the 21st cb b sides are really good imo and have an old green day vibe mixed with newer green day
i hope for 1972 its similar to that with some new sounds
the drums sound like how they did on dookie and kerplunk imo
You must keep in mind that those tapes haven't been mastered yet. That's why they sound so raw
Just had a thought, it'd be hilarious if 1972 turned out to be a compilation like International Superhits
With a new song like JAR on the former (well, "New" in that case)
Almost entirely not the case
Actually, even with this almost definitely being a new studio album, I wouldn't mind another best of with stuff from after IntSup
Could this be a hint they may debut a song live?
Probably not but who knows lol
Wasn't that what God's Favorite Band was for?
I'd rather have a 2nd B side album
With
The Saints Are Coming
Working Class Hero
The Simpsons theme
Xmas Time of the Year
And all the other 2021 singles
Maybe even rarites
Who knows since this 1972 thing is a celebration of green day
Shenanagain!
heheheheh love the name
Would love more b-sides in a collection so it's easier to find on streaming services
also so we can get the simpsons theme over here
Faxx
Ffs whenâs 1972 dropping?
People are saying that Billie said next year
But that makes no sense bc why is it called 1972
Theyâre all 50 this year
December 6th release date
Maybe when theyâre all 50 it comes out
This is one giant hour long song.
*JOS Part 2
Where's this from?
The video you sent lol
Thought so lol, I just couldn't see it
Hm, maybe, that would make sense too, I just thought tracklist cause the text looks so thick
Looking closer, there looks to be words scribbled out
I can't really but there's ten rows it appears
It's probably not a tracklist though
will they be releasing a single or two?
Probably a few
kewl
I ran a couple of teasers through genius last night but still nothing đ
I'm getting rly impatient for this album icl
Same but on the bright side, if they take extra time, we may get something extra special.
tru
So far, sounds good. They just gotta stick the landing and deliver something bold
I want the reflective side we saw with Rev Rad but I hope that wasn't a one off
In terms of the lyrical content, Billie once said they were going to be writing some satirical songs
And with them doing the "big slow song" and the acoustic one, I think those will have some reflective and/or resonant lyrical themes
Yeah this albumâs gonna bang basically
Iâm really excited
The lengthy recording gives me a lot of hope
I feel like they quickly recorded the last album and threw it at us
I wholeheartedly believe that GD's intent with Father Of All was to divert our expectations
After Revolution Radio, they could have done the exact same thing again and people would've been happy. Instead they made something completely unorthodox for them
Yeah I respect that so much but I think itâs pretty obvious that they didnât put as much effort as usual into that album
Not saying itâs bad at all bc I like the album but I feel like they definitely didnât try their hardest
Hoping the critics eat their words when this album comes out
Sorta like when AI dropped after Warning
I really hope, Green Day hasn't released an all time classic in ages now
theyâre too old now to release an album that would blow up again like AI and Dookie, thats unfortunately just how it works
But I have a good feeling that it will be a huge album for the rock community and fans too
Yeah that would be hilarious
Oh, I don't care about reception, I just mean quality writing
The critics can think whatever they want as long as the band and fans get something out of it.
I mean the songs sound incredible so far
I assume the writing will be good too
Sounds like theyâre going all out on this
nah it gotta be Âż and ?
LETS GOOOOOOO
YESSSSS
Source: trust me bro
Well, the picture is real. CLA is a mixing engineer, so theyâre probably done recording and are just mixing it at this point. That could take a long time though, and the album has to be mastered. Plus all of the album art has to be made as well. Considering the fact that we donât have a single from the album yet tells me that weâre still not getting it anytime soon.
Yeah the picture was on claâs insta
^
Album's not coming out this year, that's for sure
First single should be out relatively soon
I hope so
I see literally no evidence that the album will even be called 1972
Hmm
They tag it and show it in all teasers. Unless you have a better suggestion, this is all we have for a "title"
My point isnât that itâs gonna be something else itâs that itâs not necessarily gonna be that
Itâs the year they were born in, itâs also not something theyâve historically done to hashtag or even reveal the title that early
FOA teasers werenât tagged with #fatherofallmotherfuckers or #foam
Everyone thought it would be called songs for assholes
So no, we donât have a clue what the title will actually be and using it in hashtags doesnât mean shit
I didn't say we did, we just don't have a solid answer for right now
It's the best we can do
To be fair, they did use the âRevRadâ hashtag when teasing Revolution Radio. Seems like it could go either way.
