#Saviors Discussion

which... i mean i like the new single but i dunno if it has comeback power
guess we'll see how the album fares when its actually out lol
For this album to pop off, it would have to be immaculate on top of hitting this 2000’s resurgence at just the right time
lol we aren't anywhere near peak 2000s resurgence imo
i'd say we're in that 90s wave still
i mean it's called the thirty year rule for a reason
Well fashion wise there has been a prominent rise in 2000s
yeah, scene revival is starting to pick up a bit
Idk about music though
There has been an uptick in pop punk but I doubt it’ll stick around
i feel like we're not really going to see much musical revival beyond the 80s tbh
like, we'll see some but with music becoming so splintered with the internet i dunno if we're gonna see that kinda magic again
Yeah I doubt it
but i'm perfectly happy to get my little green day albums every few years and enjoy them (or not) with smaller communities
I still think this album will do better than previous ones
It’ll probably do better than RevRad imo
in my opinion no for now
its not bad but the song overall didnt even reach revrad level
the song grew on me but
the fact that it needed to grow on me i think kinda says it all in terms of larger impact
idk, a lot of people seem to like it which is good but the people i'm seeing like it are all green day fans already
i dont see people hype for it outside this server
yeah, i've gone looking for reactions and they're all from green day fans
Gonna have to see if it’s on the billboard rock charts this week
i mean, i imagine it would be somewhere on that list
can't be that much competition
i predict top 10
there's the new blink album which seems like it's got more buzz?
did that drop outright? idk lol
blink is more popular at least in here
Blink is more popular in the green day server?

What do you meannn
I mean the marketing for this single is good but it’s just not reaching a huge audience
And I don't think the 2nd single will fare too well either.
Mainly because I think that only old school fans will like that song
don't really care about the success too much just glad that it's good music
Why did I get this last night
So late to get it damn
If I saw earlier I probably would’ve bought it
I don't care about chart performance, although part of me want the songs to perform well.
As long as the music is good for me.. Tbh I don't really like American dream that much, apart from the lyrics.
Fortunately No brains seems like a banger
Imagine if each and everyone of us that signed up got something.
They aren't recovering financially
I'm an old school guy and Look Ma No Brains sounds way too simplistic to be a single to me. I prefer their more "arena rock" songs
Look ma no brains probably won't get the same promo as the TADIKM since they're releasing it the very next week after the lead single
I like short and fast punk bops ala Ramones but I think Green Day really shines with the more pretentious opera rock stuff
What’s the new photo of?
i think look ma no brains will be just a promo single
like fire ready aim
revolution radio was relesead before the album and got a video just in 2017
these days you have to just put one song after another to get people interested
i am so ready to listen to the official version
Looby mooby nooby booby
I think it might be another rock opera
Saviors might probably be the rock arena type we're looking for.
The other song are just classic green day titles.. probably 1-2 mint mark
I miss the articles describing songs and Interviewing the band
Does anyone know the reason why they chose the name saviors
"pretentious opera rock stuff"
lol
I don't mean it as an insult. I like it.
yeah I know what you meant
the words you chose are just funny
idk how but they just are
What is you guys opinion on '1981' and 'One Eyed Bastard' ? I like 1981, it seems repetitive but the instrumentals could be amazing in the studio version. As for OEB, it sounds very much like a Father of All song, I imagine the final result will be very different from the 2020 leak we have. I just hope they reworked the chorus lol
I have a feeling that this album will be just average at best.. atleast better than FOAMF but not better than the others
I think it’ll probably be better than RevRad
Looks like TADIKM has debuted at #5 on mainstream rock airplay
Baller
What were #1 to 4?
Let's see how LMNB will do
Btw I find it strange that they haven't done any album interviews yet.. i wonder what's up with that
The album is out in two months and it looks like they haven't done anything apart from playing shows
Probably waiting til mid November to start
But definitely odd
They better have a great third single
Is that mfer lifting
Gotta be on the grind
He hates it 😭
Bruh ofc he wasn’t gonna like it
Like i get that the lyric is weird but it’s ONE line in the song
Also I’m still not sure what it means 💀
It’s not even weird… he’s using it to express how sick and grotesque the chase is for the American dream, when it doesn’t exist.
Yeah like I didn’t interpret it in a weird way either
It makes sense for Billie to write that
Yea, he has his own weird tastes… which he is most certainly entitled to.
He is really good explaining why he does or doesn’t like an album, and that pisses people off haha
Yeah we don’t do that
@jolly zealot no no on the fantano self death bit
Please thanks
Sorry man, I may have went a Lil too far
What's the fantano self death bit
No need to repeat it
DM it to me then, I'm curious
What's fantano tho
HOHOLERO
what
🫵 🤓
Tf u guys talking about? What is a fantano?
not gonna watch fantano reviews
hes always wrong
Is the new song out yet?
Nope
Presuming it’s a midnight release it’s not for 12 more hours
And it could be considering this one has less buildup around it
The song's dropping the same time TADIKM dropped last week faik
Ah oh well I guess I’ll have to wake up and get the song
LMAO HE'S BRUTAL
yeah as much as I love fantano's vids he just doesn't understand pop punk
I don't think I've ever heard him say a positive thing about it
He was lifting weights on stream, I think it's reasonable to assume he leapt on the chance to meme a little on that line
The last thing we need is Green Day getting Michael Jackson'd
That had nothing to do with lyrics, that was because Michael Jackson "befriedned" a kid and then the kid told police he had molested him
It was the last song they recorded wasn't it?
The only song we've heard that they've been working on for 3-4 years is one eyed bastard and we don't know what that sounds like now either
Yeah
I think the album will be pretty good
At the very least it will be a good album critically
Idk about commercially
From the one song I have heard to base my opinion on, I also think it will be good
nobody legitimately thinks Green Day are pdfs
hey I got the nuclear family role
You never know with all the crazy shit going on in America these days
?
?
