Plus, things can just flee. Error or not, it's not guaranteed to stay.

If you stay on a Pokémon from a battle for too long it will have a error because it’s been too long. I’ve tested this and if you engage a battle Pokémon for more than 3 hours it will not be catchable as it will have an error code.
