Funny that you bring up nests... I came here to ask about them as well.
As I just wrote, I used the nests to get some shinies I've been needing lately (sudowoodo, minccino, plusle) and I still need a Cherubi and its evos.

I also just used a shelmet nest to farm candies to evolve my shiny into accelgor (also for my shiny dex). But, I found this one myself since the nest list expired yesterday.

Using nests to shiny-hunt is new for me, since I'm needing fewer and fewer shinies and they're all uncommon spawns, so now I have to go looking for them. But in the past, Audino nests have been great for farming stardust during double/triple dust per catch events. 300k+ dust in a half hour... but bring plenty of golden razz and ultra balls to an Audino nest. Good luck!