I mean yeah maybe idiots will think they’re pdfs but any sensible person knows it’s just another poopy Green Day lyric
Is it out
No it's not out, it's not even the 2nd
He doesnt even think the song is that bad i just think its funny he treated some of the lyrics on that song like Eminem wrote them or sumth
Fantano: "wow this new green day song is actually pretty good i sure hope there wont be a lyric that will completely ruin my enjoyment of this song"
The "we're pedophiles" line:
the line does completely ruin the song for me
yeah what does it mean anyway? my best assumption is that its supposed to call out all the celebrities who've sexually groomed children over the years and are already getting called out for it
it's supposed to be like... wanting something that's wrong... like the implication is the 'american dream' is actually this whole perverted thing
but comparing anythign like that to pedophilia is.... really missing the mark
as a victim of it, i reallllly don't like hearing it in a song
THEY LITERALLY COULDVE JUST SAID "WE'RE VERY HORNY FOR"
idk it's just a weird line at all
VE/RY/HOR/NY
ITS THE SAME SYLLABLE COUNT AS PEDOPHILES
like if you're trying to make the act of chasing the american dream sound like a dirty / very badthing, there's other ways to do it
im guessing its supposed to be a jab at cancel culture but idk man
Eminem ass lyric
MGK ass lyric
NO FUCK THAT
THIS IS A DRAKE ASS LYRIC
HE WOULD LITERALLY WRITE A BAR LIKE THIS
it's.. really bad. this song is like if FOAM Era Billie tried to write like RevRad era Billie.
It's almost good! but God he had to make it weird.
Yeah true
yeah, it has a bit to do with why i stopped listening originally around that time
it just feels sometimes like he's trying a little too hard
like he thinks it's provocative and punk and it's just... idk man you're someone's dad now grow up
there is a lot of good, but you have to work harder to find it now
it puts it in this weird uncanny valley area
where it just comes off as cringe now
OMG
ITS OUT
THE SONG IS OUT
It sounds nothing like what we heard in the leaks. also damn Green Day changed their sound fast
my head is breaking over the ridiculous reception to the PDF file lyric....first off not even the first time he has dropped it in a song....he has also used the N word in a song.... like for fuck sake...its green day... its just a lyric (a relatively clever lyric to tbh) albeit seemingly silly to think this current gen wouldnt go stupid over it...if this song came out 10 years ago not one of yall would have even mentioned it. The song fucking rips, its an absolute bast, look mah no brains sounds even better.. can we all just enjoy a new album drop without all the unnecassary bs?
People got opinions it's fine
i 100% agree, it just seems no matter what these guys do everyone finds a way to turn it negative, they litereally try make this music for us...the LEAST we could do is be a little more optimistic about it
I assure you plenty of people are positive about the song and the band lately, just some folks sharing their thoughts
People in here aren't really being excessive or hating or anything
idk man i remember distinctly negative opinions like my own here when he said the n word
i don't think this is a new thing at all
That’s what I’m saying, it’s just people discussing the song and sharing their thoughts, not a bunch of haters or something so we don’t need to chastise people about not being positive enough
I really don’t think the line is even that bad
I feel like there are people that’re overreacting and acting like it’s the worst thing in the world.
not for me it isn't
Copy that
prob will be out at like 9-10 am
I'll come back in an hour and ask the same
It’s not gonna be out at 1 am
If it’s not out at midnight it’ll be in like 9 hours
Still makes me wonder how he got away saying the N word..
Maybe the song wasn't popular enough?
Yeah that's basically what I mean
Just 4 years apart, and yet...
oof
technically billie has been a dad since when? insomniac era?
ik it's nitpicky but still
i don’t think the line is that big of a deal. sure it’s weird to read it at first but it makes sense when u understand what he’s saying
yeah lol Joey was born in 95, so basically 85% of their catalog is from when he was a father
It’s saying the american dream is childish/naïve, you can connect the dots
WHY IS THE SONG NOT OUT
No
Don't
Look Ma, No Brains
more like
Look Ma, No Song!
Get it cuz the song isnt fucking out yet
ITS NOT OUT
Look ma no brains refers to the people asking if the song is out yet
i get it. i don’t need anyone explaining it. but i still don’t like it.
Couldn't you just check for yourself? Lol
It takes just as much effort to go on Spotify or whatever you listen to music on
I have the song, I just want tickets
So
If you ask again I'm gonna beat the shit out of you
i was just gonna say
are they getting some kind of sadistic enjoyment out of asking
because it takes all of two seconds to look on streaming and see that it’s not there
AlienVisitor is upset it wasn't called October Penis and is taking it out on us
@eager swan it's out
There you go
See that was easy
First impression is that this song fucks
why cant you guys just look it up instead of asking a million times 🤦♂️
To be annoying
Manchester😍😍😍
Bit sad I’ll miss the interruptors but I’m not risking seeing them in London after the shit organization of the hella mega tour
Wtf aint no way hotels are already booked out
Yeah but the point is
you're right, there is no way
Is it out yet?
bc they probably aren't allowing reservations yet
must be a busy weekend
You can find rooms on sunday and thursday
hooooo boy new single
Maybe bc it’s closest to the stadium ig
i think i might like this even better than american dream
This song is awesome
I love how this is the closest GD has been to emulating their 90s stuff in like
an eternity
I like that the drums are going CRAZY like they haven't in so long
It sounds like sumth that couldve been on Insomniac or Nimrod
i feel like this is exactly what green day fans have been asking for for years now basically
like honest to god this is the most bite GD's had in a single since Bang Bang
an updated version of their 90s sound but actually good
They cooked
it's got a bit of a different sound compared to the 90s stuff but it's still good
Yeah its very Uno-esque
FRRRR
after tadikm i was cautiously optimistic but now i'm just straight up interested in this album
like this song sounds like it wouldve been on Uno if it came out in the 90s
they might have something good on their hands here
fucking banger
i've really missed the sheer SPEED of tracks like this
takes me back
just fuckin RIPS
The music video is so good too. It legit feels like sumth straight outta Insomniac
i've been loving these music videos honestly
Booked my hotel 😈
the songs are good but the music videos are fucking standout
TADIKM's music video would fit pretty well on RevRad i'd say
i like the black and white film vibe they're going for so far
like considering how Saviors is supposed to "celebrate 30 years of Green Day" im gonna assume this album is gonna be a hybrid/culmination of all the sounds from the band's past works
TADIKM is very AI/21CB
yeah
LMNB is very 90s
and rumors say OEB is FOAMF-ish
and im gonna assume Father to a Son is a ballad a la September or 21 Guns
1981 probably from sumth like Kerplunk
I honestly don't see it, it reminded me of East Jesus Knowhere
wasnt OEB a FOAMF outtake tho
I think I heard something recently that it was recorded after the foamf sessions
Not sure tho
was recorded with butch walker though right?
