Regular sand also gets corrupted/hallowed easily so you can convert it pretty quickly

Try planting some somewhere else with hallowed seeds from the dryad, or using holy water

you dont really need them because the whip only loses a mere 5% damage with each enemy it hits, which means you will deal near full damage to the WoF, even with the hungries still spawned, but they are still very useful to have in general, since they will help deal with the hungries faster

exposure therapy isnt just seeing the thing. especially if you consistently have a reaction of fear around the thing that that fear never starts to go away. exposure therapy involves forcing yourself to be near the thing with a gradual increase in intensity. so in this case it would start with seeing one on your wall and resisting the urge to kill it. then next time you see one, you sit close to it for a while. then the next time you go over to it and stare at it and observe its behavior. then you could try getting an up close look at the thing and realy pay attention to the fine details. then eventually you work up to handling a bug (as long as you know its not a dangerous one like a wasp...try beetles for a start, they are generally safe)

99 times out 100 the bugs you find in your home are harmless and theres absolutely 0 reason to kill them. at least grab a cup and an envelope to put the thing outside instead of killing it
