Flipping back further, there’s an entry about Starlight with crude lines scribbled all over the page, as if it was done in a fit of rage...

According to the intel you gathered at his house, the Greench hates Starlight because his mother disappeared on Starlight’s Eve last after being run over by Santa’s reindeer. You feel sorry for the poor creature, and attempt to console him.

Chapter 5

You chime in with a “You’re welcome”, and Santa gives you the eye. The Greench, with forgiveness in his heart and tears in his eyes, embraces jolly old Saint Nicholas. “I know exactly what you want for Starlight this year”, Santa says with a smile. “Let’s go and see your mom. But before that, make sure to return the gifts you stole!”

Chapter 6: Ending

“I guess this is the part where I tell you why I was disguised as some old man.”, says Santa mid embrace with the Greench.

“To be completely honest, I’m getting quite old and the freezing winds in the North Pole are really affecting my arthritis. I’ve been looking for a replacement Santa because I want to retire to the Bahamas and hang out on the beach. Now that I’ve found someone worthy of being the next Santa, I want you to take over!”

It comes as quite a shock to you that “Santa” was a profession, and this was your interview. You were also unaware that Santa gets old and is afflicted with arthritis. It looks like the Greench was an unwilling participant from the confused look on his face, but all’s well that ends well.

Two days later, you officially take his place as Santa while the crowd of elves cheer in support of their new boss!
