should be read (silently or aloud) and, consequently, understood. The oldest known examples of punctuation marks were found in the Mesha Stele from the 9th century BC, consisting of points between the words and horizontal strokes between sections. The alphabet-based writing began...
That shit's impossible to read
Would that make us sweet children?
You said give some reasons I did now you say it ain’t serious lmao
Nah I’m good unless this is a English test grade I don’t care
just reminds me of when I was 15 and got angry at everyone who listened to rap and pop music because it wasn’t “real music” to me
now I realize it doesn’t matter and people can enjoy different things and we don’t have to hate on them for it
Offering as a way to make your messages readable rather than a wall of run on sentence
I don’t care what you listen to do what you like I just don’t like her music
I like running though
There's a fat joke somewhere in here
Lmao
I can’t even process what half of this is fucking saying
use punctuation or something bro holy shit
I’m also not going to accept “her music is the same thing everytime” as a valid argument when we’re all Green Day fans
they’ve released the same album like 8 times and we eat that shit up
Too bad
Can you take your Taylor swift hate somewhere else, zero point in filling this channel up with it. And don’t be a dick.
How am I being a dick lmao
Overall clogging this channel up with immature “fuck Taylor swift” run ons
It's one thing to not like her, her music, or her extreme obsessive and annoying fanbase, but that's some extreme hating right there. Why is anybody surprised she's #1
Well I’m sorry I will stop 👍
I was joking early when I said she’s fucking awful and annoying I don’t hate her that much but I do dislike her music since it isn’t a rhythm or melody I like my apologies either way I will stop and chill
Saviors at number 1 album sales rn
Josh just won the discord. Someone transfer ownership
😂
The fangirls thread on GDC is funny. Some ppl got warnings from the mods, because they were obsessing over Billie's ass
I think the people are in like their 30s probably who say that
But it's fine, watch king for a day, he is hot
Oof Saviors dropped to #87 on the billboard 200 for its second week. Oh well they've always struggled with however the fuck "album sales" are calculated now in the streaming era
Also I found out like 10k album sales were left out since they were from independent record stores. So the charts really don't matter at all for this one, that's crazy
Dilemma also still on the rise on the rock and alternative charts, #22 and #14 respectively. Up from being at #27 on both last week.
surprising that Dilemma rose on the charts despite Saviors dropped tremendously
also sucks that 10k album sales were left out, but I'd rather support local record shops than purchase from somewhere else so it "counts"
Charts are ultimately whatever, just fun to look at for me
I think it makes sense, album sales being people buying or listening to the entire thing, versus streaming songs and radio airplay
Probably not a huge number of people listening to the whole album on streaming regularly or however the fuck album sales are calculated now
Lots more people listening to the singles
Makes sense with how music promo works now, I think so at least
What?
That’s bullshit
Yeah it's weird, goes to show how dumb the music industry is
"Under the updated album equivalent ratios, 1,250 premium audio streams, 3,750 ad-supported streams, or 3,750 video streams are equal to one album unit."
So if you listen to songs from the album on streaming a total of 1,250 times without ads that's one album sale
Yeah no wonder they dropped to #87
By that logic if I hadn't bought the vinyl and CD, I wouldn't be counted as even one album sale despite listening to it like 150 times beginning to end
Well
150 would be enough but that was an exaggerated number
Real number is like 50 times just on streaming or something which wouldn't be an album sale according to Billboard
I understand it's not really meant to be on an individual person basis, but damn
Album sales is probably just an obsolete metric at this point
very few artists can pull in huge sales numbers now
i think midnights by taylor swift still sold about 3 million? so artists at that level can bring in sales like that
green day in 2024, not so much
the only artists that can pull 1m first week these days are Taylor and Adele
and maybe Drake
and maybe Eminem
I've heard that somewhere but i'm not sure what the source is because I read an article stating that as of 2024 there is more accurate independent record sales data. It used to be estimated but now they are using actual sales data from 95% of all independent stores
Hm
This is pretty vague about it https://m.hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=339248&title=GREEN-DAY-ROCKS-THE-RACKS-AT-INDIE-RETAIL
And that luminate change took effect December 29th
Honestly yeah sounds like they probably mostly were counted then yeah
Assuming that with the start of the year and it being a major change the indie stores actually reported it to them or something, I dunno how it works though
The 10k claim is probably based on assuming the old method and being unaware of the change
My guess is the Billboard thing said 95% of indie stores that sell 1000 records a week and HitsDailyDouble is saying there are smaller shops where sales aren't reported but those smaller shops also sell much less so I don't think the number would be huge
Yeah it's hard to imagine stores selling under 1,000 collectively adding up to that many
The HDD chart also isn't making clear if those charts are just sales from stores that don't report or a mix of all indie stores some of which report and some that are too small to count
I'm gonna chalk it up to bad vague journalism
Again not something I'm informed on at all but that feels like something that shouldn't be that hard to track in 2024
Like come on people don't speculate
Yeah the whole thing is a pain in the ass to track now, I try and source numbers for sales for the album sales page on the website but it's hard getting anything other than streaming numbers with any accuracy
Perhaps the opposite of what I said then, but maybe it will get better with luminate changing its data tracking
But bad journalism either way I'd say, since that billboard article you linked directly contradicts what the hits daily double article says
Nooooo
I’m doing my bestttt I haven’t even listened to songs other than Saviors since it dropped🥲
Maybe I need to buy more vinylvariants
Yep
I wana ask a noob question.