i would be very surprised if it wasn't
judging by how it sounds
Yes
Wouldn't surprise me if the saviors version is totally rerecorded
same, that's my hope
Right so Florida got properly fucked over, so much for seeing them on tour
Stadium tour, hopefully they announce another leg
Usually they announce other legs of the tour later
im on the east coast while theyre in the west coast. and im on the west coast while theyre on the east coast
i hate college
Fingers crossed. It's funny because I can't remember the last time Rancid was in Florida ngl
my dog watching me air drum to look ma no brains like "tf is wrong with you"
your dog is just jealous
Btw how cool is it that green day share a release date with the beatles' last song
that's what i'm saying
The hives are amazing it sucks
Am I the only one on here that is kind of just neutral on Look Ma? It's fine. I just feel like it's something Billie could have written in 20 minutes.
I think you are the only one
for me, it's:
TADIKM > OEB > Look Ma > 1981
Is OEB even conf for Saviors
yes
Yup
I'm also confused by some of the comments on OEB. Like that it sounds like FOAMF. To me, the production sounded wayyy better than FOAMF. Even if it was just a demo. So much that I thought I had heard a different version than others.
LMNB is so good.. like I'm so happy about it
However it might just be me.. but I think the mixing is terrible in the song
Yeah I agree
I’m excited for the official version but I hope they change it at least a little
Reminds me of Under You by Foo Fighters
love the throwback sound but GAHHH the mixing
What is it with new rock albums and their shit mixing? First Foo Fighters then blink and now these guys
tbh i sort of thought the same
I think LMNB is the best song in years
Was not expecting a music video for no brains, but hey, that's cool!
Yea
Since presale doesn’t go on for a few days are the tickets for sale online fake?
yes
Idk Bang Bang is still a banger
Nah RevRad title track was better
Rev Rad is mid
it's alright
Damn
Its fine
It’s a banger
Not spectaculsr
somewhere now is good
Reminds me of basket case and geek stink breath
Anyone think we’ll get a live album fro this tour?
Maybe bc it says celebrating 30 years of dookie and 20 of AI
Maybe
Man LMNB is so good I kept it on repeat and went to sleep.
TADIKM is a fine song but this one takes the cake
I would love to have been there
holy fuck
the mixing on LMNB
THE MIXING
its just
😙👌
mwahhhh
i was wondering on first listen why it sounded so rough
and then after like a million listens i grew to love the mixing even more, it sounds so much rougher compared to the new blink182 and foo fighters
ok yknow what
I think this might be one of the best singles of the year. Hands down
Green Day did it. Those sons of bitches did it
Between this, Under You and Dance With Me i'd say it feels good to hear my fav bands make bangers again
no one was looking, I was thinking of you
Yeah
It's so good
That i already lost NNN
I nutted 100 times listening to the song
Kerrang Radio won’t stop talking about the Saviors tour but they only played Know Your Enemy, like cmon just play LMNB dont be a pussy
They’re scared
it’s joever
No 9 minute rock opera 😦
billie said in an article recently he doesnt like writing long songs anymore or something
on the bright side though it's longer than FOAM
Pls change the badabing badabing badaboum chorus
What did yall expect? 15 tracks fitting on a single vinyl record had to be filled with short songs
i'm scared LOL
Maybe in 25 years from now, we'll get a deluxe edition with fancy sauce packets
i'm wondering the same thing, like it's such an odd title for the longest song on the album
i was totally expecting it to be a joke song by tre or something and it would have been like 1:30
Is there going to be a green day meet and greet?
Is this the confirmed song lengths?

billie needs to go back on his long song statement
brother there has been shit happening for the 3 years between this and foam
Honestly the song lengths aren’t that short
Got a few in the late 3 mins
And fancy sauce is over 4
But like anything 2:30 and above is really not bad
Literally insomniac has like all 2-3 min songs and that album is amazing so I’m not concerned with that
Look Ma, No Brains! in the style of Insomniac!
Original Pitch: https://youtu.be/tJkjMyEwVbY
Google Drive link to the song: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Xiz4lftWnVIhbhOw-q_gjsDjnWxO0qv3/view?usp=drive_link
Google Drive link to the folder with all the mixes: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1qIZDXla9XX9qqwK7WH4qacgCRe5FzsXk?usp=sharin...
Alright this makes me like the song more lol
if billie maintained his voice from the 90s the post AI songs and albums would have been soo different
maybe the trilogy would have been way better
in american idiot his voice some of the 90s vibe and way of singing
but with 21stcb his voice changed a bit and sounds abit higher
Well I mean if you presume a zombie theme then Fancy Sauce could be another term for blood
i guess? but it's still an odd term for blood too
True
But I think with song titles like Dilemma, Coma City, and Strange Days Are Here to Stay, it could all be taken from a zombie angle
But coudl be no zombie theme too
I really fascinated by Fancy Sauce at the beginning and after they revealed the timer, I think it's gonna be my fav now
OKAY i posted m LMNB thingie to insta because I saw Billie reposting art
So I was like he’ll finally notice me maybe
He didn’t BUT FUCKING MIKE DIRNT?!! LIKED IT!!!! LIKE WHAT THATS CRAZY
The One Eyed Bastard leak sounds so much like a Father of All song. I hope that Rob Cavallo and Chris Lord-Alge tweaked the production to make it more agressive and punk-ier.
Since it's from 2020, it would be strange that it remained unchanged for 3 years.
As for 1981 it's growing on me a lot. It's kinda repetitive but it's nice riff and short format makes up for it. I think the studio version will kick ass.
