Balance of both;
You usually want to make a set time by which you’ve hit the teleporter and have gotten applicable loot. Sometimes it’s worth saving some money for the next stages and leaving a chest or two behind. For example I usually aim to spend just 5 minutes total on stage 1 and get rid of the teleporter boss as quick as possible. I then use the remaining enemies to scalp money, get a few surrounding chests and dip.

Yes but again, it’s a balance. Time saved versus one item that could potentially not even be as useful as getting a leg up on the scaling.
I would rather 2 minutes off my timer than having a chance at an Aegis.

Used to be the strat but honestly, just taking your time, even over 15 minutes per stage, is fine, even in Eclipse 8.
Your primary strength comes from the items, not the level. So taking your time to get all items can be a lot more rewarding.