Do all members of Green day receive royalty for a particular song or is it only Billie?
they should all receive royalties
although Billie might receive a little extra if hes the only songwriter I think
I think Billie receives most of the share since he's the primary songwriter
Say 60% - 20 %- 20%
Most songs are credited as “Lyrics by Billie Joe Armstrong, all music composed by Green Day”
Unless they have some other arrangement we don’t really have a way of knowing about, I’d assume it’s divided equally on account of it being credited to the band
The standard for royalties is dividing it equally between credited writers. Unless otherwise noted, the credited songwriters are Billie Joe, Mike, and Tre
According to ASCAP they can have a different allocation to each writer rather than split equally, and I can’t find a totally verifiable source on it but everything points to them splitting credits/royalties equally which is what I’d expect
I guess Mike writes his parts
Tre has to have some writing input the same way
Maybe they sometimes figure out the structure of a song together or something
But Billie seems to write most of it
Like The Longshot, but if that had the other two, I think the bass and drums would have had more "personality"
Like mike's writing
Tre may have added a thing or two here and there
I would give credit to mike dirnt as think of something like Castaway and the bass riff
Gives the song more personality
Adds strenght
Billie definitely does most of the writing when it comes to lyrics, melody and chord changes and he's said so, but yeah I imagine they all come up with the actual parts they're playing. Either way all of them get officially credited as songwriter on pretty much every song besides a few exceptions
Makes sense
I think after all this time, I can confidently say my least favorites on the album are Saviors and One Eyed Bastard
the only songs I skip on the album are OEB, Saviors and also Father to a Son
Me too
i got big news for you
so real
I skip zero songs because I’m cool
Same
Billie's vocal effect in Saviors reminds me of 21stcbd and AI. and I kind of like it.
Goodnight Adeline has got be my least favourite one , I just can't get into it
I listen to father to a son till the 2nd chorus ,then I skip next
People really love mopey butt rock Green Day
I disagree the Saviors filter (and melody) reminds me of Rev Rad
This is unbelievably cute, but the song makes it feel like a tragic love story
Squirrel do be eating deez nuts
cuz i’m still breathing

Making my way to 10K slowly but surely. 6K more to go!
When is #Album15-Discussion
my exact thoughts
Why so many plays?
Why have you listened to a song a lot
why not
Yeah why not
Dilemma still rising on the charts, nice
love it
Yeah I'm sure you do
Why are y’all struggling so much to play one instrument? I can play bass, drums and guitar easily
I'd say im an intermediate guitarist
Is that like amazing or average for someone who's only been playing for like a year and a half?
I’m a pretty good guitarist
I can play basically whatever (just not shreddy metal solos)
And I can sortve play drums, I can hold my way through a jam sesh on them
I started learning guitar by playing Metallicas interludes
this place is dead
I started with playing green day songs with one string, then chords with sloppy playing and after that got better, I got guitar lessons and learnt techniques, so now I could be a metal rhythm guitarist pretty easily and maybe do some easier solos
I just gotta learn more songs
I've played for like 6 years
Album 15 discussion when?