Off the topic of the title, I think they're making a documentary
Why's that
Is that clip from anything? I don't watch many music docs, so it might be
I'm thinking because of how extensively they've been filming their creative process on the album and that clip on TikTok
Teaser 10, with the vocals and Rob at the board looks like it could fit a documentary
Green Day in the studio with producer Rob Cavallo working on their forthcoming album 1972. For all the latest on the new album, check out our album 14 page: https://greenday.fm/music/studio-releases/album-14/
#greenday #recording #newalbum #1972
That's true
New Green Day Tik Tok upload showing never before seen Pro shot footage from the trilogy era - also one of the hashtags being #musicdocumentary đ
#greenday #1972 #2022 #tiktok
please subscribe for more music content
I don't think those hashtags mean anything. Their profile manager is basically just spamming random shit
#bts lol
But a new documentary would be cool đ
Would it come out on DVD
Wouldn't mind a CD/DVD thing
Yeah they used #foamf on a few posts before the announcement
Thatâs a few posts before the album, 1975 has been used for a year now at this point
That doesnât really matter
Also in one tik tok you can hear tre say âthis new albumâs gonna be so good. 1972 yâallâ
Why does it matter what we call it when we don't know the title?
So theres potential that there might be a 1972 documentary?
Yes
I stitched together a teaser for it.
Thanks to Jack Lokison for the logo.
This is fan-made
Nobody is saying that. Iâm just saying that we donât need to act like we know thatâs what the album is called because we donât.
Yeah lol
It's most likely 1972, just like RevRad was Revolution Radio and how they tagged things with FOAMF. If it's not 1972 then it will be associated with it or subtitled
Itâs not anything, it can be at least an abbreviation of the title but itâs not the confirmed title
But nobody said it was confirmed
Nothing about it is even confirmed except it existing
We are just calling it that for now
Then why are you arguing with me?
I said itâs not a confirmed name and I have people arguing with me over that
when are we getting 72 anyways
also I hope it's not like the trilogy or rev rad or 21stcb
where some lyrics are (wtf is this)
Next year, we've got nothing concrete.
Wishing for a single in the coming months
we gotta wait for the universe to reset and then wait for it to be the year 1972 and then it will come out
Pain
Ye I just hope the lyrics are on point this time around
Trilogy was a shitshow
Then suddenly Stray Heart
Like look at Stray Heart and idk Carpe Diem itâs super inconsistent
The only thing we know is they're satirical somewhat
Wait what lyrics have you heard from it?
None, there is one lyric which is mumbled, it sounds like "and too late at night I'm wide awake, alwa-"
The satirical bit came from an interview
Oh was that from that clip with cavallo in it?
Oh I didnât think they spoke about this album publicly yet
Yep
It was only loosely related, something like next go around, we wanna take this approach
2,000 light years away has entered the chat
Oh ok lol
green day 1972 is gonna be a good album hopefully
I just hope there's an actual real effort put into this, Rob Cavallo always brought out the best in this group and on their big "we promise we don't suck now guys, the last one was a fluke" back to roots apology album, they can't afford to miss and make something as mediocre as they have for over a decade now.
Everything here sounds like Green Day going to their roots and writing something they may have written for something such as 39 Smooth with the creative lense they have now.
That's not to say it will be anything like Smooth, it's only to say this is most likely the band going back to square one in a way that feels true to their sound now.
If they were who they are now, back then, what would they write together?
This album kinda seems like a classic rock x punk album with modern quality so far
Itâs pretty different for them which is so exciting
I donât think Revolution Radio is mediocre at all idk why so many ppl think that
Itâs one of my favorites from them
The songs are quality Iâve never understood why so many fans donât like it
Oh, I love Rev Rad and actually a few tracks on the trilogy, 21CB and FOAMF. I just don't think these albums are consistent enough to be called classics.
A lot of the songs (not counting Revolution Radio because that's them doing what they're best at) have been really meh and felt half assed. That feels kind of rude to say about a band as productive as Green Day but yeah, a lot of it feels somewhat uninspired.
I think they're at an interesting point in their career because they're on a brand new chapter as free agents of their music. As a band who came from a Punk ethos, I'm sure having this sort of freedom is rejuvenating to them and they'll wanna do something big for this next venture.
Yeah it seems like thatâs what theyâre doing
Theyâre going all out
For this album
Hate me all you want but Carpe Diem is mid
So is Nuclear Family
Ik my favorite album may be the trilogy but c'mon
There are some mid tracks
Most of the good songs on the trilogy sound exactly the same
Like?
Well, I shouldn't say most, but for example Ashley, SD&V and Nuclear Family. It's all very thin sounding and the production leaves a lot to be desired.
Critical reception neutered this band a little, they know what the most lucrative mainstream market wants, another Dookie or American Idiot. As long as they aren't rocking the boat, they can sell.