I have high hopes for Saviours (yes i spelled it with a U because Canada), musically and lyrically
I don't like those weird nonsensical war-related lyrics the boys put in since i'd say
, prolly earlier down the line but that's where Green Day started going downhill for me
OMG WOW
Is it just me or does the guy in the lmnb music video resemble young billie a bit?
i see rowan atkinson
I see Billie
That's awesome! Mike fucking Dirnt has seen your artwork
I’m still not over this
haha, enjoy it
RIP Jesus of Suburbia
That's a lot of nutting for 2 minutes
watched a recording of it, sounds pretty good
and if there’s a third single it’s 100% going to be 1981
not gonna say anything else on OEB because i don’t know if it’ll sound different on the album
but now that i’ve heard 3 songs i can say i’m excited for this album for sure if the rest of it sounds similar
Where’d you see it? I can’t find it
Tré is killing it!
I still find it very frustration that half of the new green day songs have these repetitive choruses
Almost like billie is too lazy to write something better
Whenever there’s a “she” mentioned in a GD song I always secretly try to become that “she”😂
I’m actually fighting to listen to this… don’t want to spoil all the songs before the album releases
Yay he doesn’t have dementia!
Only when it comes to Longview😂
Speaking of 1981, anyone has any guesses why she’s banging her head like it’s 1981?
What is it referencing, why that year
UGH IM SO PISSED IM NOT HERE FOR THE LONDON CLUB SHOW FUCK
Bxsmsnfnans
I dont even know where they’ll tour next but I wished they’d do one show a week
Never gonna forgive myself for missing this opportunity 🥲
1981 looks promising
not top tier but its not sound like a song that try to regain fans trust like the first two singles
Okay. Setlist talk. If you could control Green Day’s setlist for the tour, what’s going on yours? And in what order
I think this fits more in the general green day discussion channel, but here you go:
Say Goodbye
Bang Bang
East Jesus Nowhere
Look ma, no brains
Roshambo
Peacemaker
Having a blast
Cigarettes and Valentines
Kill the dj
Holy Toledo!
Desensitized
St Jimmy
Are we the waiting
Letterbomb
Outlaws
Still breathing
Going to Pasalacqua
Encore: All by myself
Dominated Love Slave
Well it’s for Saviors lmao
So it’s be AI/Dookie/Saviors mostly
Anyway here’s mine in this exact order
Whoops I didn't read that "for the tour"
Not bad but I'd love for them to play more deep cuts live
Do we even have deep cuts from AI/Dookie
For AI…maybe ‘Give Me Novacaine’? You could argue there isn’t a deep cut though
I just hope they play a large amount of new material on the tour…
I listened to Mike’s interview that got posted here… anyone else pretty stoked after listening to him talk about the album? He seemed very very excited for it
I think the trend’s lately that bands will play a range of older songs and their newest material, so that’s a good bet
Thinks back to FOAM era 😂😂
Can you post a link here?
I wanna watch it lol
that’s interesting because he still uses a paper setlist too
a dookie/AI heavy setlist will be like this
american idiot
holiday
bang bang
the american dream is killing me
castaway
burnout
2000 light years away
longview
welcome to paradise
the judges daughter
no pride
1981
letterbomb
give me novacaine
look ma no brains
boulevard of broken dreams
jesus of suburbia
basket case
she
coming clean
f.o.d
Encore
the grouch
stop when the red lights flash
take the money and crawl
american eulogy
with at least a song from every other album
in case of trilogy i pick just 1 though because its already a long list
Green Day playing stop when the red lights flash for an encore
the alternatives for trilogy are either nuclear family or wow thats loud
and also 99 revolutions i completely forgot this song when im making this list
oh x kid
dirty rotten bastards is 50/50 for me
absolutely, I listened to it on spotify... https://open.spotify.com/episode/23SHzcz68BsoCwGrpnm7df?si=ff9a377fe73f49e5

Amy works as either encore opener or closer
Since these are obviously fantasy setlists and not actual hopes for the saviors tour I think this discussion belongs in #greenday-chat
The setlist thing not the mike interview thing
I think my neighbour complained on me today as I was playing LMNB too loud.. couldn't hear what they said so i just kept playing
Look ma, no October penis!
Yea they're talking to him the entire time
Was really interesting actually
making a smoothie?
Thanks!
No problem!
We’re people gonna be mad if it was for lyrics?
Shit if I were him I’d put lyrics on a teleprompter even if I didn’t think I needed it. Just in case
That’s so many songs to remember the words for
With all the moving around he does he’s obviously not just reading off a script anyway
Yeah I think it’ll be 99 Revs or Oh Love realistically
This is only the third time they’ve played it since 2013
And it was their most recent single to be in the billboard hot 100
So I can understand why they’d be playing it again
I think it’s cool that they kept the two fan requests that they fucked up at the Metro show for the current run of club shows; Warning and Oh Love
does anyone know what three teasers were from lmnb? I know just that the fourth one is in there
because i heard someone say that there are three teasers related to lmnb
here are the teasers
there is people who going "huhhh u cant even remember your own songs u sucks"
they assumed reading lyrics while playing music live is like just singing at karaoke
Thank you 🙏
These vocals aren't included in the final song though right? A bit sad, because i was really looking forward to hearing this
I liked the more surf vibes that the first teaser had
Interesting that you can hear the echo of “suicide” on that one (or I guess it could be any word where the last syllable ends in “cide”
Odd they’ve made two references to suicide and two references to slamdance
I’d say given some of the aesthetic theming, the fact “1981” is in the back of TADIKM music video, lyrical repetitions, and the musical similarity between the outro of 1981 and the bridge of LMNB, there’s definitely a chance this could be a rock opera
Doesn't necessarily mean a rock opera, could be shared themes between the songs but that would arguably just be a concept album, rock operas have a story
I wouldn't call revrad a concept album anyway, a couple songs have similar lyrical themes but just as many if not more veer off into something else and the only shared musical themes really are somewhere now/forever now
Yeah that’s why I said it’s not gonna be like RevRad, since that was just a normal album
Not getting my hopes up but I'd love something with more cohesion, closest thing really to that we've gotten since 21CB is trilogy songs mentioning red lights flashing and somewhere now/forever now on revrad
Then again that's pretty much as far as american idiot went too
yeas, and i really want to see the making off of this record, cause i'm a nerd to these little things lol maybe this vocals were just a placeholder.
something interesting too is that the song in 2021 were more similar to the trilogy sound than this version released
i just recorded a cover of look ma no brains
https://youtu.be/K9EMbchyQq8
Just releasing a little silly cover of this song that a i loved it since the first minute i heard it! haha hope you like it!
