Pilots, post your flight logs here! Also, the pretty pictures, can't forget pretty pictures!

#

I'm using https://aviatife.com/ to give me purpose behind flying. I currently operate under the airline "LionAir", flying a Cessna 172 Skyhawk (UR-WRL).

It adds cargo & passengers to move, and even air ambulance missions.

#

Here's the one I'm currently on.

#

It's almost completely web based, so you can organize your company things on a tablet or phone, while you have a lightweight little program hooked into the flight sim to track the actual flying.

LionAir Flight #1

Aircraft: Cessna 172 SkyHawk (UR-WRL)
Souls on board: 1
Cargo: 3538 units of Painkillers - 283lbs
Departure Aerodrome: EHRD - Rotterdam The Hague Airport
Destination Aerodrome: EDHI - Hamburg Finkenwerder Airport
Departure Time: 2024-08-16 19:01
Arrival Time: 2024-08-16 23:10
Flight Time: 3hr, 6min
Parked at: Spot 41

My first real tracked flight. The flight itself went lovely, had a minor hiccup with the autopilot when I put in the approach, causing it to almost stall. And a game crash during the approach (luckily while I was still pretty dang high up in the air!)

Nice benefit of aviatife, as it tracks your flight data you can resume midflight! (sort of, you spawn with autopilot off, and the throttle at 90%... With the option of getting another 1000ft if you're too close to the ground to restart safely, nice touch.)

So restarted the game, figured I didn't need a flight plan this far into the flight and just contacted tower for a straight-in approach. Despire having to pretty much nose dive to get down to the runway, WE LANDED! woo

LionAir Flight #2

Aircraft: Cessna 172 SkyHawk (UR-WRL)
Souls on board: 2
Cargo: 73 units of Network hardware - 292lbs
Departure: Hamburg Finkenwerder Airport (EDHI), Spot 41 @ 2024-08-18 11:19
Arrival: Münster Osnabrück Airport (EDDG), Spot 3 @ 2024-08-18 12:41
Flight Time: 1hr, 21min

(Superscript numbers refer to the images attached below)
The aircraft was out of use yesterday because it was getting a shiny new paintjob¹, took that time to accept 2 jobs from Hamburg². Some IT company needs their equipment hauled to Munster before business Monday. And we've got a passenger bound to Büren, apparently there's some sort of WW2 museum he wants to visit and the trains aren't in service anymore. Hopefully he doesn't mind the pit stop. Finkenwerder traffic was light so we were immediately cleared for take-off, and had a lovely view of Buxtehude on our way up³. Lovely weather up in the cruise⁴ above Bremen⁵, really wish my computer wasn't as much of a potato so I could actually see things on the ground. Speaking of on the ground, landing was the smoothest so far at 147 feet per minute. Parked between some other nice looking planes⁶ and the lads are unloading their electronics. I'm grabbing a bite to eat and checking the local warehouses for something to drag in the direction back home tonight.

LionAir Flight #4

Aircraft: Cessna 172 SkyHawk (UR-WRL)
Souls on board: 2
Cargo: 2 units of Iron, 295lbs
Departure: Münster Osnabrück Airport (EDDG), Spot 3 @ 2024-08-18 20:52
Arrival: Paderborn Lippstadt Airport (EDLP), Spot 39 @ 2024-08-18 21:46
Flight Time: 0hr, 54min

Time to deliver Ms. Maas to her destination, she's looking a little down this evening⁵ so I bet she'll feel much better being where she originally hired me to go to. Lovely purple sky climbing out of Munster¹, Ground cleared us to 14,000ft... but this airframe's ceiling is 12,000ft. Aside from that, it's such a short flight I doubt I can even make it to 10,000. Asked Langen Radar for 6,000ft. Not quite as fuel efficient but at least it gives me time to type this and make screenshots while in cruise²... Aaaaand during the descent my mouse clicks wouldn't register. Guess it's another two-parter today.

So, remember how in Flight #1 it restarted me with 90% throttle? Yeah, this time it started me WITH THE ENGINE OFF. Needless to say that approach and landing was a bit too hectic for pretty pictures, but at least I got one from my parking spot³. Ms. Maas wasn't very happy⁴ with the rough landing (534.43 fpm), but then again.. She paid in full so why should I care?