Fuck it
Sometime never idk
Album 20 discussion
Album 25 discussion
Album 30 discussion
Funny that I've never actually considered the triology as 3 separate albums but as 1..
So Technically album 14 is number 12
and Mechanically it's a vinly
Deserves to be high and even bigger
Saviors
Album 15 when ?
Fr bro we've waited long enough where's the next album!1!!1!1!1!1!
Album 15 coming out 2027 or 2028
We’ve waited a month
2027 most likely
Album 15 is garage rock
Fans wouldn't like it
I want something new
Not garage rock, not classic GD
we already got garage rock
Something unexptected
That is why it would be funny
Everyother album has been that
Or pop rock
I’m pretty sure for ska they can get a horn section
Idk, but I think they can do something cool
Clearly they are still interested in doing cool shit
Not just a legacy act
An album that’s there like normal music but they have trombone loudly playing in the background would be good
That would be very GD already
Ok
Just because of King For A Day and Jackass
Maybe they make a streetlight manifesto style album
King for a day is cornet and trumpet
Like an album in the style of somewhere in the between that would be fucking perfect they need to do that
I expect another the network album tho possibly
And on jackass that’s alto and tenor sax
Have it be dookie the sequel
And name it piss
Maybe liquid dookie
Finally own it
Sequel to dookie
As angsty as the original
No grumpiness, just angsy
Angst
Yes but piss would be funnier since piss means pee and dookie is shit
Like literally
Not trying to say it sucks
Oh also Dilemma went up on the charts some more
Crazy how it's been slowly creeping up
Sitting at #8 on both rock and alternative
Wonder if it'll hit #1 slow burn
Idk man, blinks One more time is dominating whatever chart it's in and I don't see green day in that list.
Anyways , my guess for Green day's next Album would be another FOAMF as Billie did mentioned that he wants to do another album like it. But idk man because it's hard to believe Whatever Billie says
tbf blink-182 has a whole reunion to back up their album
I’m talking singles and One more time isn’t even in the rock airplay top 40 anymore, also dilemma is at #5 last week I misread. One more time is at #2 on alternative last week too while Dilemma went up to #7, the two songs have pretty much opposite momentum as far as airplay goes right now
For context, Billboard uses Mediabase for airplay data
Saviors is clearly better than One More Time cause GD was always better than Blink. No dissing to Blink but it's true
People always rag on Green Day now, I don't get it
Saviors is better than OMT imo but I’m not gonna discredit the quality of OMT
that album is great but Saviors just does it better
I agree ^
I think both their music is too different to say one is better than the other
Totally different vibe between omt and saviors
I mean you can look at charts to see which is more popular but it’s all a matter of just what you like better. They are both spectacular albums in their own way
yeah OMT is basically just “omg guys lookie we’re back together and better than ever 🥺🥺🥺here’s another anthem song!!”
and Green Day is basically “no guys wait I promise we’re still good here get a taste of this sick political song 🤬🤬🤬🤬”
Yea fr
Lol
Not in a bad way though on Green Day
when is it coming out?
When are you coming out
2028 maybe
Album 15 is gonna be a Drill album and is releasing 2025 as a celebration of Saviors success
a what album
a drill album
i have no clue what that means
drill is a type of rap music

example
oh
Instead of Billie it features Tre on the lead vocals.
And axl rose in the background
Yooo W Green Day. They deserve to be there obviously...just hoping ppl have finally come to their senses lol
shi theyd be number one rn too if Taylor hadnt completely exploded again
wow thats an old ah message 😭
Rock just isn’t as popular
ye i woulda figured
however, its is just as good. in fact better 😎
tbf its still big just nowhere near the whole 90s alt and grunge movement
rock got way too popular in the 90s
Yeah, it did, though the 2000's were a great decade for rock (especially 2004, and not just because of American Idiot).
I did it
That’s crazy 💀
Looks the same to me
Look at the face
I will Post this Text here too:
Will "Saviors“ be the First title Track That will Not be played on Tour? What do you think?