That's not to say they don't have any artistic integrity or that they don't ever experiment, they're just confined by audience expectations, after all, it's a job, you're making a product to sell to an audience, sometimes you have to sacrifice certain aspects of that.
meh its a bit not great to me
Alr fair enough
Let Yourself Go is alright if you're angry
Stray Heart though
great song
GD seriously if you're doing love more like this
why does Billie sound so much more nasal in earlier albums though
also the music video is perfect
it looks like a fucking fever dream but it also suits the entire album so well
there's a lot of different hypothesis
First one is that they're a socal punk band, and socal punk has a specific sound at the time
Also, since I'm assuming he wasn't a very advanced singer, he couldn't change his voice all that well
its a technique for preserving singing voice
i mean the voice he is using right now
Theory:
Green Day is making an album, documentary and soundtrack
Dreaming, I Get Around, Rock N Roll All Night will be on the soundtrack, the IGA clip, the studio clips and the new interviews with no source are from this upcoming movie
"new" interviews are unused clips from Turn it Around documentary
Oh, rip there goes my theory then
I feel like they could make a documentary though along with this album
A lot of footage of them making the album seems like it could be from a documentary
So maybe itâll be the album and then a documentary of them making the album too
And a soundtrack EP to go with that, probably songs that meant something to them in their youth. The songs that changed their lives
Yeah maybe
yeah there's a lot of jump cuts in their 1972 related uploads on tik tok so im pretty confident they will
I honestly think this is gonna be the one that saves the band. Since stuff like the trilogy and father of all everyone keeps saying the band fell off and theyâre âboomersâ now.
But this one really gives me hope. The teasers theyâve shown, and the fact that theyâre working with people like Rob Cavallo and Chris Lord Alge again really gets me excited. It feels like theyâre taking all the sounds theyâve experimented with over the last 25 years and really going all out with them.
It seems like theyâre really proud of themselves with this, and theyâre gonna make a great album. This shits gonna be amazing, Iâm excited
I sort of think of this album as their square 1 again, their 39/Smooth with all the experience they've gathered over time.
That sounds interesting
Also nice smiling friends pfp lol
Thanks lol
Imma listen to the new single the second it releases
I have been preparing myself to scream in school if I need to when they announce it
I'm predicting they're about to prepare for a rollout now.
At the show yesterday, it was stated by security that they were testing new material.
Whether or not this means album material is yet to be seen, they did play Disappearing Boy yesterday, so I'm imagining they're slowly gonna start changing the setlist for the rollout.
The change in backdrop yesterday, the 1972 vest, the introduction of other songs (inc Whatsername and Paper Lanterns, yet to be played) in the setlist means they probably are hyping us up for an October drop.
Calling October 17th, their first show as Sweet Children at Rod's.
That would make a lot of sense
Especially with how long theyve been teasing this for
i think we are not getting anything until 2023
Would be kinda unfitting to have it come out at 51
Then again the new Revolver edition rom the Beatles is due 6 years
I don't think we're getting the album until 2023.
A single sounds ripe for the picking and being out by October 17th gives them time to still debut it live for one show.
Not to mention that October 17th is a Monday and Green Day has a history of releasing first singles typically on Mondays
These include Geek Stink Breath, American Idiot and Oh, Love
I've prepared myself to lose hours of sleep listening to it all night when the albums released
yeah and after their show in texas they go back to london to finish it up
they have been working on this album since last year so it may be released this year on tres bday
Yeah Iâm thinking a December release or at the very least, an official announcement in December
most likely won't happen but imagine if they record or re-record studio versions of when you're near, stay, jennifer, you can't fool me and forever someday for 1972
i really love this idea, what do u think?
yeah
That would kinda be hilarious if they doubled down on the crappy album art and repeated themselves.
Something like this
Nah I hope they donât do that lmao
Even though they donât matter to the quality of the album, a good cover is still nice to have
I don't either, it'd be funny
Tbh literally just the number 1972 would do it
Keep it ambiguous and let the music speak for itself?
Iâm like pretty sure itâll be called 1972
Maybe itâll be some other title but itâs definitely relating to 1972 some how
any updates :/
Nothing until 2023
I hope they at least announce it this year
Itâs been like 10 months since the first teaser
October 17th single gang, where are you at?
I really really hope it comes out around that time lol
If so, we only got one week left
They pinned one of their early teasers to their tik tok
Maybe thatâs the song theyâre releasing?
It wasnât pinned until now
October 17th, here we come!
Letâs hope đ„ł
Is it the acoustic one?
No itâs the one where Mike is singing the guitar part of the song and then Billieâs like: âyeah Green Dayâ
One day after my birthday, that would be great
Your birthday is one day before national Green Day
Nice to know
Unfortunate that I was not born on the 17th
- Green Day day
- Possible new Green Day single
- New Red Hot Chili Peppers album
Oh wow, I didn't know the Chili Peppers were dropping. That's more of a reason to believe
I thought RHCP were dropping tomorrow
Do you guys think that with the Nimrod anniversary stuff rolling out, we won't be seeing 1972 stuff for a couple of months?
Oh you're right
Honestly I have no idea, but Iâm hoping for the best. Itâd be cool to get a new 1972 song soon, but Iâm still happy with the new nimrod stuff
Yeah i at least hope a single is released from the album
Nimrod being my favorite album of theirs makes the wait for #1972 more tolerable. Gonna throw a few predictions out the window for it and see how many stick.
It's not gonna come out this year at this point
They made Nimrod 25 for the appitiser
I'm still in the camp of there being a single on the 17th because of a few reasons.
I really hope but I donât know why they would other than that 1st show thing
That and the first mention of the 1972 title was a photo of Sweet Children, since it's a Monday, it's the weekdays they practiced with John Kiffmeyer and they recently pinned a teaser to their TikTok as you pointed out.
