A certain amount of blocks, usually a 5x12 space works for me, and at least one solid block for an NPC to stand on, meaning it CAN be multiple platforms as long as there’s a solid block, with walls, at least one door, a light source such as a torch, a chair, and a table. Workbenches count.

You can go down with ropes, build a staircase down, use platforms to descend, or descend using a water source.
Alternatively, if you have it, any of the double jump items or a red balloon from a sky island.

I’d recommend getting your life up, upgrading your armor some more, getting the boomstick and/or minishark, and farming demons for the demon’s scythe magic weapon, if possible. If that’s not possible currently, try diamond staff.

For a diamond staff, I forget, but you’ll need diamonds. Easiest way to obtain them is putting silt into an extractinator.

majority of my time on the game is just spent building and not actually progressing
I progress to like mid tier of the stage I am at, then I build a ton and progress to end tier of the stage