#greenday #saviors #lookmanobrains #cover #greendaycover #covers #covergreenday
cause i loved this one so hard
this. the album version is gonna be a solid rack at least
Do the background lyrics in 1981 say “so long, farewell?”
Fr it sounds so much better
I watched a video of the debut performance and I do believe he couldn't hear himself, he seemed annoyed at one point and he stopped singing for a bit to adjust something in his ear
What's the joke here?
billie seems to forget the lyrics to longview quite a bit
idk if that's recency bias talking but i've def seen it a couple times
Interesting
I did see that one video where he called a fan up to finish the song, then the fan decided to play JAR (which he killed it on), but I didn't know it was a recurring thing
maybe it did only happen the one time
idk
but i swear it's happened more than once
hmm
then again my memory is not to be trusted on anything really
so take that with a grain of salt
oh ok
So far we know and heard 4 songs from Saviors.
LMNB is by far my fav and the best thing they've done since revrad
Not really a joke, he’s just been stumbling through Longview a lot lately. It could be a gimmick though
TADIKM, LMNB, 1981... what's the 4th one?
One eyed bastard
I'd say it's more likely to be a gimmick. He's been singing it for literal decades, why would he suddenly start forgetting it? Especially on a semi-regular basis
I thought that was an outtake from
it's on the tracklist for saviors
and the leaked demo was recorded post-foam i think
Interesting
I think it's not a demo but the mastered version..
So it's quite possible we're gona get the same version
Unless they decided to make some tweaks here and there
Well they have to use another riff, because that one is almost the same as the one from tadikm
Dafaq?? Lmao no it's not
Yes it is, they're both basically the "So what" riff by P!nk with a few changed notes
The guitar sounds are pretty different though
I just heard both and you could make the argument that they are similar but come on they're not
oh they are VERY similar lmao
Similar but not identical.
And so we got a new song..
One eye bastard is basically the so what line but TADIKM’s riff is the chorus melody with a slightly different rhythm, it would be a reach to say that’s ripped off from p!nk
Take the TADIKM chorus melody and give it some dropkick murphys flair
But they have exactly the same rhythm
Ok maybe that was a hyperbole, but all I'm saying is that I think their similarity is so big that it's highly unlikely the won’t have changed the oeb riff for the album version
I do agree that the riffs are a bit too similar to have on the same album
but this is also Green Day we're talking about
and also, maybe the riffs being similar is apart of the album being more cohesive or something? like in the same way 21CB and See The Light have the same opening?
The riff really just aren’t that similar
The one similarity is that there is a whole step hammer-on
It was recorded sometime in 2020 after foam, whereas saviors was recorded from 2021 to 2023 so there’s almost no chance the 2020 recording would be on the album unchanged
It’s likely a new recording of it
melodically they're pretty damn similar
Most of the similarity is rhythmically I’d say
an use of a riff as some motif will be interesting
i still want the oeb intro to change though
I highly doubt they'll change it though
Honestly I think they will, that OEB demo is from when they were still working with butch walker
I bet it'll be pretty different
At least in some noticeable way
could still have a possibility of being different but I think at most itll have different lyrics
its not gonna be really new though
Honestly all the song needs is some lyrics changes, especially the chorus, and better mixing similar to LMNB. I'm sure it'll be a banger.
Still a banger even if they keep the riff and just credit p!nk tbh that riff goes hard
That’ll probably be the case since it would be a bit hard to change the riff completely but keep everything else intact
The mixing will be much better and if the lyrics change I think the song will be way better
what the fuck
do VIP tickets give you pit access
im assuming they do but im scared like what if they just put me in a VIP box or something”vip seating” lol
Helicopter fly-by, no seat
depends on the ticket
you’ll know when you buy it, but it’s either a premium floor seat or pit ticket
although I don’t think the VIP packages give you early entry
i assume they have both available right
like u either select vip seat or vip pit
because the package just says “premium ticket” whatever that means
and im just getting it to be in a shorter line
and I don’t think the cheapest vip is that much more expensive than a regular pit ticket
so for pit, you’ll select the pit section and it’ll show standard admission or the different vip package
and for the seats, they’ll have select seats specifically reserved for the VIP Packages, usually the first few rows
oh I see ok
personally I don’t think I’m gonna spend the money on VIP and just go with pit
especially since they’re at stadiums, the barricade is HUGE and fits a lot of people
for reference, I showed up during The Interrupters set and ended up 2nd row by the time Green Day came on stage
VIP gets their own merch booth though🥺
if you really need to spend $500 just for your own merch booth then be my guest 🤣
Not if there’s an option to preorder merch and pick it up at the venue like FOB did, that was cool
when I saw 5SOS there was an option to order merch on the Live Nation app and pick it up at the booth without waiting in line
it had less options than the actual merch booth but still great
How early before doors open should you show up in line to get front row chance?
Hey guys, I just remembered something: Billie only saves the most controversial words like (gay slur) and (black slur) for concept albums like
and
, so maybe "pdf files" being on TADIKM means
will be a concept album
That’s my fear
my friend showed up for Hella Mega day of at noon and was the first one in line I think
That’s a wild theory😂 the n slur was used in a mocking quote (not to justify it, it’s wrong either way)
Green Day isn’t really a band people camp for so you don’t have to wait super long
also my previous message on my wait time
SHOULD I REFRESH? its 10am and my screen didnt do anything
oh nvm
312 people ahead of me
awesome 🙂 yeah I went to a twenty one pilots concert and people were camping there, but I haven't seen that with the smaller bands I've seen
awesome! 🙂
Huh, what?
Is it already up?
citi presale
I got pit tickets for $229 each plus fees in charlotte, is that a good price?
I am broke now
How are y’all able to buy already 💀
Citi card presale
do they check ID at the door for VIP?
saw some stuff saying that if you got VIP from a ticket transfer it wont work because they check id
(my mom bought the ticket)
Is that only for US
It might be. if it doesn't give you the option on yours then you may not have it
do they give you VIP merch there or do they ship it to you if anyone knows
i dont want to carry it during the concert
Well yeah but it's very controversial
70 fucking Euros
Ok maybe I'm just used to buying merch from smaller bands
I really dig that, I’d prefer this as the album cover honestly
I just bought tix to see them for the first time, and I'm psyched while also shocked that 2 tix in just in front of a general admission lawn were $285 total. My 90s brain is 🤯🤯🤯
Look Ma No Brain!
