cakeassualt
mkleo also has a good fors
i thought cake was a fleet
they swapped to fors
smh
Yippee!
I'll teach you everything you need to know
@warped hemlock What kind of gameplan do you have with smoke? In the last ~3 or so hours of learning it feels like super hard to keep it on stage or get in a position where the opponent doesn't just remove it instantly
In R1 i feel like you could control certain parts of the stage with smoke more consistently and now it feels like I can't get anything from it
Smoke maintenance is the exact same in r1 and r2
You just smoke constantly and if you stop smoke is gone
oki doki, so when I have smoke what should I be doing?
Smoke is great because it allows you to threaten cc and shield at any point and your opponent cannot space it
I got from Spyker that you can kinda get whiff punishes from it since they have to press buttons to remove it, but how do I go about doing that?
doesnt this reveal you though?
That strategy works but not the best degree
he did say this
You can shield when they commit. They can’t react to
Shield same thing with cc
And remember that it only reveals you for as long as you commit to the option
So if I shield in the middle of smoke and then wavedash oos you have no idea if I’m wavedashing left or right
The second you jump oos you disappear
oh shit i forgot this is an option
There’s a lot more fundamentally you should be working on
You can be a masters Forsburn with just combust
definitely
in reference to this
And I think that’ll do you better for a while
just combust and not playing w/ smoke?
That is a thing i was gonnna ask
it takes really long to come out so idk how to get great use of it
And then smoke is a layer of complication you don’t need when Forsburns normals are broken
also just feels laggier to pop but that might be me
They help a lot but I think focusing on getting more consistent with Forsburn neutral without smoke
Enhances your smoke usage 10 fold
gotcha
So for the purposes of learning, I always recommend don’t go too crazy with smoke
Should i still try to implement smoke whenever, just not focus on it then?
Once you get the hang of fors neutral, everything else flows
I also recommend grabbing a walk mod button
im not very consistent with the ledge grabbing mechanics for his teleport
I have one on a face button
dunno how good that is tho
Yeah you basically wanna tp slightly down but not too down that you lose the ledge grab hitbox
I kinda want Dpad walk back though
Whatever is comfortable for you
Me too
But walk mod is like
Non negotiable for complete control
Pivot Dtilt is disgusting on fors
And pivot is 1 frame tech
Pivot dtilt?
is that different from just buffering a turnaround?
Yeah so you can cancel your dash into a walk in a different direction
can't you like
Which allows you to turn around DTILT in situations you’d otherwise get DA
cactuar it?
Cactuar only happens in the run state
like hold down and back and tilt stick down
Right
You cancel your the first frame of run into crouch
But I’m saying you can DTILT during dash
i don't think i can do that with my current walk mod
Like during dash
I see
Yeah I use it on my shoulder
fors initial dash seems p long
all my shoulder buttons are taken :(
Why
i have a back button on my controller, might have to use that
I promise you can get rid of one LOL
Jump, Parry, Shield. Grab
Jump and Shield are non-negotiable
Move jump to the face button you weirdo
Man
Nah
LOL
wavedashing is better when its just pressing both shoulders
ITS LITERALLY THE SAME
nuh uh
im not gonna spend like
50+ hours learning how to jump on another button low key
not feeling like doing that again
i learned shoulder jump as a way to stop using stick jump like 8 years ago
Back to forsburn shit though
What should I immediately start doing?
Practice your simple DI in confirms
If you’re not maximizing your reward on DI in, you’re gonna have an extremely hard time actually finding consistent success
