Pressure plates could do it passively, put an npc house nearby and they’ll occasionally walk over it and trigger it. Problem is it might stay off. You could hook up a 5 second timer and then it’ll flicker every 5 seconds

Or a faster timer too, goes up to 1/4 second, but that might not grow as much, idk the specifics of it

the way deerclops works is that he has a chance to randomly spawn in a blizzard at midnight

which means if you're farming golems at night there's a good chance he'll show up

It's not a before you've killed him thing either, he can randomly spawn after you've killed him too. More like king slime than eye of cthulhu

a good strat for medium core is to have a void bag, then fill up all of your inventory with junk items, like a single stone block
then, when you corpse run, it'll send yer stuff to the void vault 😄

but for terraria, it just creates a terrible death spiral effect that turns 1 mistake into hours of frustration

death already does have consequences, tho

1st: you lose all yer cash
2nd: if you die vs a boss, you lose the fight(except deerclops for some reason) and need to either wait till you can fight again, or spend a precious summoning item to resummon it. (if the item isn't valuable to you, yer already powerful enough to farm it, so why are you dying to begin with?)