I mean FOA wasn’t really played regularly
I doubt Saviors will be a mainstay on the stadium tour setlist, but I also doubt they'll never play it
I can see them never playing it tbh
I could see them not playing something like Suzie Chapstick live but never ever playing the title track is crazy, they use the lyrics in promo stuff even
Green Day rarely makes rational setlist decisions
this is the same band that chose to play a KISS cover every night of tour instead of one of their own songs
and honestly Suzie Chapstick could work as an acoustic encore thing that Billie likes to do
Like I said I don't think they'll do it on the main tour, I think they'll do it for a smaller show
Like this house of blues show tomorrow, that sort of thing
here’s my official predictions of saviors songs being played live
TADIKM - staple
Brains - staple
Bobby Sox - played occasionally
Dilemma - staple
OEB - played occasionally
1981 - staple for this tour then ignored
Goodnight Adeline - never played
Coma City - small shows only
Suzie Chapstick - never played but maybe acoustically?
Strange Days - small shows only
Living in the 20s - never played
Father to a Son - never played
Saviors - never played
Fancy Sauce - never played
Hmmm
If they weren't saying "calling all saviors" every time they announce something I'd agree with all of that except maybe swapping bobby sox and look ma no brains. Honestly I figure if any songs are staples it's the singles, and 1981 since they'd already done that one a few times now
But also mixing my own hopes in there because I really want all the bada bings and "do you wanna be my boyfriend" I can get
I can see Bobby Sox staying too. I’m leaning towards occasionally since it seems like a song that’s vocally taxing
1981 could stay too. I’m just assuming based on the band’s past setlist activities
I can totally see 1981 staying and Brains being ignored
Do you think strange days will be played? I think it would work Great live
I'm with josh on that one, probably for club shows but not bigger ones
@ornate zenith I was wrong!
This fucking awesome though
I never would have expected it
Wasn't gonna watch a shitty phone stream before but now I am
I was probably gonna watch one but now I’m making it a point to watch one
please don’t butcher Suzie Chapstick my beloved
I like how our entire conversation is invalidated by this
they butchered her
after last night’s show here’s my updated Saviors Tour Setlist prediction:
Dookie (in full)
Saviors
TADIKM
Look Ma, No Brains!
One Eyed Bastard
Dilemma
Brain Stew
Bang Bang
Hitchin a Ride
Minority
American Idiot (in full)
Good Riddance
there’s probably knowledge somewhere in there if they still do the guitar thing
Playing Saviors first instead of in its place in the track listing definitely leads me to believe they plan on playing that one more
Agreed. It also supports this theory I saw that Saviors was supposed to be the original opening track
Only early track listing I saw had Dilemma as the opener
I want them to play Blood, Sex & Booze
It’s not happening bro
have they done what
played BSB?
Last time they played it was 2009 yeah?
DNA Lounge?
someone fact check me
other than that they haven’t played it since the warning era
fine I’ll fact check myself
I’m correct
the other 2009 performances were just acoustic before Good Riddance but the only full band performance was the DNA Lounge
in conclusion, no they won’t play it on tour
this also makes sense
Yeah that's why I asked you buddy
When's the last time they played Westbound Sign
i don’t think they ever played it if I’m being honest
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME
Will they play it for the Saviors tour
less than 0% chance
if they bust out Westbound Sign at any point on the Saviors tour I’ll post a picture of my ass
If they play Westbound Sign on the Saviors tour, I'll jack off on my vinyl copy of Insomniac and post a pic here
absolute W for westbound sign fan
they’ve NEVER played westbound sign?
That’s surprising
Well
It was soundchecked in New York 1994
Considering how much fan service has been done so far lately I wouldn't be too surprised if they did play it

guitar is off a lil
Dilemma would've been one of the best Green Day album openers if they went with that
this is out dated
get on it setlist boy
i already sent me updates prediction
cmon man
Couldn't be more wrong, embarassing
I guess technically you could have “never played” replaced by “only played once” and I’d still be correct
but I’m more confident in my latest setlist prediction
Friendly reminder, Fever sucks
yikes bro…get with the program..

I'm predicting Fuck Time 10 times in a row
im surprised they've played fuck time at all
Dilemma still making its slow burn chart climb, is #4 on rock and alternative airplay now. Up from 5.