Edit: Yay! pictures uploaded in the wrong order... Re-numbered the annotations in the debrief to match.

#

(Yes, that was Flight 4. I don't know where flight 3 went. Aviatife ate it, I guess.)

Throws hands in air Stupid FLC mode on the G1000 not working, throwing me into the dirt for no good reason every single time. I was gonna enjoy the brutalball from 10.000ft in the air but instead I'm fighting the stupid autopilot while missing the games.

LionAir Flight #5

Aircraft: Cessna 172 SkyHawk (UR-WRL)
Souls on board: 1
Cargo: 2 units of Iron ingots, 294.64lbs
Departure: Paderborn Lippstadt Airport (EDLP), Spot 39 @ 2024-08-21 10:25
Arrival: Brussels Airport (EBBR), Spot 165 @ 2024-08-21 12:09
Flight Time: 1hr, 44min

Hauling some iron to Belgium. Probably would've been just as fast over the road than waiting for my plane, but hey. They're paying so I'm not complaining!
It's a lovely morning in Lippstadt¹. Climbing to the cruise, it's time to resume the in-flight entertainment² (Breaking Bad S3E3, for those wondering).
We're flying straight over Dortmund³, and boy does it look blurry this morning. I reckon I should probably grab the cache of the local area before I continue flying. Speaking of, if you look under the left wing and squint real hard, you'll see something that resembles Dusseldorf⁴. After having parked at Brussels⁵ we're finally back in Dutch-speaking territory. Did a nice clockwise loop around the north-eastern European mainland so far⁶. Perhaps a flight across water next time? Or southbound, I could do with a little tan.

LionAir Flight #6

Aircraft: Cessna 172 SkyHawk (UR-WRL)
Souls on board: 1
Cargo: 137 units of eggs & 19 units of fodder (260.3 + 328.7 = 589lbs)
Departure: Brussels National Airport (EBBR), Spot 165 @ 2024-08-25 13:25
Arrival: Cologne Bonn Airport "Konrad Adenauer" (EDDK), Spot 61 @ 2024-08-25 14:28
Flight Time: 1hr, 2min

Two jobs, that fit together in the airframe, that go to the same airfield? Let's go!¹ Lovely smooth departure out of Brussels, and at 5000ft noticed the damn flight wasn't tracking. Take 2, bit more aggresive on the taxi, but a lovely departure² nonetheless. A very brief peek back into Dutch airspace during the cruise³. I really ought to take a trip back home at some point. Surprisingly little aircraft in the skies, especially given we have the airfield in sight now⁴. Landing was a little on the rough end (431.06 fpm), but I'm getter better at landing at the middle of the runway, which is progress!

I just learned that the dev of aviatife has been radio silent since Jan 1st, and the domain's expiring on 27 September. Here's hoping it's autorenewing or that the dev speaks up within a month..

LionAir Flight #8

Aircraft: Cessna 172 SkyHawk (UR-WRL)
Souls on board: 2
Cargo: 112 units of Cotton (390.88lbs)
Departure: Cologne Bonn Airport "Konrad Adenauer" (EDDK), Spot 61 @ 2024-08-26 11:27
Arrival: N/A
Flight Time: N/A

Buddy of mine called, "Hey, you're in Cologne right? Can I catch a ride home? I'll pay." - Good as reason as any to go back to Rotterdam, picked him up from his hotel and we swung by the cargo hangars to see if there was anything on the way. A local farmer asked if we could move some cotton to Dusseldorf. Didn't realise cotton farming was big in this area, but here we are. Full plane, happy bank account. First time we've actually needed a pushback, but we made it to RWY 14L on this lovely summer (autumn?) morning. We were told to climb to 7000ft by tower, force of habit I guess. So we asked Approach for 4000ft, and I think the Germans just haven't had their coffee yet because their response was interesting. Anyway, AP decided to mess up the approach so I decided to try to fly the final manually.
Insert record scratch followed by a VHS tape rewinding SFX
Lovely day here at Cologne... Too bad my aircraft magically got disappeared.