I'm not saying it's concrete, these are all anecdotal until proven otherwise.
Thatâs some good evidence though
Hopefully itâs true
Im so excited I literally cannot wait anymore lmao
Well today is the day
Letâs see if thereâs a new song or not
Maybe not
But thereâs a possibility there will be
Not until 2023 sorry
Damn
Figured something wasn't coming, it was the only date that made sense.
Ok yea weâre not getting a new song today lol
Definitely not, oh well lol
Theyâre really testing us đ
I'd rather wait and it be good than not wait and it be shit
Lady cobra has been confirmed to be writing and rapping for new music for 1972
Two new songs
PLUS the hand claps will be on those two songs đđđ
They're confirmed to be Here Comes The Shock [Revised] and Beer Goggles.
Fuck These People will be in 1972
Aw dammit here comes the shock isnât good lmao
Whatâs beer goggles
What Cobra calls a "Rap Rock anthem for the Budweiser crowd!"
i think the album is coming when tre is 50 so everyone is 50
I hope so
Oh. Where did you hear all of this lol
Omg that makes sense đ
Besides being about their birth, do you think the title could be a callback to Lester Bangs and the first publicized mention of Punk the same year?
Because I was thinking this album could be a callback to Proto Punk
Billie Joe's costume is a perfect amalgamation of this, being a cross between a tight leather wearing, Elvis haired Rock Star and a dirty, dark, spike wristband wearing Punker lol
This means they'd borrow largely from groups like The New York Dolls, Alice Cooper, MC5, The Who and T. Rex
where did you see this
Itâs a joke lol
I didnât figure đ
Yeah from the clips so far I feel like itâs very classic rock x punk so this makes sense that maybe these older bands influenced it
Let's just hope it comes out before Billie Joe's 51st
The big problem here is that they've been trying to make Garage and Proto Punk for ages now. If I had to judge by the trailers, I'd argue 1972 is another album for the Hottubs crowd except in an American Idiot skin. Big grandiose songs that have a lot of guitar bullshit over them.
This band needed a kick in the ass to be the absolute unit that they were before and Father Of All should be the shadow that looms upon them, the entire time they record this. That 20 minute nothing is what they shouldn't be.
Yeah whatever genre it is it sounds incredible
All of the teasers have sounded so good
So Iâm really not worried
They definitely still got it lmao
Wait daylight savings time ends November 6th this isnât a 1972 thing
đż
Anything's possible
Nothing's*
Hence the gif
I hope we get the album relatively soon or at least an announcement but Iâd rather it be good and wait then be ok and come sooner
But they are really testing us đ
Itâs been like 11 months almost
Theyâve almost been teasing this for a fucking year and no new music so far
Hopefully we get something around the time Treâs birthday rolls around
Im happy with the stuff theyâre doing for Nimrodâs anniversary. You Irritate Me was an awesome song
But like weâve been teased with a new album and all these videos on tiktok promoting it. But so far, no official announcement, no new songs, barely anything
Yeah Iâm really hoping for something around treâs birthday too
I feel like the album is done too bc there were rumors that it was being mastered months ago
Theyâre probably waiting for a good time to drop something
Theyâve also been more quiet for a couple weeks maybe theyâre preparing for it?
Is there a confirmed date for the album to release?
Nope
Iâm hoping for early 2023
Tre's birthday is the next date I'm eyeing or right after Nimrod25.
Theyâve already said it will be 2023 so it wonât be Treâs birthday and there will likely be 2-3 singles released prior to the album so it wonât be anytime before the spring in all likelihood
This sounds bad, it's only a concept. Listen to it at 2x lol
I don't have anything to do with Green Day, this is a fan-made project.
Vocals used: Whatsername (American Idiot)
Iâm hoping for an announcement on treâs birthday though
And maybe a single if they please
Yeah, we know we won't hear the complete album until 2023 but an announcement of some kind would be appreciated
I just donât see it happening then, itâs probably the worst time of year to drop a new single. If they were given a good slot on a New Years Eve show I could see them performing it live and releasing after but thatâs probably not gonna happen.
The đ hype đ is đ real đ
Idk maybe theyâll put out a single sometime in December lol
Thatâs what Iâm hoping, like right around the time Tre turns 50
Yeah but Iâm still hopeful lmao

what the fuck is this
That was obviously a joke
oh
Sorry but nothing about 1972 will be out in 2022. Not even a single. Expect an announcement after the Nimrod anniversary release. Maybe in late February.
Yea I guess youâre right
Iâm just hoping for an announcement
Like a release date and stuff
Maybe a track list if theyâre feeling nice
Except teases and potentially the album cover
Another teaser would suffice
a full song?
Not sure if anyoneâs brought this up yet https://www.instagram.com/p/ClAiWK8r5IU/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
I think theyâre doing a music video
Music video time!
Music video time!
Acting? Does that mean we could get a story here like in JOS or WMUWSE?