#1 would be sick
^^
Hot take
Actually i think it would be lame
it's a good song but it really doesn't need #1
no it doesn’t need it but it’d be cool
its like some of my favorite green day songs like oh love and st jimmy, I literally love those songs so much but they wouldn't do good at #1
honestly yea
Not sure what not doing well at #1 means because charting high means it's popular, but Oh Love is one of their most successful singles ever and topped hot rock and alternative for almost two months, along with reaching the hot 100
it’s really crazy how well Oh Love did commercially considering it’s widely forgotten these days
Yeah people forget that right up to iheart/rehab they were still on top of the world, oh love probably would have charted higher too
Charting does not determine how good a song is
It’s just popularity
I’ve got 10 grand of my mom’s money down on dilemma charting on the billboard hot 100 by may
that would be fucking insane to hit the Hot 100
even crazier since it’s happening way after the single dropped
Dilemma hit #1
im all in
It’s #2 on mainstream rock
LETS GOOOOOOO
Suzie chapstick didn't chart? I know it's not a single but i should've chart
No…I wouldn’t have expected it to lmao
Do people know what charts are
A non-single isn’t gonna chart. Sometimes singles don’t even chart because they might not get enough airplay
why on earth would Suzie Chapstick chart? 😭
the only time non-singles chart is when a massive artist drops an album (Taylor Swift, Drake, The Weeknd, etc)
Ermmm, what do you mean massive artist? Green Day is a massive artist and way better than that Taylor Swift and Drake! 🤓
I mean technically yes and no, obviously massive but not “new album charting the entire hot 100” massive
just current mainstream shit
Yeah ik i was being sarcastic
Green Day is mainstream rock, and still about as big as it gets for mainstram rock these days. Hence why a single released in December tops the rock charts in April. But that's as far as mainstream rock goes these days
Also the two main singles so far from the album both being chart toppers is pretty big, almost revrad level. Interested to see how it gets when the tour is ongoing because there's gonna be plenty of publicity and promo with that I'm sure
I unironically agree with this tbh
Cold take alert
hot take alert
how are you talking while muted what
@ornate zenith bro how is that possible
Yeah I noticed
You're not supposed to have access to any channel while muted, please don't use this channel for this topic
You can ask in #create-ticket
Bypassed the system lmao
Wrong channel nick
Sorry my bad
@restive widget this server isn’t for selling stuff
skill issue
Nothing officially as far as I'm aware
Damn
Could even just be something didn't end up using
Is it weird that when LMNB came out as a single i listened to it like non stop now it's the song i listen to the least compared to every other songs from the album?
No
Has it ever been confirmed what that song is about?
about him tell his mom he got no brain
Well duh
I thought it might've been about if he had stuck in that pessimistic, couch bound attitude he had on albums like Dookie to the point where it drove him insane but he doesn't care because he's "special" and "doesn't need help"
Can someone PLEASE convince my brother that Saviors isn't the best album? His list is messed up.
So far its

Yeah he's wrong 21cb should be higher than insomniac
and maybe dookie is a bit low
honestly i can see how saviors might be someone's favorite
Saviors is like the 5th best album not 1st smh
Same w/ me
dos tre 1039 and nimrod really said goodbye
Well, in the end of the day It’s his opinion
Fr he can like wtf he likes
i noticed a few days ago that the album sounds pretty overproduced tbh
How's that? I think the mixing is superb, great EQing great leveling nothing feels harsh or jarring but the instrumentation is generally pretty sparse outside a few songs I'd say. Vocals guitar bass drums. Seems like everyone means something different when they say overproduced though, curiosu what you're thinking. When I think overproduced I think like FOAM with the vocal filters and stuff.
Like, i'd say Saviors sounds kinda "cloudy" and not as dry as Dookie to RevRad (especially Insomniac)
It's kinda like Help by the Beatles
Hey guys, now that Saviors is out, what do you think the next album (most likely coming out in 2028) is gonna be called?
Saviors 2
It’s gonna be piss the prequel to dookie than Pee Pee Poo Poo the Sequel to Dookie
Dls the sequel to kerplunk
That sounds like a legit album name tbh
Green Day
He hasn't listened to them yet
Dumb album fucking sucks
Hot take but ok
Yes, they're finally gonna do a self-titled album
I thought saviors was gonna be self titled tbh
wdym
Not as good as 39/smooth
lmao
green day - an album by green day
Its not far fetched