Looks way worse imo
It’s better than my initial reaction but I still don’t like it
LOOK, MA NO HANDS!!
My motto for NNN
Billy Joe
ironic snippet of lyrics here
Everything seems like this is going to be an incredibly solid album
i guess the title track really sucks if they couldn't even find one nice thing to say about it
Sounds like Revolution Radio 2.0, which is all I want tbh
They took it down, I wish someone had archived the site
i archived all of the translations for the song descriptions at least
if someone wants me to post them here i can
The American Dream is Killing Me
We already know this song. In fact, the song was released at the end of October as the album's lead single, and is also the opening track. It's the typical Green Day-esque triplet (see Longview or Minority, for example), complete with a short, melodic guitar solo.
Look Ma, No Brains!
Also in order, the second single released is also the second song on the tracklist. It's a much more adrenaline-pumping song than the previous one, in which the great influence that a group like the Ramones has always exerted on Green Day emerges. Short, and lightning-fast.
||Bobby Sox||
||The song starts with slow and somewhat "sloppy" vocals and guitar chords. After a couple of laps, the whole band attacks with a very aggressive sound. Billie Joe gives an almost metal vocal performance in the chorus, very scratchy, à la Chester Bennington (RIP), something rarely heard before by him in the past. The song itself is fun and catchy; there's even something reminiscent of Weezer in the poise and arrangement.||
One Eyed Bastard
Again the triplet rhythm makes an appearance, here more aggressive and "heavy", with a real riff that sounds almost like the Deep Purple of Black Night.
||Dilemma||
||We all know about Billie Joe's problems with alcohol and substance abuse. A little less obvious that he decides to get naked and talk about it in a frank and direct way in a song with an unequivocal meaning. Chapeau.||
1981
Again the influence of the Ramones is very evident, for another direct and energetic song, perfect for live performances.
||Goodnight Adeline||
||Here's the good old I-V-VI-V harmonic turn on the chorus (the one of U2's With or Without You, to be specific - a true passe-partout of pop and rock songwriting). It's the typical Green Day song with slow power chord accompaniment in eighths, very melodic and also passionate, since it also deals with the theme of addictions.||
||Coma City||
||The song tells the dystopian vision of a lawless city in chaos and disarray. It starts with an epic intro with guitar ostinato and drum and bass cuts. It closes with a very intense coda, with a nice drum performance by Tré Cool.||
||Corvette Summer||
||A beautiful declaration of love for rock music in its essence. The song itself is quite simple, almost garage rock, as befits a song with this intent.||
||Suzie Chapstick||
||It would seem to be another song dedicated to the theme of addiction, and probably to a person who is no longer with us. The very melodic guitar chords (complete with acoustic guitar, which peeps out for the first time on the record) have something vaguely Springsteen-esque about them. Of note: the song closes with a major seventh chord, a truly unexpected harmonic finesse for a band that bases almost everything on power chords.||
||Strange Days Are Here to Stay||
||It's the demented-apocalyptic piece that again draws from the spirit of American Idiot. The intro has something reminiscent of Billy Bragg's style: just vocals and power chord in slightly distorted guitar downstrokes.||
||Living in the '20s||
||A song that basically continues in the thematic wake of the previous one. The style is akin to the alternative rock of The Hives and here there is a first, real guitar solo (all on a pentatonic scale).||
||Father to a Son||
||The most moving track on the record. It is based on a very acoustic accompaniment (acoustic guitar, piano, strings) and non-trivial harmonic turns. The almost Beatles-esque string section repeats a beautiful ostinato.||
||Saviors||
||Bizarrely, there is nothing particular to say about the title track. An unremarkable piece.||
||Fancy Sauce||
||The last song on 'Saviors' opens with an arpeggiated vocal and guitar intro that sounds almost like a lullaby. Again we hear the unmistakable I-V-VI-V ride. It closes with a rather long instrumental coda, excellent to hear live.||
This seems really interesting
Based on these descriptions I'm really interested in hearing Bobby Sox, Coma City, Corvette Summer, Living in the 20s, Father To a Son and Fancy Sauce
“Bizarrely, there is nothing particular to say about the title track. An unremarkable piece.” 😭😭
That's kinda funny actually. Naming an album after (supposedly) one of the most boring songs on the album
It could also just be this reviewers opinion though too, it could be absolutely amazing and this person just didn't think much of it
Rolling stone one is still up
Oh wait, they edited it, it didn't look that way earlier 💀
At least this one wasn't deleted like the other
Can you guys put this stuff in spoiler tags or something please
Basically dropping album spoilers in here
Nothing wrong with talking about it but wholeass descriptions of all the songs on the unreleased album feel like they should at least be spoiler tagged
@knotty crow
Many thanks
yeah i'll do the same with mine, sorry i figured because the link was posted earlier people would have seen it already
give me a sec to spoiler the messages
Yeah if people wanted to see it they could have clicked the link but if they didn’t wanna see it and didn’t click it, well then it’s just here in chat hard to avoid
Thank you
And I’m not saying you gotta spoiler all discussion of unreleased songs this just seems to be a bit of a special case since it’s literally a bigass list saying what each song sounds like and what some of the lyrics are. So I guess for now just keep discussion about what’s in that article spoilered
Seems to have been published early or something
From the way it’s worded I really think there’s something odd about this one
i'm really curious to listen to the title track
like even with the other descriptions that are pretty short we at least get some idea of what the songs sound like
yeah it seems like most of the album has a similar energy to look ma no brains
which i'm excited for
says who
Catch up on the conversation
this could be our insomniac 2.0 with nimrod 2.0 and
just green day fast paced with some diverse in it
I doubt title track will actually be that boring like it’s being made out to be, especially with how in depth they went into every other song
Like I doubt it’s that much different and bad that it’s the only song that is not noteworthy
which if true is kinda disappointing because i always look forward to title tracks the most from albums
that's what i thought
but idk
Probably the 4th
i feel like if there's a third single it'll be 1981 because they've already played it live a couple times
but for post-album singles then yeah
yeah even one eyed bastard is 'remarkable' to the reviewer
I mean it’s a 15 song album so we could get 4 singles
right