Maybe! Thatâd be pretty cool lol
It looks like they're playing younger versions of the members
That would make sense for the possible theme of the album
Not even any teasers?
You can tell what's going on here, right?
This is cool
Thatâs amazing
Iâm excited for an actual new album cover unlike foamf đ
FOAMF but worse đŹ
Anything is probably okay as long as they donât rip off another one of their album covers lmao
Font used?
Couldn't tell you, sorry, it was taken from some lightning merch they did
That's the official logo from BJA jacket
Damnit
They really enjoy teasing us lmaoo đ
I swear theyâre gonna do smth for treâs birthday
"Big releases coming this month"
This month is December
Photo is them at a soundboard
Tre's birthday is the ninth đ
I wasnât sure if they were referring to the album or Oakland coffee lmao
But Iâm really hoping they mean the album đ„Čđ„Č
Itâs clearly for the coffee club since the entire message is about the coffee club and is addressed to the Oakland Coffee Club and the message is from Oakland Coffee
Yeah thatâs what I thought lol
You're right
Most likely
the 9th? wasnt it the 8th?
huh
i stand corrected
think i got that mixed up with ||John Lennon's assassination||
Is there any more news on this?
Not anything new
Today marks one year of Green Day teasing the 1972 project
I thought they might tease something else today but idk
No new teasers unfortunately
Damn
I think thereâs a chance. Who knows maybe thisâll be amazing
I definitely think itâll be very good, maybe not best, but very good at least
If it becomes the best album imma need a reality check
this has the potential to be amazing but i doubt it'll be THAT good idk
It sounds really solid, Green Day honing in on their legacy and giving us the sounds they've mastered over 50 years of living
That's at least what it seems to be
i hope it's like their 90s stuff but like more matured
Green Day post the 6th studio teaser for their upcoming album 1972. Video courtesy of u/alpha708 on Reddit. Full story: https://greenday.fm/news/billie-joe-posts-and-quickly-deletes-new-studio-clip/
The fill at the beginning with those guitars flaring up sound unreal
There's something strangely moody and summery about this album thus far
Green Day posted this teaser video to their official TikTok with a clip of a brand new song they are working on in studio.

#greenday #1972
Tre Cool: "this record gonna be so good... 1972 Y'all!!!" He's not lying
You'd know Billie Joe
Is Lady Cobra back?
But I'm not him
I'm just kidding
Ok
What do they have to do with oakland coffee
Bruh
They own the company đ
Yeah, they own it lol
oh
I hope the next single/album goes back to the style of their older sound of music like kerplunk dookie and insomniac
- american idiot
That would be awesome
I just donât want something thatâs once again like father of all
They need to go back to their original sound
They most likely will considering the backlash on the classic rock tone of father of all
As Tre cool says This record gonna be sweet
Wouldnât even call it rock
Father of All reminds me of kiss
Distortion guitars and falsetto throughout the whole song yeah
Basically kiss
Well yeah they have compelling lyrics and a cool backstory
They have a planet named kissteria like wow
Lol ye
I feel like 1972 is a combination of all of their past records in a way
Even foam
I mean maybe who knows
But I feel like thatâs what it seems to be sounding like so far
I highly doubt foam
The main albums the clips remind me of are AI, 21CB, and Nimrod
And then new elements added and stuff
Itâs sounds pretty refreshing and like theyâre trying new things which is great
This my 1972 fan cover art
I made two actually
This the other one
Which one is better?
The second one imo but the first ones funny lol
I tried to capture the nimrod type style with a bit of insomniac in there
For the first one
What
So apparently 1972 is not gonna be called 1972
Also, Rob Cavallo deserves so much more credit, heâs an absolute legend.
I mean that would make sense considering itâs coming in 2023 now so the year wouldnât make as much sense
But in their one clip on tik tok TrĂ© says âthis albumâs gonna be so good, 1972 yâallâ
So I have no idea if theyâre calling it that or smth else based on that statement
1972's a decent codename, I'm glad they're dropping it for the title proper. Normally I wouldn't want a band to hold their own failures over their head, for this, I'll make an exception because no band like Green Day should be making work as identity deficient and sterile as FOAMF
They need that weight on their back to keep their guard up, so they don't wind up making Ford commercial music. If this is the same quality of work with a more "Punk" coat of paint then they've completely lost the plot.
Nah 1972 is gonna be way better just based on the teasers alone
I think itâs important to mention is this
In mid 2020, Billie Joe and Butch Walker (father of all producer) were talking about making a new Green Day album, which we never heard about again. So unless those songs end up on 1972 (which I doubt cause itâs been like 3 years and now theyâre working with Rob Cavallo again), we got another lost Green Day album lol
Initially they were working with Butch Walker again, for whatever fucked up reason
This leads me to believe that the hockey commercial incarnation of Green Day was sticking around until they realized it was a shit idea and this change in sound sucked
I think butch walker is a good producer but I didnât like how he produced FOAMF
Rob cavallo is making the new album sound incredible so far
Rob better not commit the same sins he did on the trilogy, that was so flat sounding
i will not accept trilogy slander
each album has it's themes and they all have some solid songs
in fact all of uno is really solid
dos has its super highs and super lows, but its overall decent
Tre is just a rollercoaster of emotions and whatever and its quite nice
you have a wrong opinion for calling the trilogy flat, respectfully
now if you called Dookie flat, I'd understand
(that is a joke)
I do like the trilogy but the mixing is so weird
And it sounds quieter than their other records
Like CV? To make perhaps a better album???
