as it stands right now, i play in a tournament every week, but the skill lvl is higher than I'm able to keep up with and I just want to be able to compete a little bit. the issue is I have no idea how to play neutral or what basic gameplan is. I've only play 2d fighters like MK10 &11 as well as 2XKO. not sure what guidance I can find to help me improve so I'm looking for anything at this point as well as i swapped from controller to keyboard/box

Hey! As someone who has played quite a number of fighting games, I can definitely say that it will be a difficult learn regardless. I very much commend you for sticking to it this long, and I think being here is a great first step. There are weekly tournaments every Saturday where the winner is banned and high level players are automatically banned. It is meant to foster improvement for players around the Silver-Plat level. There’s also the opportunity to ping for games here at a generally lower skill level, but also everyone here is also trying to improve and I highly recommend it.
For starters, swapping controllers entirely can be a big change. It may take a bit to get back to your prior level of execution level. Definitely get used to basic movement, recovery, and doing the proper attacks. Eye Break, which can be found under the trials section, can help with a few of these and I would highly recommend it. Since you play Ranno, recovery shouldn’t require precise angles like a Zetterburn or something, but it still will take work to get your slingshots back to stage correct.
Neutral and game plans are a super fundamental thing in any fighting game, and I do think this is where some of your experience can transfer. There are many videos on this topic, but Naga shared this one a while ago I really like so I will share it here. https://youtu.be/eWiEDxImVn4?si=LPVfcc_mM3jPEcIe
Gameplans are built game to game and are a reflection of you and your opponent goals, and thus should be adapting over the pace of the game. Identifying what things you need to prioritize to win and what you can deny from your opponent. Whether it be a character resource, or a more fundamental thing like you deny them space or the ability to take your stock. I think these will mostly come with time, and I think for now it’s not as important to focus on it.
I would be free basically any time tomorrow to discuss this with you in a call, as well as answer other questions you may have