i listened to one eyed bastard again earlier and it sounds fine, it just needs a bit of a tuneup
like the piano shouldn't be there, sounds too foam-y for me
yeah
also i hope the chorus is different
because "bada bing bada bing bada boom (x2)" is extremely boring
I think considering rob cavallo is on this I doubt it’ll be a bland song
that's what i'm hoping
the 'roots' of the song are totally fine, it just needed to be tweaked a little bit imo
and with rob at the helm for this album i hope those necessary changes were made
I still think somethings up with the title track
The way it’s described in contrast to every other song it makes it come off as the song remaining hidden for now
Which would make sense if it’s going to be one of the singles further down the line
the short lyric snippet didn't seem too interesting but also it was one line so i can't judge much
but still
that's all we know about the song so what else is there to say lol
Yeah not much
this definitely seems like an album where more of the songs will be played live
i hope it's not another hella mega situation where nothing from father of all was played
Also I just realized they make note of the singles but only mention TADIKM and LMNB
I feel like just based on that maybe it didn’t release early (or at least not by much)
Can't believe it's only just over 2 months away from now. That time will go by damn fast
meanwhile i'm sitting here like "damn 2 months is a long time, i can't wait that long"
Once Christmas/New Years is out of the way, it's basically upon us
the album will probably leak at some point
It almost certainly will
i remember listening to the father of all leak a little bit before the album came out
It's just a matter of when. Is it a day or two before? Or a week or two? It leaking is an inevitability though unfortunately
When it leaks I’m gonna have to have a strong will
i kinda just wanna listen to it as soon as possible lol
the hard part is gonna be not spoiling it
for other people
I hope it’s not another warning situation when it comes to leaks
Because that shit leaked SUPER early
For all we know the band might even leak it themselves, look at American Dream and No Brains
I doubt the band is gonna leak their whole album
But when it inevitably does I hope you guys know the drill by now
Post it here for everyone to listen?! 😬😬😬
Don’t post any links or file downloads and don’t offer or ask people to send links or file downloads, nor ask or tell people where to find them
Them’s the rules
Those lyrics go hard.
Sad that it seems like the leaked OEB version is the final one? Maybe?
My guts tells me it'll be the same
My gut tells me it won’t since the album and all songs aren’t produced by butch walker
Yeah it’s almost definitely not the same recording, that was recorded in 2020 at Otis I believe
At the very least we’ll get a higher quality recording with better mixing
And since the album is going for it, it’ll probably be a stripped down version
Yeah probably the same, maybe a few small lyrical changes, maybe slight different musical changes like maybe there are some differences in the bass performance but mostly the same
Because it’s the only thing they can still speculate about I guess
The Saviors version of OEB might be the song I'm most excited to hear at this point honestly
But also I don't know what the others sound like
Yeah
That's beyond wishful thinking
Yeah I’m waiting
I'm saving myself for god
i’m a sinner
if i get my grubby hands on a leak i’m 100% listening to it
i will not spoil the album for anyone else though
I listened to both RR and FOA leaks
i wasn’t around for revrad’s release but i listened to the father of all leak, i don’t even remember how i found it
I remember exactly where I was when I was listening to it
“where were you when father of all leaked”
in my 6th period class saying “I mean it’s a leak the quality is gonna sound like shit”
nope that’s just the album
also 100% not getting leaked here
it’ll be somewhere else
people wouldn’t be talking about the leak in here i don’t think
depends i guess
I listened to Somewhere Now when Revrad leaked then found the willpower to wait
I listened to all of it
Zero willpower
Yeah I remember listening to rev rad a couple days before it came out. Blew me away. Love that album
But that was 7 years ago. Maybe I'll have the willpower to wait this time
Fucking shit that was 7 years ago
i still am compared to most others here
So the next single might be 1981 , given that they have already performed it live 2-3 times.
I was hoping It could be saviors but the billboard review was bad
I’m still not sure about that
I feel like there’s no way there’s only one song they didn’t find noteworthy
Something feels off about it
reviewer probably left the song running while they went to go use the bathroom and then were like "ah shit uhh just say it was mid"
Could be
lmao
I feel like often Green Day either has an album with no misses or way too many misses
at the same time i don't wanna go off of just one review
obv it's all there is rn
but my opinion on this album isn't gonna be decided fully by just one review
Yea
So I just checked the tracklist on Wikipedia
Not sure if you guys already saw it or anything, but there's a title track
Of course there is, every Green Day album since
has had a title track except for
,
and
Also, apparently Green Day doesn't own the copyrights to any of their albums aside from
and
, which is just crazy consider that's 84.6% of their albums, including masterpieces like
and
They just don't own the copyrights to any of them, at all
Also the singles are first on the tracklist, wHaT a sUrPRisE
What the hell are you on about man
Can't wait for the third single tho, any news on when that's dropping
what is bro yapping about
That’s what I’m sayin
Yeah, I'd like to know that too
no official news, i kind of doubt one is coming though
before the album at least
but like, there's still over two months before the album drops
they released the first two singles just a little over a week apart
maybe like early december if one is coming out
as for what song it is i will be very surprised if it's not 1981
They own the copyrights to Saviors.. I saw i while i was purchasing a vinyl and a tape
I hope the lyric videos look nice
Wasn't expecting a music video for No Brains so that was a pleasant surprise
Oh yeah, it's their first album since
that they own the copyrights too, yeah
I wanna be on TV want people to love me
I take that back actually
It’s more Records-Weezer
Or maybe the brief lackluster review was deliberately requested by Green Day so they can surprise everyone with how good the song is. Since people are now expecting it to be unremarkable and have nothing particularly worth mentioning, we'll all be shocked when the song comes out and it's absolutely amazing.
I'm so hyped for this album. Really looking foward to all songs, even that reviewer describing the song 'saviors' as 'unremarkable' made me even more curious about it lol
Really curious about bobby sox and the screaming, coma city and its dystopian vision, dilemma, goodnight adeline, father to a son... some really personal stuff. apparentely billie is not trying to avoid anything here.