But pollyanna is actually good though...
It felt different from father of all
Yeah but HCTS sucks lmao
Shock is super lame, Pollyanna's fine, cute song
Shock is just green day tryna to bring back the old rebel style but failed.. they should talk about their hates from the past to capture the feel of what made them good.. but they're getting older so talking positively is good for them so Pollyanna's a bop, it's just not how they used to write songs thougj

This is how they write HCTS
Green day is not repetitive like that usually
It's mostly

Yeah same
Holy Toledo blows those two out of the water
Itâs their best song since RevRad
omg what if Holy Toledo, Pollyanna, and Here Comes The Shock end up on 1972
also, i'd love it if they do just

like they did on 1039SOSH
But they're really good, especially Pollyanna
To each their own but HCTS is terrible and the other two are just ok. Either way, thereâs no reason to put them on the new album since theyâve all been released already for a long time so thereâd be no point in doing so
I have a feeling it'll be released around my birthday since it's only 3 days after Billie's
i think it'll be released when they say
Idc when itâs released as long as itâs this year lol
Holy toledo is not my favorite out of those songs, no.. Shock is really repetitive but it isn't the worst Green Day song in my opinion, Pollyanna is really good, it's my favorite out of those
Album 14 Discussion
No more 1972 đ
vine boom sound effect
After the fan posted about meeting Cavallo and posting the #not1972 hashtag I reached out to a close band source to see if 1972 was intended to be the title and was told they have no title for the record yet and are still in the middle of working on it.
So I guess the 1972 thing was just them celebrating turning 50 which doesnât make much sense in terms of the teasers but đ€·ââïž
Still in the middle of working on the album? Well they seem to be taking a long time to work on it,
Iâm happy theyâre not rushing themselves. Thatâs one of my issues with Father of All, it felt kinda rushed and slapped together. Judging by the teasers, and the fact that Robâs helping them with it, it sounds like this will be a really big album, like American Idiot or something like that. Iâm excited
potentially could be their best work in awhile
I thought a source said they finished recording it
But it doesnât even matter when it comes as long as itâs good
Which I think it should be
Judging by how the teasers sound, and how long theyâre taking to make this, Iâm guessing itâs gonna be another rock opera, which has me excited
Another Rock opera album by this point would feel a little redundant if they're retreading American Idiot
Absolutely
I was kind of hoping for a return to roots 39 Smooth type album
Only with the experience and growth the band has shown thus far
That would be nice but
That's why they make comp albums
Very true, it's clearly not who they are anymore creatively and you can't force that upon them. There's gonna always be some semblance of it
They were experimenting with foam but this new album sound a lot back to their revrad roots
Skpe says it might be an opera truly based on the sound like AI and 21cb but revrad sounds like them both and isn't an opera album so maybe thats the kinda deal like revrad
True
Me too
Revrad 2 would be amazing
Revrad trilogy?
They're using lots of equipment from the AI and 21CB sessions
Rob is gonna make this album so crisp
Definitely
Chris and butch are not all that
They should stick to their music making
Dang :(
The trilogy is underrated
It's got some really good songs on it
It was too much at once, props to them for pushing themselves
How does filler have to do with anything in music?
I mean
Filler in tv is episodes that don't contribute to the story so
It's just a generic word people throw around to mean underdeveloped or lazily hacked together
No
In musical terms
I don't think Green Day were lazy on the trilogy, you can't be lazy and make three albums worth of material
Exactly
But here comes the shock was definitely rushed
I feel like it was a forced song
Too NHL
Wdym?
Feels like it belongs over a hockey commercial lol
Oh
Pollyanna and Holy Toledo are alright, catchy cute little pieces
Now that you mention it, yeah
Yea
They have 72 posts
I'm so curious
Maybe its a private account where they post they're songs to exclusive paid people
I thought all that was a ruse for Panicland
No, can't be
Their description is "If you're knocking, you don't belong here". I'd definitely subscribe to it being a secretive club or something similar.
Is the album in those 1972 birthday teasers cancelled?
