• u dont need to instantly Switch buddies when you have to do it

1. Open the mon on Catch Screen and leave
2. Walk away so it disappers
3. Switch your Buddy and switch to the og one again
4. Go check the zorua and others if its not shiny (the faster you are the more you can check)

One thing I noticed. The game sometimes shows the buddy I started the day with or the one I changed to earlier before trying the trick. In that case I walk away and switch to whatever buddy the zorua appeared as.

IIRC IVs are generated Niantic server-side meaning everyone that teleports there will get the same IV pokemon. But shinies are generated Player-side which is why we could both catch the same pokemon but mine is shiny and yours isnt