Another thing is that second 1972 teaser is probably "suzie chapstick" cause match with the description... the first appearance of an acoustic guitar on the album was reported in the this piece here.
Maybe this album will make some interesting additions in the green day catalog and it will be its own thing.
Why didn’t they have the copyrights for most of their albums? Is it because of Reprise?
Yeah, probably
After all, when they negotiated the contract they didn't know
was gonna blow up like it did, and they didn't know they'd end up doing music for so long
Now that they're an established legacy band with loads of prestige, I suppose they simply negotiated a better contract
I just thought that was a leaked review but seems not maybe? Don’t worry about the spoiler thing
Billy Joe
Man that really does get me excited for the rest of these songs!
They did their best when recording Saviors and the last time did was when they did American Idiot.
Does this mean they didn't give their best when recording 21srcbd, triology, revrad??
That probably was just him saying that to make the album more appealing
yeah
In Welcome to My Panic he mentioned that they worked really hard on 21st Century Breakdown and that he thinks it's their most ambitious work so
I think he's just saying that to hype it up bc well, everyone knows AI
I just realised they say that everytime a new album comes out
well generally yes artists tend to say their most recent work is their best
or at the very least that it's super ambitious or grandiose or whatever term best fits the album
even if it's not necessarily true it's typically something that's said
They always say some variation of “it’s some of our best stuff yet”
Musician try not to call your newest album your best album challenge (impossible)
Even with FOAM they did
I liked the songs on FOAM . Only problem was the production.
They should have let Butch vig or Rob handle it
Yea i’d say he’s saying they had the same type of feeling when working on AI… as opposed to 21st where they were coming off a supermassive album with a lot of expectations and a bar set incredibly high not only for the fans but for themselves.
So really just a different scenario and feeling going into creating AI and Saviors as opposed to 21st.
Y'know, for once it'd be nice to see a band admitting their new album isn't their best and saying that it's just good.
Why would any artist do that tho lol
"Oh this new thing we have coming out is mid you guys don't even bother"
If they say things like that it's a while after it's released
“Yo this album sucks ass, please buy it”
Unironically I might wanna buy it more if they said that
i mean hey at least they’re honest
“This shit is terrible, I don’t even know why our label is letting us release this. Please buy it”
Like that makes me hella curious
@obsidian harbor you have the right idea
What
^
Yea
^
👍
you got the right idea
Personally, I'm more interested in the lack of trap beats and features
Billie " I want to buy a t shirt, please buy our new album, pretty please"
Noice
Hell yeah
It's a Green Day song, of course it's #1 on the rock chart, the problem is that it's not also #1 on the overall music chart
that will never happen in 2023
I would be awestruck if awestruck a Green Day song reaches the billboard hot 100 in 2023
Not saying it’s impossible I’d just be amazed
But if they didn’t have a chart topper with any American idiot singles they won’t now
Was Boulevard not a chart topping single?
The thing is it has to be fairly commercial and as much as you want to call them sell outs or badly produced, they havent really made anything too commercial apart from a few attempts on FOAM
it wasn’t the top of the charts but it was close
these are their only Billboard Hot 100 songs
Interesting
I was surprised to learn that they've never topped the charts
Back in the 70s, rock was always on the top. Even the pop songs were more rock than anything. Now look how bad society's music taste has gotten...
lewronggeneration
This is cringe
For god sake their is so much good music out their that aint just rock
shut up man 😭
there’s so much amazing new music out there
Wha??? I though LMNB would enter for sure
They still have "father to a son" and you know how their ballads are super popular
What, like Justin Bieber? That's shit. Not THE shit, just shit. Not Dookie, just plain old shit.
Justin Bieber was the worst thing to ever happen to pop music, second only to autotune.
Justin Bieber hasn’t even dropped an album in 2 years, and he’s not the only pop artist in the world
I still can't get over the fact that people refer to Imagine Dragons as a rock band lmao
ABBA and Michael Jackson are the only non-rock artists who can even compare to rock musicians
Are you 12
Your on fucking crack
What are you on about
??????
These are some immature ass takes
bro listen to some more fucking music
DO YOU WAN'T ME TO GIVE YOU A LIST
I’ll give you my ranked list of the 120 albums I’ve listened to from 2023
great stuff there
all genres
Michael Jackson is rock artist. Fact
Of course not, but Michael Jackson died in 2009, ABBA broke up in 1982 (before coming back for one last album in 2021) and they were the only good pop artists
No.
👶
The only rock song Michael Jackson ever did was Beat It, plus he's literally the King of Pop.
Can you drop your cold 8th grade music takes in like #music or something, this is the saviors thread
Ariana Grande? MARINA? Chappell Roan? Lil Nas X?
you’ve never listened to any of those pop artists?
The 80's and 90's was such a good time for music.. pop, rock hip hop whatever genre.. the music was dope
Ariana grande spray paints herself brown
yeah but she makes some bops
fuck
sweetener is a great album
All shit. All rubbish compared to Green Day. I'd rather listen to Nightlife on loop for 1 hour than any of their songs.
So you’ve listened to them? Since you’re calling them rubbish I’d assume you’ve heard their projects!
Good for you, please let us know when you’ve listened to more than 5 musical groups
Chappell Roan dropped an amazing pop record this year. It’s a shame you’ve heard it and didn’t like it though
Nope. And I never want to.
Never even heard of the artist you've mentioned, we'll except for Ariana grande
Okay i get it with like them somewhat but what about like the new Sampha album Lahai?
understandable but they’re all great pop artists.
‼️‼️‼️
That is an amazing record
Never heard of 'em
Move this to #music or #random please
Okay!
Wrong channel for arguing with 7th graders
i’ll see y’all in #music
About irrelevant stuff
Society…
😔
Sorry I didn’t see the convo was moved
LMNB ain’t getting on the charts
If people had good music taste, LMNB would be an instant #1 hit, but they don't
Ong
It's still going on in #music
Ok so don’t bring it here
Yeah get back into #music
What's make you guys so sure LMNB won't be on the charts?? It's fking amazing , i dig it more than TADIKM
They should drop Father to a son, as per records and rumours that song is a tear jerker , it'll make our brains blow out idk
If they drop a song other than Father to a son, then the rumors are fake
Fking green day
Idk why I am angry today
it’s a great song but the marketing is shit