We haven't heard much of it since then
No songs for assholes is not a Panicland thing
Mike and Tre follow it
Plus when Billie was on instagram he used to follow it
This accounts been around since 2019 I believe
Then we have to get into this account at all costs
Good luck, I've tried looking up private Instagram viewers, it's all scams
Instagram's security isn't something you can just circumvent
I bet there's one out there
Its rare but yk
I'm not risking it lol
Ok
I wish we at least got a single
I don't think we'll get a single till it's close to finished
Theory: the original title was 1972 and they changed it after Metallica revealed their new album 72 Seasons
( joking btw)
It could be, they've been working on this album this long and still don't have a title? Smells fishy
Exactly
What if the new album is called songs for assholes though
Like 72 posts on that account
1972
Weird
14 followers, 14th album
Exactly
If it weren't about the 14th album
Then they would have 5 followers
Billie, Mike, Tre, Jason, and Adrienne
Exactly, plus whatever producer they may be working with
Yeah, no he doesn't
I don't really think SFA is for 1972 specifically, it seems like a personal blog to log their recording progress for their friends/family
SFA would be a great title though
Maybe
Exactly
If the title turns out to be SFA
Then I'll be shocked
Same here, wanting them to release a single sometime soon, it's been long enough.
Yeah
Oh well, more time to work on it, the better the music
Yea
The biggest mysteries of green day of all time are C&V and SFA
Pretty sure there's more
C&V is a big one, they're gonna reveal SFA is them in like 15 years lol
Maybe they'll do like with The Network
They did a shitty job at hiding it then
Crazy how people find this kind of stuff
Butch Walker follows them too I think
The guy who produced father of all
If that was the case than Richie would be following them
I think thatâd actually be a pretty good title
Whoâs that
Artist for the dookie cover
Oh yea Richie bucher
Gettin antsy
Itâs definitely not since they started the account over 3 years ago during the making of foam
Exactly
Plot twist: turns out to be a 3rd rock opera and the b sides are from the scrapped 1972 sessions
Album 14 will be a Rock opera centering around the life and legacy of the band, the music video that they filmed will contribute to this concept and be the first thing they release for it
That would be pretty cool
The MV def has their younger selves in it bc of that pic with the kid actors
Yeah
Any green day song tops those three imo
Pollyanna is terrible, in light of still breathing
Holy toledo is just shit
And hcts
You're not human
Are you trying to cause drama
Yes
It's got a nice anti-suicide message too
I meant ht and hcts crap
True
Holy Toledo sounds like a low budget 2022 teenage high school drama
You see the problem is it fits in with Father of all
Shit album
Like the instrumentals are catchy but goddamn did they fail spectacularly in the lyrics department
If you want FoAâs type of rock you listen to Muse
Eh
I like father of all
Probably bc it was actually made for a movie

Sound familiar?
Now throw in Dosâ lyrics
Compared to the melody of ht
Yeah, they made it for a crappy love comedy drama
Of vocals
Ok
Well no wonder
No movie songs are ever good
Excuse The Forgotten
Yeah they sound similar
I guess they wanted to sound as bad as the movie
Also the fuck is this
It sounds like 1039 where they canât decide what the fuck theyâre trying to play
I guess some exercise company payed them to make it, bc that's what it looks like, a dance workout video
Don't compare HCTS to 39/smooth, they were actually good
Wdym
The only thing good off of 1039 was disappearing boy
Don't leave me is good
I mean I can see why you hate it
It was their first album not everything is going to be worked out and planned
Oh rhat one
Dont leave me is good ye
I was thinking of the heavier one
Cant remember it
No
Its not that it sounds raw
Its that its just
Kinda crap
That's what I mean
They didn't know how to write good songs
But Billie had some experience
I was there is good too
Yea
I wish Billie would renew look for love, his first song ever and add it to the new album
I feel like HCTS was almost a demo version of 99 Revolutions with a touch of Know your Enemy
Yea
Its out already?
Ah
What I wish they would do is release remastered singles every once in a while
That's what I mean by Renew
2,000 lightyears away
Ye
Honestly though
I wanna see them cover Museâs heavier songs
Like what they did for welcome to paradise?
Ye
Green Day rarely covers songs
https://youtu.be/rinkviEmeXk if they could at least do some heavy songs
Well
More complicated* songs
Thats what I meant
Yea
I dont mean simplicity is bad but if they could add some kickass riffs
Yea
https://youtu.be/M2naLJABWNM every member of Muse is absolutely insane at their instrument though
The fantastic song Hysteria by Muse, from the album Absolution.
I claim ownership of nothing shown in this video.
Ignore lyrics
I cant find the audio version
Right
Anyways like
I'm not a fan of muse myself but it's alright
What I hope for 1972 to be like is
Hmm
21st cb + AI + Uno
Throw in a bit of rev rad
But not overly clean like uno I hope
Well like the entire trilogy
They practically removed almost everythibg
Baby eyes bass intro
99 rev higher bridge
Screaming
Also age ig
Yea that's a factor
Iâm only 16 but I guess time does weird things to your voice
https://youtube.com/shorts/IRBC1Ro21HU?feature=share teaser reminds me of outlaws but heavy
Maybe a remaster
Did we get a release date yet
No
Aw
Yea
Any new teasers ive only found stuff from 5months ago
Hopefully that means its coming soon
Dear god
What is going on
FOB
MCR
Blink 182
Paramore
have released singles over the months
Green Day better be dropping something big. Probably as an apology to FOA lol
Green day just released a dingle
Alison
May be a demo
But I feel like things are great to come with nimrod 25
It's not really what I'd call a proper single since yeah, it's a cover and demo
How do you think the Harley Davidson show is looking for potential fresh material?
