#More cyberpunk maps

Dome haters unite
Legit what is to dislike about dome
Dome rocks however I do agree that having 1-2 more cyberpunk aesthetic maps would rule
yeah ofc
the real issue is that the game doesn't have even have an artist anymore
and the devs are volunteers
so new tilesets just aren't really realistic for the forseeable future
You don't agree only because you like dome, so you ignore my whole point
a ship is an awesome idea
but seriously there aren't gonna be new tilesets any time soon since GEC isn't really working on the game anymore and the game is being run by volunteers who have full-time jobs
I think we'll be lucky if we even get a new gun in the next year
the lmg was only able to be added because it was an unused asset
Sure, i just believe feedback should be shared anyway, and eventually devs will get back to it when they can
fair
I don't think they were planning on any non-cyberpunk maps tho seeing as it is a cyberpunk game
And for the dome hating, it is a goofy map by design. CT vs Terrorists, but whole thing is some kind of tournament on big stadium. Kinda removes the stakes, even if you don't really pay attention to it. Also reminds me of that weird turn in lore in Rainbow 6 Siege. Map balancing, i feel like it has too many elevation changes and spots to hide for defenders.
But yeah biggest problem for me is just weird setting
the lore is that it is a modern gladiator match between unwilling prisoners and glory-seeking enforcers
broadcast on national television like its Sunday Night Football
Map balancing is maybe a fair complaint but yeah, the dome is seen off the coast in the training scene as well it exists in the world, the attackers and defenders are a sport basically, similar to Monday night combat if you played that. It's a dystopian cyberpunk concept anyway to pit people shooting each other for sport
Well that makes sense in dystopian cyberpunk setting i guess. Still doesn't feel good to me, military UAV circling around a factory, then huge explosion in the middle of the city and "signal lost" right after feels so much better than fireworks and flying money in the middle of a stadium
Yeah i've played that and i didn't enjoy the setting. Same with The Finals, but that game also got weak optimalisation. My PC is pretty old so had to drop.
Yeah it's definitely it's own thing in that regard. I think it's an each-to-their-own kinda thing. At least it makes more sense than killhouse, which despite having similar lore to killdome, uses a real ass nuke for some reason.
Fair point lol, i still like killhouse more. That caster on dome is also something. But yeah using nuke on killhouse is weird.
dome is the most cyberpunk of the maps
if anything i think killhouse is quite weird, it's a fun map, but why are terrosrists setting up a bomb in a cop training center ?
someone tell me the killhouse lore lol
basically they’re prisoners that have been forced to participate to help argus get better
okay makes sense, same for killdome ?
pretty much but dome is gameshow
Lorewise maybe, style not so much
It's not a UAV on dome, there are turrets that you can see on the ground near the walls
If anything dome is super cool because it's not generic "cyberpunk". It contributes to the lore of the game more than any other map (televising this wildly violent event in a very hedonistic way, combination of the privatized police and a sham of a justice system).
It's a really really cool map that sets the tone of the game in a way that the other maps don't imo
C store, while visually cool, doesn't really do much tone setting besides "this is a cyberpunk game look at all the neon lights"
All that said, yeah playing on dome sucks. It's easily the worst tileset
real life squid game?
yes
it has the up armored tellers, that's quite cyberpunk
True, but I just personally feel like c store wouldn't be that out of place in your average cyberpunk game, whereas killdome is something very unique to due process
Fair point, i agree on that it has a place in cyberpunk setting. On the first glance it doesn't look cyberpunky tho, and if you don't dig in lore (which most people won't do in shooters) it's just a teleshow. Deus Ex was my entry to cyberpunk genre, back in like 2012, and i'd love to see a map in augmentation clinic, for example.
That would be sick, and funnily enough way back in the day there used to be a tileset called "arena" that did have similar vibes to that image actually
I feel like that would look and play too similar to C-store
Once I get my computer set back up I'll go through my archived collection of ancient DP clips and leak them to the world
It comes up to map designers
you can do cyberpunk thats grounded in reality
bring back nightclub killhouse (or just make a nightclub map overall)
how about a map in the slums bellow the statue of liberty (opening screen)
think of Favela in siege, half rooftops, half inside
Argus is so sure their enforcers will win that they let the defenders arm their actual nuke in their HQ
Prison break/riot map in the Liberty Island prison. Environmental features could include a panopticon with switches to control cell doors/access ways
Also a skyscraper raid map in the downtown area would be pretty cool too
never saw the prison, that’s cool
I don't think that's a prison
if you look you'll see all the islands have walls and security towers
probably to defend against the slums
i think its a prison
think about the irony of it. a statue of liberty placed atop a prison
I saw there resides dome haters in this chat 😠
The main reason I don't think it's a prison is that there aren't any buildings that aren't there irl besides the towers. The towers surround every area above the slums, including Jersey City, and Manhattan, which are definitely not prisons.
The fact there are towers on Manhattan seems more indicative of them being meant to defend the richer and more important old city from the slums.
Also as a sidenote GEC are weirdly good at making accurate recreations of NYC in this game.
Like if you go on Google Earth every single one of those tiny buildings around the Statue of Liberty are real and in that exact layout.
Also Ellis Island is crazy accurate for something you can only get a good look at through a sniper scope on killhouse specifically.
maybe GEC wanted to expand further into the universe
but interesting take, I didn’t realize that
it would make sense
I've always wanted to know who the background designer was for this game
because they did so much more than they had too
also I'm 99% sure GEC building is on the current spot of the World Trade Center, which is certainly an interesting choice.
i dont think due process is really "cyberpunk". To me its more like retro-dystopian if thats a good description. When I think of a new tileset i envision a hospital. or maybe a two story old school brick hotel in the middle of a city
it reminds me of that genre of movie in the 90s like robocop and dredd
yeah i mean technically you can say its cyberpunk but for me cyberpunk is like, way more sci fi and futurist
Im a big shooter for a long bullet train map. How will that work? Idk, but I think of Plane from r6 as a reference
A train station map could work, you could have 2 or 3 trains next to each other
pretty sure there was a train map before in testing
