And of course they have to accept you in both the uni, and middle school. In middle school it's done with "acceptance tests"

ranging from not seeing shit (memorize your facility, not super tough) to some really crazy stuff

Story progress, quests, abnormality codex, upgrades, boss completions and even gear are permanent even if you start a new game, but gear is lost on agent death, and if it's from an abno you don't currently have you can't re-get it back until you do!

People say it's not really reasonable to do the entire game in one run

You're expected to go back and do better to avoid putting yourself in an eventual corner