Well Alison and You Irritate Me were recorded during the Nimrod sessions. Theyâre great, but they donât really count as new songs
It's the same as anything during the Father Of All era
A faceless blob of washed up nothing
Lame and generic in the most identity deficient way
Nah holy Toledo is their best song since Back in the USA
Itâs different
It sounds very theatrical
Yea, though I do love sugar youth and graffitia
I don't understand how this car commercial music has any personality, it's cellphone commercial jingles. Sorry, I wish I could like it
But come one the title song is a really good song from foam
The bridge of holy toledo is awesome, it even reminds me a bit of 21st cb with how it slows down and sounds big
Youâre wrong
Thanks
I agree with Canta
Father of all is not their best albumâŠ.at all
But it still has a lot of personality. And I do think the album has a theme, itâs about getting older, and just watching the world around you basically go insane. Except itâs presented in a more poppy and strange style
I think it does have a bit of a story to it. Looking at some of the tracks like Meet Me on The Roof, I Was a Teenage Teenager and Stab You in The Heart, I think itâs just about a young adult, falling in love and basically destroying it all with drugs
Wait thatâs American idiot. Shit.
Yes
Father of All is like if American Idiot was more pop and trippy sounding. And 20 minutes shorter
And not as good
But still. Father of all is a nice album, I still like it :]
Yes đ€
Yeah but the writing sucks on foamf
Itâs obvious that they didnât put as much effort into it
Most of the songs really donât have much meaning
Most of the songs however do sound good but thatâs just the talent of the band
I don't like foamf at all
I feel like their music started declining kind of around uno dos tre era
Their albums since then have had a few decent songgs
But foamf did not
"Are we the last forgotten? Are we the long lost love?" What does that even mean? It's literally just Billie's go to lyrics
Next to "bottlerockets", "razor blades", and "lullaby"
Graffitia is about the decline of small towns, so I think it makes sense
Look at oh yeah for example of the amazing lyrics
Off the top of my head, I can think of 3 amazing lines
âBurning books in a bullet proof backpackâ
âShooting star of a lowered expectationâ
âReach for the sky with your face in the dirtâ
Sugar youth is similar to peacemaker, itâs got the couplet style writing
Itâs no masterpiece, but the writing is incredibly underrated, you just gotta look for it
I'm no native speaker, I don't think I get the idea behind that second line. Is there a wordplay or something that I'm missing?
Shooting star of a lowered expectation?
Really hard to explain.. the best way I can describe it, heâs doing fantastic despite having a low expectation
Ah ok I think I get it now, you meant how he used contrast
a lullaby is basically a thing you sing to babies so they sleep
Yes
razor blades are these things, you use them to shave yourself but you can also CUT YORUSELF WQIHTR IT!!°!
and then idk wtf is a bottle rocket
i just want the new album to be good
something memorable
they are going down hill since trilogy
i just want a good album and thats it
Haha yeah I know that, it's just funny how he uses in so many songs
idgaf if it is those teasers 1972
principally in the trilogy lol
Ok
i just want something memorable
revolution radio wasnt even that good
modern gd sucks fr
Nah
2012-2022 can go fuck itself
Stop going with the popular opinions on that
Don't
Just like them and accept them for who they wanna be
Let them find their style
yeah
rev rad is not even that mid
probably best modern gd album
but honestly those 1972 teasers really hypes me up that they found themselves again!!!!
Yea
is 21 century breakdown considered modern gd
I think 21 century breakdown was pretty good
After that
Decline
good just that overproduced af
i think they got that DUDE THAT PRODUCED NIRVANA
and they were like
"LOOK WHAT PRODUCER WAE HAVE BITCHES!!!!
Yeah
Way overproduced
i dont give a shit if you have the worse or best producer
If 21 century had less guitar tracks, less vocal effects, and less random sound effects it would be incredibly good
Rob Cavallo made you!!!!!
Yeah ik who he is
I mean they knew what they were doing when they said We are the desperate in the decline
Raised by the bastards of 1969
ive listened to isolated vocal tracks of 21st cb (the song)
that shit had so much effects
I like that effect though
21cb - lots of guitar tracks - vocal effects - sound effects added during producing = one of their best albums
The demo sounds the same as the one on international... U gotta be bullshitting me
I'd love to hear what it would sound like if 21cb were recorded in the style of insomniac or nimrod
stfu its so different
It's really not..
GOD DAMMIT
the demo one sounds way dirtier
the original one is way cleaner
Also nimrod 25 comes out this friday right?
Yes in quality besides that nothing else
IS IT THIS FRIDAY
listen to those feedback in the background
vocal distortion
drums that arent produced at all
they really went dirty
Green day needs to make a good album
I think blink-182 next album is going to be good
Yes it's really annoying, I prefer the cleaner version
im raelly all into it
