i think it’s easier than hacking the 3ds, i rooted my xiaomi some days ago and it didn’t require anything strange or hard to do, the tutorials were pretty good

there’s always risk of bricking your phone if something goes wrong but that’s highly improbable, although you may lose security and privacy on your phone (not necessarily, but higher probabilities of something like that happening)

wouldn’t recommend doing it on your personal phone, but if you can find a second phone to do it i’d highly recommend doing it

Assuming you are spoofing you can just spoof wherever it is the time slot.

EG: You could do Spain, then 2 hours later go to NY, then 2 hours later go to San Francisco, then 2 hours later go to Honolulu.. etc