(Edit: Hey look at me, forgetting to add the pictures. Oh well. As I'm restarting with NeoFly as opposed to aviatife future flight won't be flown under the LionAir name, yet...)

Flight #1

Aircraft: Cessna 172 SkyHawk (G-S120)
Souls on board: 1
Cargo: 393 lbs of Computers
Departure: Mere House Airstrip, Sturton By Stow (EGWT), S Parking 1 @ 2024-08-26 15:04
Arrival: London Biggin Hill Airport (EGKB), Spot 21 @ 2024-08-26 16:22
Flight Time: 1hr, 19min

Having looked for an alternative career mode, NeoFly seems to offer what I want in their free version, with the potential to go even bigger (own my own airline?!) with a one-time pay that isn't horrendously expensive... So, here goes nothing.

We're taking some computer equipment from a farm near Sturton By Stow to London for maintenance.¹ Aircraft's a rental and I'm not sure why they parked it here for all places, but hey. A job's a job and I have myself a nice new 172 to fly over the beautiful English countryside² ³ and cities like Peterborough⁴. Halfway through the flight a little caution⁵ appeared. Should be fine, I did the math... I mean, Hypothetically I should have lots of fuel to spare. Hey look, there's London!⁶

Bit of a rough landing at Biggin Hill. To quote Dispatch "Well, you've landed. We'll have maintenance check the gear when you've parked." - Forgot to take a screenshot after landing, again. Oh well!

Oh and that "lots of fuel" I had spare? Well, I had some fuel to spare, that is.. I had enough fuel to maybe park at the next stand.⁷ That's called planning and efficiency and I will hear nothing else of it.

Flight #3

Aircraft: Cessna 172 SkyHawk (G-S120)
Souls on board: 1
Cargo: 161 lbs of Computers, 400 lbs of Cigarettes (561lbs total)

Arrival: Base Lieutenant Étienne Mantoux (LFQE), Parking 29 @ 2024-08-28 12:37 LT
Flight Time: 1hr, 44min

Hey Past-Ty, it wasn't the EBBR scenery that was lagging. Or, not exclusively. You forgot to re-install AutoFPS after re-installing the sim. Also, TAKE PICTURES! That's the entire reason you're making these debriefs, to share pictures. (The inflight entertainment kinda distracted me, Breaking Bad Season 3 finale.)

Anyway, I do have 1 picture: Repaid the starter loan with this flight alone!

Flight #4

Aircraft: Cessna 172 SkyHawk (G-S120)
Souls on board: 4
Cargo: 77lbs of luggage (77lbs total)
Departure: Base Lieutenant Étienne Mantoux (LFQE), Parking 29 @ 2024-08-28 14:48 LT
Arrival: Metz–Nancy–Lorraine Airport (LFJL), Parking 19 @ 2024-08-28 15:11 LT
Flight Time: 36min

First flight with actual passengers on board in NeoFly. I like how they give you actual stats on them¹. I'm feeling froggy so I'm doing some small hops today. Despite landing without clearance earlier (I asked for the ILS but they refused, so I "accidentally" changed the radio frequency) I was actually cleared for take off!² Ten minutes into the half-hour flight I realise why, these ladies are so needy!³ Surprisingly busy here in Metz, though.⁴ Anyway, let's see who or what we can take slightly further north.

Yes, you read that correctly, "short of" the runway is where I parked. Fuel ran out, oops. (I also totally didn't forget to finish the debrief yesterday so I forgot the arrival time, and therefore the flight time)

Arrival: Humberside Airport (EGNJ), Parking 10 @ 2024-08-29 12:39 LT
Flight Time: 2hr, 22min

Aircraft landing gear repaired overnight¹. And somehow, somebody decided "Yes I'll come with you" so we're bringing Gunner MontoyaHadley Petersen²(Game crash caused two passengers in NeoFly for some reason...) to Durham Tees Valley (EGNV), with a quick fuel stop in Humberside (EGNJ). The North Sea is smooth as glass, which made for a nice view³. When nearing British airspace we flew over some turbines, those massive things look TEEENY from up here⁴. The British coastline was a nice landmark to follow during approach⁵, and plenty of fuel before landing this time!
